Only one year is added,
The same spouse with the same wierd habits,
The same children calling
for mummy all the time,
The same three bedroom house,
The same old car in need of repair,
The same maid coming to work,
She is more the boss than me,
The same pending bills to be paid,
The same friendly butcher,
The same cranky grocer.
Only our same neighbour has given birth to a baby girl,
After five boys.
Even the Gaza and Ukraine war is still ongoing,
Maybe I should change for myself,
Create a revolution for my self care.
A different spouse, mother and neighbour.

Growing old,
I am scared of losing my mobility,
Becoming incompetent.
Afraid, afraid of myself,
When I cannot even make a cup tea,
Sitting by the window in a wheel chair,
Looking at the grey sky,
The stench of a soiled pamper unbearable,
Waiting for somebody to help me.
How could I hold onto material things,
My pride and ego,
When I will be unable to balance a spoon or glass,
And when I drool and spill food on the floor,
My own glaring at me,
A burden.
Anxiety sets in the core of my bones,
When the day will come,
I will have to depend on my children for a glass of water and other needs,
My calls falling on deaf ears
Me a nuisance.
I pray the day does not come,
And if it does,
It does not take too long.

They tell me I am lazy,
Mind you I am not lazy,
My bones and muscles don't  want to move.
My mind tells me work hard and finish a project,
They tell me to switch on T.V. ,
Or play computer games,
To divert my mind,
Find a comfy spot on the sofa,
And indulge in it.
Just imagine,
They have even made me buy a book and mobile stand,
So they can get away holding them.
When friends and my children tell me to exercise or go for walks,
They threaten my little three ossicles ( ears)
Pretend to be deaf.
They made me do kegels,
To strengthen my sphincter  muscles,
They make sure I reduce the intake of water after evening,
So I don't have to go to the toilet often,
My heart, lungs and brain take their sides ,
After all the organs are protected by them
Even my eyes have become blind to their Idleness.
And if I make a point to make them work,
They say it's not their fault
They remind me I have arthritis,
I lack minerals in my body,
As such I feel lethargic,
So I have started taking Vitamin D and B 12,
Ginger and turmeric.
At least now they do few exercises and walk indoors for ten minutes,
Other chores they refuse blaming my spine as back pain,
Preventing me from standing for long.
They are as stubborn as a mule,
What to do ?
They say if I act smart they will have me hospitalised ,
So I have hired a helper to assist me around the house.

I dreamt I had a grave accident and was admitted in a hospital,
I was in ICU,
The doctors were trying their best to save me.
As I was breathing my last,
I saw Gibrail with an Angel
He took my soul and gave it to the Angel to take me to Heaven.
We travelled through an incredibly lighted tunnel,
Its aureole was amazing.
We soon reached the Gates of Heaven,
Thousands of Palestinians stood patiently at the gates,
Wounded, mutilated bloodied,
But calm and at peace,
Eagerly awaiting their turns to enter the Gates.
My Angel had a special pass and we entered from a side gate,
Inside was chaos,
Thousands of Palestinians waited patiently to be allocated their place,
Amazing, here not a scratch could be seen on them,
They were attired in the most beautiful clothes,
Drinking from the fountain of  Hauze Kawthar,
Eating fruits from the Garden of Eden,
Peace, serenity and happiness
written on their faces,
There were smiles and laughter everywhere
Flustered army of Angels scurried here and there to meet their every needs,
Plus allocate them their abode.
Suddenly the Head Angel's eyes fell on me,
Why have brought her she said,
We are very busy with the thousands of Palestinians ,
They are all martyrs,
They all must have the highest VVIP place in Janat,
Please take her back,
We don't have a place to accommodate her,
We have already requested Allah to do something to stop the flow.
And in a blink of an eye I was back at the hospital,
My heart machine beeping,
My children gave cries of joy
shouting for the doctor.
