Every time I see you
You complain
If we talk about the weather
You mention the rain
You talk about the bad luck
That you've had
With you it's never good
It's always bad
And it's a habit
That I hope you'll kick
Like Sounds of Blackness
Be optimistic

Look to the sky
And hold your head up high
Time goes by so fast
Ya see this too will pass
So why pretend
The perdicament you're in
Is gonna last forever
Like things won't get no better

As a person thinketh
So are they
Only you can
Chase your blues away
Keep an open mind
Be positive
pessimists survive
But others live
There's no time
Like the present to begin
To give your life
A different kind of spin

Look to the sky
And hold your head up high
Time goes by so fast
Ya see this too will pass
So why pretend
The perdicament you're in
Is gonna last forever
Like things won't get no better

Changes are occuring
Everyday
Keep your head up
Wipe the tears away
You don't know
What tomorrow's gonna bring
That might give you joy
And make you sing

Look to the sky
And hold your head up high
Time goes by so fast
Ya see this too will pass
So why pretend
The perdicament you're in
Is gonna last forever
Like things won't get no better

I bought a box of smiles
Now I'm in a perdicament
Since there's only a few
How do I best use them

Do I pull out a smile when I see a child
Or wait for a funny situation
Do I cut one in half to add to a nervous laugh
When I'm clearly caught misbehaving

Do I share one with my neighbor
Whose husband is gone and she's all alone
Use them now or save them for later

Or do I put one on when I see a couple
Hand in hand walking down the street
I know how that feels cause it gives me chills
When my girl and I do the same thing

Should I head to the beach and in the box reach
For a smile on a bright sunny day
Or just sit tight for whatever might
Any day come my way

I never knew there were so many different reasons
For which a smile is meant
So I just took one out, the perfect smile
And wore it everywhere I went

Realizing soon after that
That smiles never really wear down
So I opened the box, took out the whole lot
And passed all the smiles around

Now everyone I see smiles back at me
All they needed was someone to share them
I still have a few so here's one for you
They're so popular now everyone wears them

Here I am, looking out, are they looking in?
Is my past a factor? Does it matter where I've been?
Though, times are dark, I can't help but grin
At the perdicament I'm in, it's like a sort of sin

What I see with my eyes, the view that I gain
Is the brightness of hope, somewhere to stay out the rain
The smartest part of my brain has only suffered from pain
Just to reach this point, this opportunity in my lane.

I'm the one looking out, but what do they see?
If I say my sight is great, would anyone else agree?
Is my answer locked away? Am I in need of a key?
So many questions need answers, just from a sight that I see.

What do I look like in my box from the view outside?
Is it enough to accept, or must I continue to hide?
Is it a basic opinion, or is it one amplified?
Even with the worst opinion, I can be proud that I tried.

I've seen spiders that weave, lions that can hunt,
Cheetahs that can run, and birds that can fly.
I've seen bears hibernate, I've seen dogs that can bark,
But me as a human, the most I can do is try.
