He Loves Her Still

He Loves her heart and soul
But she’s beautifully broken
He tells her he loves her but his words
Are like they’ve never been spoken

In her eyes he can see a battle raging
He has to turn from the violence
But he understands it’s the reason
For her frequent scripted silence

He tries to show her his love is true
His actions have an honest charm
He desperately tries to assure her
His love would never cause her any harm

Her wounds have left a scar
Penetrated long and deep
She closes her door and he
Is left to listen while she weeps

He wasn’t the reason for her pain
Or why she’s mentally ill
Any other man would just walk away
But in his heart He Loves Her Still

Melancholy Of Innocence

As the Sun kisses the day,
There’s a crisp misty morning dew
The past is behind me, I’m refreshed
With a promise of a day brand new

There’s a familiar fragrance in the air
And it pleasantly tickles my nose
I indulge myself with its essence
As I quickly realize it’s the scent of a Rose

I take in the moment wishing it could last forever as I watch the dance of a butterfly
In similar waltzes I noticed nature waking
A bee pollinating and a spider nabs a fly

I feel the warmth of God’s love come over me
And I truly know that I’ve been blessed
But as usual my time is short and I
Must get showered and dressed

I give my praise and thanks for my blessings
And especially his gift of my vigilance
My life is filled with every day enjoyment
Never missing my Melancholy Of Innocence

Inspired by and dedicated to
Melancholy Of Innocence.

My past darkness was my reason for
My Melancholy and it also robbed me of
My innocence so early that I never really had it. God’s love has removed my Melancholy
And as far as my innocence goes how do
You miss something you never had.

Free

I live in America and even with all of its
Problems there’s no where else I’d rather be
It’s one place in the world that’s known
As the land of the brave and free

The following words to all may be controversial but it’s my decree
Jesus is the answer and the only way
If you truly wish to be free

Jesus is the new covenant,he eliminates the
Temptation of the forbidden fruit tree
Jesus takes the chains that bind us in
The ******* of laws and breaks us free

His sacrifice makes the laws of the ten
Commandments just useless debris
Did I just type these words, am I insane
What do I know about being free

Does this mean that I can **** and steal
And commit sins like adultery
Am I now a Neanderthal running in
The wild crazy naked and free

Absolutely not and just the opposite, so
I know if I were to fall upon a scree
Believing in Jesus takes away my fear
Of my failure and it sets me free

My imperfections I know that I will always have and my value is like that of a bawbee
But Jesus love’s me unconditionally and
That knowledge truly sets me free

I don’t need the laws that show me the sins
I’m not to commit because I have the key
I believe in Jesus and that he died to give
It to me to open the lock and get free

I don’t have the temptation of a child
To sneak in the night to get the cookies
I don’t know how much more simple I can
Make it so you can understand being free

The laws tell us what we shouldn’t do but
They also tempt us I’m sure you agree
You know right from wrong but with the
Laws one cannot truly be free

The old covenant was the laws and it once
Had purpose but God could see
No matter how hard we tried to abide
We would fail and couldn’t be free

So he sent us Jesus as our savior and I
Wish I could put it in lights on a Marquee
His love is for all of mankind and it’s
Strong enough to set us all free

The Legend Of Featherstone

There’s a town just south of Savannah
Georgia and it’s named Darien
There lived a man named Featherstone
He lived like the ancient proletarian

It was in the time just after the civil war
As the story goes there we’re souls lingering
Confederate spirits that didn’t cross over
And their hauntings were shivering

Featherstone was the meanest man
In town and he stood six foot six
He’d beat another man to a pulp
And he’d do it just for kicks

But underneath deep inside
He proved he had a heart of gold
He put it in his head to end evil’s reign
Before he got too old

On a crisp September evening, the Moon
Was full and the fog was thick
They told him that it couldn’t be done
And he simply replied Aw Fiddlesticks

He slammed down his last Whiskey
Just before the toll of the midnight bell
He said I’ll end this evilness and take it
Where it belongs down in Hell

He walked out of the saloon with a chilling
Laughter that echoed throughout the town
He screamed hey demons of the Devil I’m
Gonna defeat you if I lay my life down

You could hear the Erie battle as the
Demons squealed one by one
The fight went on and on and on
Until the very last spirit was gone

Fight fire with fire and evil with evil
And the gore will chill you to the bone
Hear the echo of the battle and his laughter
And know The Legend Of Featherstone

Somebody’s Hero

In today’s world, youth is robbed
To early of it’s innocence
The power of evil is intruding
And persuasive with it’s wickedness

Yes the world is getting colder
Our acts of kindness are fading
Giving way to darkness and gloom and in
The waters of our pureness evil is wading

But you can be somebody’s hero
There’s no need to prey on the weak
They struggle with their everyday
Their lives are already bleak

It’s easier to be good than you think
Don’t be the one throwing the trash down
Instead be the one doing the right thing
And pick it up from the ground

Be somebody’s hero, hold open a door
And don’t be afraid to share a smile
Take some time to give of yourself
And be with someone for awhile

You don’t have to be a Doctor or nurse
Or a soldier or a first responder
Just join in on the fight and kindness
Is a powerful way to conquer

You don’t need a cape and have
Some kind superhero power
To be the one to save someone
In their darkest hour

It’s really just the simple things
It’s not always the Knight or Vaquero
Riding in on a horse to save the day
To be Somebody’s Hero

Lingering Lyrics

   As another dawn approaches
And the Sun kisses the sky
Nature is waking up and in lingering lyrics
In my head I hear a dog and a butterfly

When I was younger music was everything
Now when I listen, it takes me back in time
I still love listening and I savor all the
Songs of remembered rhyme

There’s too many to mention here and
I wouldn’t want to favor one over another
But I’m sure you know the ones I’m
Talking about like Sylvia’s Mother

The songs you don’t have to hear
But in your mind they’re as clear as day
Like American pie and who’ll stop the
Rain and let’s not forget Maggie May

Oh I could go on and on listing them
Especially if I mentioned songs by KISS
But this isn’t about that and besides
There’s still so many songs that I’d miss

And even if they were political like
Ohio and they remind us of violence
They are still songs we’ll never forget
Songs with substance like Sound of Silence

And as always there’s Hotel California
And I know our opinions will always vary
We all have songs we choose for our best
For some it’s Manic Monday or Voice’s carry

And believe it or not I like them too so let
Those speakers crackle with atmospherics
And crank up the music and enjoy all
Of those songs with Lingering Lyrics

A Letter To Death

I read a letter to death today
Written by someone who’s dying
And after reading it, uncontrollably
I just began crying

It shook me to the core
It was typed perfectly neat
Very few words, the author
Kept it very short and sweet

Unlike my poetry
This letter didn’t rhyme
But forever now
This letter will be etched in time

As I write this down, I realize
It will also be forever etched in my head
No I don’t think that I will
Ever forget get the words that I read

They were as follows—Dear Death
I’ve met life and he wants me to fight
But I’m so weak, can we meet
That was it, tied in a bow nice and tight

I wish I had never read it and now forever I’ll
Think of this person and their last breath
As the words that were written echo
From A letter To Death
