The leaves
seemed to wither and die
slowly this year,
as if the foliage red
sliced its veins and slowly
bled out.
Autumn glows yellow
like a book gradually develops
jaundice and eventually
collapses into dust.

The possibilities
of Summer are gone
and Winter inches her
ice-cold eyes
over the horizon,
turning her gaze inward
as the skies turn gray
and melancholy falls
like a torrent of freezing rain.

I ponder these things
while birds begin their
southern retreat
and night-time darkness
arrives swifly,
equipped with
Orion's Belt as
a holster and
the Crescent Moon as
a revolver.

My feet seem to be frozen
to dawn's frost as it
wraps it's frigid fingers
around my ankles -
shackles fitting for a
prisoner trapped in
the Season's purgatory.

He lazily wonders, "would it be best,
to manifest,
this array as a poem?"...

Dribbling, drabbling, splishing and splashing,
Summer's scorn whirls unlashing.
Gutter strikes throng cluttered pipes,
filled to burst before crashing.

Concrete delta, chizzled from steel,
devouring, steadily, it's only meal.
Here to stay, but ready to leave,
they swifly pass throughout their eve.

Porch roof wet, drip by the drop,
along the guardian's shielded top.
The sky yields for the setting sun,
but in the night, the bombers run.

Booming strikes desparetely fight
to enter the darkness, and win back the light.
So many things, all the same,
block mountains, laying their claim.

Slicing into theatrical waves,
luck guides as a strider braves.
Running as well, the Tempest to test...
both he and the storm, the other one craves.

Sitting back in his safe little home,
the boy becomes worried,
of becoming too grown.

"How to put into words..."
"This moment may never be seen again."
"Almost gone... lost to the birds..."
"Holding on between a thought and a pen."

Long after we last kissed,
I still feel your lips so strong.
Before my eyes fall on yours,
I still feel excitement behind the door.
And when I'm sharing time with you,
I know that it's love, I am in.
With things going this way,
I can swifly and safely say,
I'll love you any day.

Now if you could go inside my mind,
what you would find, you'd smile so grand.
What it is, is that your love I abide,
it's your side by which I'll always stand.
If you think to yourself,
you don't believe me, just take a look,
at when you did leave me,
it's clear that my world shook and I did sway.
But my dear all that lets me say,
I'll love you any day.
