The words, they whirl
    The thoughts, they swirl,
  Inside a chaotic mind.
   Do you have the time,
    To read between the lines,
And try to define,
The twisted thoughts, of a complex mind?
              Take a leaf of paper,
       Write it all down,
Don’t lead them straight in,
      But explore the pathways around
What hides in your mind.
    Accused of much,
               Guilty of more,
Your lies blow up in my face,
Like it’s a never ending war.
You walked out, slammed the door,
Said you needed me,
         Then became unsure.
You stormed out,
     Threw me away.
What could I do, what could I say?
     Open minds, open mine.
Buff it up, and make it shine.
Take your thoughts, and take your time.
Leave me here, fighting for rhymes,
        To explain,
In words,
        What you’ve done.
I should be over this by now...too bad i'm not.

My inner monologue says
Don't let them see you show
Defeat
Remorse
Regret
Sadness
Uncertainty.
You are a queen.

I trust you see it the same way.

The day was for England to look solid
South Africa were happy to play slow
It turned out that England wanted squalid
Opposition gave us nowhere to go

Andrew Strauss was done in by a shooter
Jonny Trotted past a full one today
Collingwood survived ***** past his ******
Ian Bell gave us most cause for dismay

Now Kevin played nicely for a while
But Colly got out to leave us in fear
Prior left us too soon for a smile
So for Broad and Swann the plan was clear

Jimmy hit them for the SIX of the game
But for glory Graeme Swann was the name

I recieved a challenge from Sophie (or Sophia) from the Test Match Sofa Team. The question about my ability to write other forms was raised.

I enjoy a challenge, so after a bit of time on Wikipedia and for the first time in my life, I learned about Sonnets. 14 lines. 10 syllables per line. And something I really didn't grasp called Iambic Pentameter. Well, I had a go, it's not great; but crap in my hat, it's HARD. Back to limericks for me.

Anyhow, via this sonnet, I tried to capture the feel of Englands first innings. I hope not to write a dirge for the 2nd innings.

Colly and cold in the creeping winter night
Hot breath steaming in the moon’s silver light

The denizens don their down coats and knitted caps
Shielding supple skin from the biting wind’s grasp

Wrapped thoroughly tight from body to brain
Thoughts clogged in the cold as a clotted vein

The people take to their snow strewn streets
Slipping on wet slush and solid ice sheets

While I sit inside in self-imposed solitude
I contemplate the company I conspire to elude

But if I went to join the frozen-footed fray
I'd fall and lay frozen
Rotting away

I'd die divinely and
Spring would descend
Dead and dessicated,
My soul will ascend

Deceased and derelict
My body remains
Devoured by Earth,
And Death is renamed.
