So many hurting people
Every where I look.
They glorify their cover
But I can read them like a book.

Pages of sin, hardened hearts,
Friendships tearing apart.
More pain than one can ever bear,
Smile in place, pretend not to care.

Wipe a tear and lend an ear,
Is all that I can do.
Want to change their song and dance,
Wish I could change their circumstance.

The pages of my story,
Loathsome with no glory,
Reads much the same as all theirs.
Will I lift the cover, pages bare?

Let them see they’re not alone,
I can not cast a stone.
Show them how the pages change
When Christ begins to rearrange.

Clean pages, neatly written
Follow nothing hidden.
Circumstances still the same,
He changes the meaning of pain.

Now a story with purpose,
When from sin He turns us.
Pain still there, it hurts the same
But now being used for my gain.
Too many people judge books by their covers... Too many people hide behind the covers of their "books"
Silently
   She built a wall
Silently
   Because it was
Too hard to explain why

Silently
   She built a wall
Stepped behind
   To hide her self
No one could hurt her now

Silently
   She hid her pain
Silently
   She let none near
The wall was not enough

Silently
    She built more walls
Silently
   She made a fort
Encompassed by her walls

The walls let
   No Light inside
The Silence
   Became a tomb
Her heart became a stone

What happens to those kids you leave behind
The kids that you always made feel
Empty inside
You went on to collage
With your perfect little life
But what happened to your friend
When you left them with tears I their eyes

middle school
when you pull her hair in class
everyone is laughing then
but when the same is done to you
is it just a game then
when you're the one walking down the hall
with everyone looking at you strangely
then YOU find out
there was a sign on your back that said
"kick me"
high school
you start out just making comments
"did you see that girl's outfit"
but then you come up to her and say
"did you even try today"
she runs home crying
but then the next day
she walks up to her locker
and what does it say?
"go drown in a lake"
but what did she do?
what did she say?
then rumors start spreading
about this new boy in class
she was just trying to help
because she knows what it's like
to be like that.
muted with no power
no speaking
not aloud
so she whispered in his ear
"it'll get better, somehow"
"are you flirting with the new kid!?"
her friend didn't hesitate to say.
"i was just helping him pick up his books"
she became a reject that day
walking towards her locker
one look
her heart dropped
then she screamed into the air
"YOU THINK CALLING SOME A ***** IS FUNNY?
IT'S NOT"
"who are you trying to convince"
said the girl walking in
"YOU USED TO BE MY FRIEND"
"but you dumped me for him.
so have fun starting from the beginning again."
bu wait.
whatever happened to them?
the boy and the girl?
the used to be friend?
10 years later*
girl has a child
boy still her friend
they walk towards there building
laughing
towards the company they brought in
looking through the applications
"that girl popped up again"
"i'll take care of it"
and the boy wrote
it was "just a game" you said

barrier
 Mar 2014 Willow-Anne
Riot
there is a wall separating you and me
a wall that only you can see
it's barrier is made of
pain, destruction, and misery
and you can't get past it
if it's all that you think
to get past it
all you need
is to say
this isn't me
i believe in a better day

if you say those words
there would be no misery
to be seen
so break down the barrier
come be with me

I don't know what went wrong
We were so strong
We laughed 'till we cried
It was pure happiness
But like shooting star across the sky
Happiness comes and goes

Look up

You told me you love daytime
Can you see now, the sky
Blue, cloudless, so bright
Do you know
Stars are there too
But the sun, too bright, blind them away
Do you know
My feeling is the same
Just wait
'Till the sun goes down
'Till clouds are away
'Till moon shines again
There they are
Among the stars
It starts just like crescent moon
May look tiny
But you have seen
How bright when it's full
You answered just a little too fast.
It surprised me.
I haven't seen you in about a year,
And I am realizing I've missed you.
It surprised me.
The last time I saw you,
And the time before that,
You were intoxicated.
It surprised me.
I haven't seen you in about a year,
And I am realizing what you are to me.
It surprised me.
You are a dress without hems or seams.
I hardly know you but you are beautiful.
You are the bullet in the rotating cylinder of the gun to my head.
You dig through my skull and explode my amygdala.
And force me to love you.
You are the jam in the barrel as I pull the trigger.
I fell to the ground in realization:
You both killed me and saved me.
It surprised me.
