IT was a good speech from Sir Keir Starmer at the Labour conference.

OK, there weren’t many jokes. But that’s because he’s not generally a barrel of laughs, is he?

There was, for once, a bit of passion in his delivery.

But then, off stage, we had the antics of the odious Rupa Huq.

The Labour MP described the Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng as being “superficially” black.

What Huq meant was that you can only be properly black if you sign up to Rupa’s victim charter.

If you’re successful and black and don’t believe left-wing gibberish you’re not really black at all.

Huq has rightly been suspended by the party and has apologised.

But it’s a reminder that while Starmer has done a fine job of making his party electable, it is still full to the brim with racists like Rupa Huq.

During my first trip to Japan, a colleague from the US forgot his laptop at the park of all places. We rushed back there and the place was closed for the day.

Everyone was relaxed except me and my friend. Even the Taxi driver wasn't bothered. He promised to drive us there by' 9:00am next day because Park opens 8.45am.

He assured us we would get it back, that Japanese do not steal because stealing reduces a man.

That statement almost knocked me to the ground, this was 2012 not 1912.

I think anybody who is afraid of making heaven should visit Japan before dying because that's closest to the best humans can get to.

And that will give the person a picture of how organized heaven might be.

These are people who apologize because you heard the sound of their ringtone.

About 90% of Japanese leave their phones on silent mode so as not to disturb the next person.

They all have earpiece and are thinking of stopping having horns in cars because nobody uses it.

Long and short of the story is that we got there the next morning and the attendant took us to where we sat and behold the laptop was there.

It’s not by mistake that they are prosperous. The gross mentality and personality of a people determines their level of wealth.

ALMOST a quarter of families in Britain are single parent homes, a landmark new study reveals today.

It is nearly double the 13 per cent EU average - and more than 90 per cent of them are single mums.


Children's Commissioner Dame Rachel de Souza is demanding the next PM puts family values at the heart of their agenda.

She argues they have a "protective effect" during rough times and that kids with loving families are "more likely to succeed later on in life".

Of the 8.2.million families only 63 per cent are married couples and 14 per cent are co-habiting couples.

The 23 per cent of single-parent homes are much more likely to struggle financially, Dame Rachel warns.
