Instead you fed me too,
That was your kindness.
Then you went out and spread the tale how you pitied me,
And fed me,
That was the sharpest knife with which you stabbed me

Stolen Kisses
Salmabanu Hatim Nov 2021
I stole the cup of coffee she had at a restaurant,
The edge is stained with her red lips,
The colour of the lipstick she wore.
Now I kiss her red lips etched on the cup,
Lightly and lovingly,
Oh! I would give anything to kiss those soft lips,
But for now, the cup will do.

Sharing Sorrow
Salmabanu Hatim Oct 2021
She drowned me in her sorrows,
She cried,
I too, cried,
Our noses running,
The box of tissue almost empty.
After sometime, she sat up,
Tidied herself,
Eyes tomato red,
Went to the fridge,
Munched a piece of cake and gulped down a glass of juice,
"Thanks, I feel better," she said, and left.
I was drained from her emotions ,
And really angry at her audacity,
Next time, I will only help with listening.

Mental Health
Salmabanu Hatim Oct 2021
Donate with an open heart,
Don't choose colour,*** or religion.
Keep an open mind,
For sometimes what you give in charity to less fortunates ,
They sell the items to go and see a movie,
Eat at a restaurant,
Or buy some items that makes them happy.
I think that's okay if it brings them joy,
A respite from their dreary life,
Everyone deserves to be happy,
And by giving if you boost their mental health is also important.
In "Jack and the Beanstalk"
Jack's mum also told Jack to sell the cow to get things they wanted.
It's okay,
Don't feel bad,
Your things fed their mind too.

Changed My Life
Salmabanu Hatim Oct 2021
I was a dark canvas like the night sky,
Grumpy and annoying,
Then she came into my life,
A gorgeous star full of sparkle,
Glistening with love.
Her goodness opened my heart,
Like a rose about to bloom.
My life took a turn,
Brimming with sunshine,
Filling me with joy and laughter like a babbling brook,
Magically she twinkled away all my bitterness and sorrow.
Taught me to forget my past,
Worry away my sorrows,
And enjoy my today.
I am happy she is here,
To share my thoughts and understand me,
To make me aware how special life is.

No More
Salmabanu Hatim Oct 2021
When someone dies,
Never say he is no more,
Just he was.
For that someone lies in a grave,
We lovingly visit,
Or his ashes in an urn,
His photographs are in our albums,
Or photo framed on a shelf,
His videos saved on our laptop or mobile,
Most of all his memories cherished in our hearts.
He is not erased,
But a past tense

When You Left
Salmabanu Hatim Oct 2021
You broke my heart,
A breathing wound,
The weight of sorrow surging like waves on a stormy night,
My mind needing direction,
Mourning,
Pain surging to the very core.
Then something hits me from inside,
A sense of calm sweeps over me,
Faith whispers to me to let go,
You were not meant for me,
A sweet smile lightens my face,
The heart says to start anew,
Perhaps a rainbow awaits after the rain.
