Lily
A lot of sand, earth, and mud
Burying the grave, the silence tossed
The pain, the loss, the blood
Emotions not yet ready to be crossed
She said:
“I’m too tired to help.
I’m too tired to stay
In this room where you weep,
So please, just go away.”

“Find someone else to console,
The aching heart you display;
I’m too drained to help,
So please, just go away.”

“Ok, fine,” I reply.
“I’ll leave your room and let you rest.”
“I’ll let you lie here,” I sigh
“I’ll cry alone, a broken mess.”

She said to me, “I need your help
I’m sad and lonely here, so please
I know how broken you have felt,
But just forget that and help me.

I say, “No. I’m too tired to help.
I’m too tired to stay
In this room where you weep,
So turn around and go away.”

Maybe before, if you were there
If you had held me in your arms
I would soothe your pain, would care
About this thing causing you harm

But you made me too tired to help,
Made me too tired to stay
In this room where you weep,
So take your tears— and go away.

Ancient trees entwine
Bluebells spread upon the moss
Beauty lines the path
sitting in a pub writing
a poem but it
wasn’t very good and the
beer was awful

I am not the only person to words rhyme.
I am surly not the only 'poet' of our time.
I am so grateful to be on this platform and get to read all of your amazing poetry!!! And even more thankful to anyone reading this for letting me share my feelings
We live in a world of

Dark skies
Rays of sunshine
White lies
Adults drinking red whine

Kids with conceptions
Not being listened to
So many exceptions
Nothing to do

Imperfections
Insecurities
People and connections
Fading to obscurity

Slicing ourselves
Because we are rare
Society compels
Tempting not be there

You touched my hand in ocean air,
The boardwalk hummed a sultry tune.
With cherry lips and windswept hair,
We danced beneath a silver moon.

We soared down coastal roads,
Chasing the stars, kissing the sky
Love bloomed in secret, sweet and bold,
Then faded fast like summer nights in July.

The sunset burned, the tide grew cold,
You whispered dreams, then slipped away.
Now memories, like dust and gold,
Still haunt the heat of yesterday.
