End of December,
Comes without a word.
With or without her,
Unchanged is the world.

Dove too deep in life,
Too deep in her eyes.
Been too lost in time.
Too lost to realise.

That the blazing cold,
And the freezing sun,
Makes me feel old not,
Makes me feel but none.

And the new year comes,
Like every other.
And this year is done,
Why do I bother?

The stockings were hung,
but they fell off the wall,
The tree was so crooked,
it threatened to fall.
The cookies for Santa
got burnt to a crisp,
and Grandpa was snoring
with quite a loud lisp.

The cat ate the tinsel
and their whiskers did glow,
while reindeer-shaped lights
blinked sporadic and slow.
The wrapping paper ran out
halfway through,
so presents got covered
in the old Daily News.

But Christmas still came
with its usual cheer,
despite all the chaos
and Dad's missing beard.
For love and good spirits
cannot be undone,
by festive mishaps
and misguided fun.

Forget me not,
My friend,
And know that I also never could.

You're the first one I met,
My friend,
And still are among the best I've kept.

And you must remember:
That when life feels like a blur,
And everything is getting colder.

When all you feel is fear,
And when you need a shoulder,

I will be here.
Always, and forever.

Send me a text,
Ring my phone.
No matter the hour,
You're never alone.

For I'll be there,
If you ever needed the might.
I'll be anywhere,
Like the shadow in your light.

And at last,
My friend,
Everything good comes to an end.

But dont be mistaken,
My friend,
The end of a chapter means another began.

And you might not be in the picture,
But you will never leave the frame.
Throughout every spring and winter,
I'll never forget the day you came.
this was made for a close friend of mine (whose name is in the title) who had to move far away due to personal reasons. fortunately, he's managed to sort it out!

How am I, of all people,
Falling for you?
How can your luminescence,
Be my muse?

And his mind became fogged,
By what's out of his control.
Oh, he never realized he's ******,
Oh, he has no idea at all.

And then it struck him:
One half.
"What?" he muttered.

One half of his time is gone.
In this school, that is.
Still a crazy thought though,

He couldn't comprehend it,
Not really.
Didn't have much to show for it,
Not really.

"Scholarships?" He thought with a shrug,
"Not my thing anyway."
"Relationships?" he frowned.
"Guess I fumbled those too."

For a moment, he felt lost,
"Life sure can be overwhelming,"
he thought.

And it struck him, yet again:
"Just live."
"Right," he chuckled.

So just ease up—
For when you turn to look behind,
It'll already be gone.

And I hope you find another,
Who feels to you like the sea
Like an ocean of kind and love
Like how you used to feel to me

One who would admire your beauty
The same way that I did
One who would care for you
As much as I would do
One who would fall in love
Much harder than I ever could

And I hope you'll find others
Who loves as fiercely as I
Who'll forge with you a bond eternal
Unlike that of you and I

And he ponders
Day and night
About the meaning of life

Is it to chase happiness?
Study well, become a doctor,
Marry the woman of your dreams?
To care for your very own daughter,
And sow the next set of seeds?

Is it to fulfill your desires?
Sail the roaring seas, conquer every peaks,
Drive the world on your very own tires?
To find the peace you've always seeked,
What more could one man aspire?

Maybe the path is carved already,
Or maybe it isn't.
He has no way to know, really,
Other than to just keep livin'.

Maybe one day he'll find out,
Or maybe he'll never.
Maybe, that's the beauty,
Of forever.
