Salmabanu Hatim Sep 2020
This world here is transitory,
Your every breath a gift,
Your life on loan,
Live it in a such a way that your story is written on golden pages,
Making you eternal.

Wrong Side Of Age
Salmabanu Hatim Sep 2020
After seventy,
I am like a youth,
I have the same:
Feelings,
Desires,
Longings,
Likings and
Mischief,
But my body is not supportive at all.

Not Allowed
Salmabanu Hatim Sep 2020
I almost died in a car accident,
I saw the Angel of Death take my
husband with him,
I desired to leave the world too
with my beloved .
The conductor refused me to board the bus,
Saying my name was not on the list for almost twenty years to come.
So here I am writing poetry on HP.

Crushed
Salmabanu Hatim Sep 2020
When the doorbell rang,
I went to open it with a huge smile on my face,
My heart had its own melody,
Eagerness my song.
But, as soon as I opened the door,
The lyrics were messed up,
Discord in my heart,
Dismay  reflected on my face,
She was at the door bubbling with joy,
Showing off her diamond ring,
And her handsome fiance.
I saw the sun hide behind the clouds,
Heard my heart break,
But, with fake smiles I gushed over their engagement,
And invited them in.

Icecream!
Vanilla, strawberry, pistachio, chocolate, mango, orange whatever flavour,
Must have icecream,
Icecream in a tub,
Icecream in a cone,
Icecream in a cup
Icecream in a bowl,
Icecream in a spoon,
Lick them all.
Icecream in the morning,
Icecream in the afternoon,
Icecream in the evening,
Icecream at night and in the middle of the night.

Life's Like That
Salmabanu Hatim Sep 2020
A young pregnant woman took a bus to town,
As she took her seat,
Some people smiled,
Younger ones giggled,
Others laughed,
Then a child told her to look up.
She had sat under an advertisement which read,
"Rubber Goods Would Have Prevented This Accident."

Our Relationship
Salmabanu Hatim Sep 2020
She was the storm,
I was the calm in the eye of her storm,
She was the rain,
I was the cloud,
She was the arrow,
I was the bow,
She was the grenade,
I was the pin,
She was hot,
I was cool,
They say unlike poles attract,
That were us.

No Place
Salmabanu Hatim Sep 2020
Depressed I wanted to die,
I was about to take an overdose of pills,
When the Angel of Death stood before me,
If you want to die you are welcome,
But because of Covid 19 there is no place in Heaven only in Hell,
And you are dying when your time is not up yet.

Write For Yourself
Salmabanu Hatim Sep 2020
They say Hello Poetry is biased,
Some get lots of reviews,
Some don't although their poetry is as good,
Some poems trend with 6.4k likes and gets a Sun,
Whilst others are overlooked.
I understand you repost a lot of poems and you build a community that gives you many likes and comments,
For me writing poetry is to make me happy or deter from being sad,
Sometimes I write one of the best poems and I get only two likes,
It's okay for me,
NEVER MIND,
The most important thing is writing that poem made me happy,
It satisfied me and made me complete,
Everybody has different style, taste and likes,
But, I try to analyse where I have gone wrong.
