Reverie
Jayant Iyer Apr 2020
Trapped in your house, nestled up on your couch,
Nap time it is and the dream waves approach.

The half conscious mind scraps it as lame,
You wake up in a world which is never the same.

Mystical river gushing it's way down the valley,
Meanders through the meadows as if in a chirpy rally.

Foggy dawn arose in the tangled woods, signifying moment for yet another play,
Furtive as it thought bustling across the branches, jittery tiny squirrel misses its prey.

Enriched with minerals, the rill erodes gently forming the lush and fecund soil,
Spring season it is, rejoice the farmers as they are on their way out to toil.

Serene silvery moonlight radiates the patio, a poignant distant tune that is soothing,
Sweet mom exclaims dinner time it is, you reach out to devour the luscious pudding.

Gleaming sunlight streaming through the window swiftly jettisons your reverie,
Glooming, you surmise if the dreamland you experienced briefly is all that you will ever see.
