Communication in cyberspace
Sonja G N Woods May 2017
I do not know you
but I like talking to you
You are far away
and yet so close
Your voice which I cannot remember
gives me comfort
in times of chaos and pain
Your eyes which have never caught my gaze
tell me that I shall be fine
You accidentally crossed my path
and yet it seemed so purposeful
I think I would like to know you

a white sheet of paper
Sonja G N Woods Jan 2019
this is  my gift for you
she said and gave him
a white sheet of paper

he looked at the paper
and was surprised
as there was nothing
written on it

it is empty
she explained
so that you can fill it
with the memories
of the happy times
we shall spend together

Feeling very still
Very empty

But my heart is quiet and full of pain

Two years ago it was him
And now it is you

But you are different and much kinder
And yet when I look into your eyes
I know you are also the same
And I anticipate you leaving me

Sonja G N Woods May 2017

In your eyes
As you look at me

Calming your burning heart

I know the moment
Will come soon
And smile at you
In anticipation

Islands
Sonja G N Woods Aug 2019
I like islands as
they let me escape
from the drudgery
of everyday life.
Once I land on an island
I cut off the rope
that secured my boat.
Then I open
my arms and heart widely
allowing freedom to replace
repression and fear.
After a while I am me again
and ready to take on
the impossible.
Then it is time
to take my mobile
out of my bag and check
my text messages.

Before and After
Sonja G N Woods Jun 2017
Before I came
I was sad
as I knew
I would never be able
to come again.

Now that I have come
I feel no sadness
as I have realised
that there is nothing here
I still want to have.

your smile
when you smile
I see the little girl
who was full of awe
about the wonders
of this world
had a sense of adventure
a believe that
anything was possible
and could be achieved
with lightness and joy
seeing you smile today
makes my soul dance
with happiness
as I can see
that despite  the challenges of life
the little girl has survived

she quickly adds:
But it will not happen
because there are
no volcanoes

Sonja G N Woods May 2017
We moved with ease in hyper reality
Laughing and joking with each other
And feeling light and comfortable
When gently pushing out the boundaries
Into a new world previously unknown to us
With every conversation our hopes and desires increased
Until we made the move into reality
