I saw a fire
In the eyes of her gaze
It burned in her heart
And i felt the flame

I fell in love with the warmth
She gave

And i had to beg her

                Never
to take it away

She was the sun
Shining her rays
She was the love
I wanted to make

I saw a fire
Burning with flames
And they kept getting higher
With the passion we made

I fell in love with the warmth
she gave
And I had to beg her

                Never
To take it away

She was the one
I always had dreamed
And I fell for her
When she fell for me

I saw a fire
And so did she
And we pour out desire
Like gasoline

I fell in love with the warmth
She gave
And I had to beg her

                Never
To take it away
Is the fire escape of love
still open
does it go both up and down
will it rescue you from the flames
of possession
promising only exit
never refuge from the heat
is the iron railing molten
as you step out on the landing
is the air too hot to breathe
as you take that one look back
is the smoke
a cloud that follows
your feet melting into sorrow
is that voice you’re hearing through the blaze
—the love you’re running to or from

I wonder why just when I learned to wait,
it was when you never came.
I wonder why just when I learned to laugh,
it was when you made me cry.
I wonder why just when I've learned to love you,
it was when you said goodbye.
