Happy Valentine
Salmabanu Hatim Feb 2021
I am happy I gave away me exes to the less unfortunate,
Today it's just me and my long walks to my well stocked fridge.
Cheers mum and dad on video call,
I love you,
Happy Valentine.

Chaos
Salmabanu Hatim Feb 2021
The Angel of Death is busy,
The Angels are busy collecting souls,
There is chaos in afterlife.
Accountability has gone haywire,
Souls meant for heaven have ended up in hell,
And vice versa.
Plea from above,
Vaccinate as many as you can to curb deaths.

Tears
Salmabanu Hatim Feb 2021
My eye faucet is mostly leaking,
It drips, flows or tumbles.
I cry at weddings,
I cry at funerals,
I cry watching T.V serials,
I cry  when my children cry,
When they don't listen to me,
I cry when my husband is annoyed,
I cry when when I see injustice,
So I cry in sorrow, pain, bliss and joy.
Crying lightens my heart,
I am not weak,
I am sensitive

But,every word I tried to write on paper,
Both my thoughts and pen coaxed me to go to sleep,
So I snoozed on.

Women
Salmabanu Hatim Feb 2021
Female has male at the end (side)
She has he at the end (side)
Woman has man at the end (side).
So woman was made from the side of man,
To stand beside him,
To be held at his side,
Protected and loved.

Pray For Others
Salmabanu Hatim Feb 2021
Apart from prayer times,
Mum would recite extra prayers,
Was always with a tasbih (prayer beads ) in her hand counting and doing duas.
Dad and us siblings would tease her and joke about her dedication,
She just smiled.
One day my elder brother asked her,"What do you get out of these prayers?
We are more successful, happier  and enjoying life to the full,
While you are always in prayers."
She smiled and said,"These are my rewards,
To have my family safe happy and never lack anything in life,
The tears I shed and the prayers I recite Allah answers  for you,
For my happiness is in yours,
And my rewards in your successes.

Cry
Salmabanu Hatim Feb 2021
Cry
I let my son cry as and when he wished like any female,
I never told him girls cry only,
Or it is ***** to shed tears.
Now he and his wife are on equal terms,
When she cries to get her way,
He cries more to get his way.

He Came
Salmabanu Hatim Feb 2021
After years of being apart,
Frequent pleas to see him,
Begging to hear his voice,
My son came at last!
When they were lowering my   coffin to the ground.
He was crying profusely and pleading for forgiveness,
I saw it all as my soul hovered over my grave,
I forgave,
For him it was too late to hear.

Crrrrrraaaaaacccccckkkkk,
I turn my neck left,
Crrrrrraaaaaacccccckkkkk.
I am just crunchy, crispy on top and spicy from inside.

Unchain your grudges and disparity,
And relish in the awesome experiences  life has to offer.

RIDA
Salmabanu Hatim Jan 2021
A veil with a unique touch,
A dressing that sets you apart,
Not a hijab, niqab or burqa that requires face covering.
Rida is a two piece covering,
Worn only by Bohora women,
A fashion created to interpret identity.
It is in exotic or subtle colours,
Exquisitely embroidered or painted ,
Embossing the dynamite art work of nature and flora on fabric.
A rida has a pleated long skirt like a Ghagra,
Paired with a tunic that looks like a poncho called a pardi
A tea cosy walking on a road
Bohoras are a sect of shias,
And rida identifies us as a community  from other Muslim enclaves,
It reflects our culture,
And speaks about our lifestyle.
I wear a rida,
It liberates me to know who I am,
As perceived Dress how you
want to be addressed
30/1/2021.
A hijab covers the head chest and sometimes the face
A niqab keeps the areas around the  eyes open,
A burqa has a mesh screen for vision

Poetry(Writer's Block)
Salmabanu Hatim Jan 2021
He sat there solemnly,
With a piece of paper and his lucky pen,
Burning candles till dawn
Not a word yet in his mind,
The paper blank.
He opened his window to let in the fresh morning breeze,
He saw the sun rise slowly,
The sky blissful and blushing,
The birds chirping in their nests,
The butterflies fluttering around the morning dew petals,
Blossoming to the morning glory.
His thudding heart bloomed too,
Handcuffs unlocked,
Brimming with an ocean of emotions,
Filling the mind with lyrical words and thoughts,
And out poured from his soul the most beautiful poetry.

As I stepped out of the front door to meet my fiance,
The cheeky full moon followed me,

My fiance and I agreed to have a romantic dinner under the enticing  moonlight,
Feeling love for each other over and over.
