Green eyes, blue eyes
and some dark
stare upwards
sleepless, up and long,
looking on, reflecting
hopes and dreams,
emotion wheels fly up
like invisible chariots
of endless steams.

The full moon
listlessly looks down
illuminating all,
harboring secrets
of insomnia dreams.

It's a night of
countless eyes
locked on a moon
numerous visions
feasting one big truth:
Love of Life.
Tulip Chowdhury Jul 2014
I let go of it all,
and now feel happy, so free
like a bird, that soars high
leaving its nest
to the wind's whim.
In the space it is
all by itself
but so happy,
I am sure
or else, why does it fly
so high, again and again?

Material things
make me stick to life,
they are
like chewed gum,
a peculiar pleasure in chewing
although sweetness gone,
seeking permanence in life.

I no longer possess
that owning attitude
to anything, near or far
in the heart have disowned
all greed of the heart
conditioned all desires
to say "no" to anything binding.
No chewing gums in my mouth!

Disowned everything binding,
Now I own life
it coils to me
we are lovers
in freedom alone.

When the world sleeps
deep at night,
I hear the train passing by.

Rickety rick, rickety rick
captures my heart
and I get lost
to distant lands,
the soul wanders
with night travelers
moving in the dark.

There is definite welcome
in the train whistle
breaking stillness of night
to wake me up
and take my heart
to the unknown.

My heart and soul gone
the body lies on bed,
then sleep settles in
and the train takes form
in my wild, wild dreams.

Too many questions riddle the mind,
why a St Patrick's Day to define my wine
when I drink like a fish every day?

A marked day for mothers and women
when I give blood and flesh,
everything I own
as a homemaker or mother
every passing moment?

I feel like giving a birthday gift
to my beloved every day
but can't
people would think I am insane
and so would my man.

Because I don't want a house,
a car, diamond or gold,
people call me a fool
but I'm richer than billionaires
with peace in my humble being.

I craved only love from you
no worldly things
yet you gave me a gold castle
while oblivious to my joy or pain.

Life is confusing I know
as proven again and again,
yet
why is there a question mark
waiting to be inserted
when life stares in vain?
Tulip Chowdhury Jul 2016
Question unanswered:
what does life hold,
on this fraction of a second,
one that is part of a minute,
a minute part of an hour,
an hour that's part of a day,
a day that's part of a year,
a year part of a century,
a century part of a decade
for eons beyond
AND, and, and, hmmmm..
Does it hold anything all ?
Tulip Chowdhury May 2016
Raindrops pattering
on my window pane
knock and call,
like your voice
and their wetness
hold your tears,
I miss you
as they fall.
Tulip Chowdhury Nov 2015
They fell, the raindrops,
such a long journey
from the sky,
came happily
hoping to find
green land, clears seas,
they had a purpose
you know:
have to rise again
and join vapors
to bless the earth.

Alas, there was too much blood
to wash away
into sea,
from Paris, Mali and more.

Why the change
they wondered
from a peaceful Earth
to a restless world?
Tulip Chowdhury May 2016
Her Majesty,
Rainy Sky
lifted her gray gown high
and out came golden stilettos
bathed in twilight
dancing on setting sun.

Wind held her hand
as my queen danced
drifting happily in waltz
towards the paradise
they went
through the gate of  rainbow.

Reality *****
it drains me out,
but and then at times
it gives strength
like a match stick
to spark flames
like a key
turning on engine
and
carries me to the summit.

Today's poem is letting friends know
I've taken a new vow
In a book called, "Red, Blue, Purple"
Available on Amazon
With words of heart
Wanting to touch other hearts
If they open the doors
And let me in.

Note: My publication is really on Amazon.com: Red, Blue, Purple by Tulip Chowdhury

If tears came in colors
tonight they are red
coming down my eyes
like rivers and streams
rushing to the sea
seeking solace.

Those ****** tears
coming in torrents
are emotional wounds
burst  unconstrained
and spitting pains
like a volcano
spraying ashes and fire
into the infinity.

But
unlike lava taking over lands
this sadness
will take the blue of oceans
and make them bleed
till water droplets rise
and fall back to earth
yet again
and for once
you will see some red rain.

I am sad today
let me cry.
Tulip Chowdhury Oct 2014
Oh my soul,
so restless today
like the fluttering wings of the dove
before it soars to the sky,
like the rustle of leaves
before the gusty wind,
like the calm of the sea
before the gale comes
like the stillness of the cloudy sky,
before summer storm breaks,
like the hush of winter snow
before spring enters with songs,
like the deepest breath
announcing the end.

Oh my soul
be restless as you please,
patiently I wait
for all that your restless will bring.
Tulip Chowdhury Jan 2021
Long time I was gone
when I came back
it was a different reunion
even though
you and I have known
each other for eons.

Absence not only makes hearts fonder
but changes us too.
Tulip Chowdhury Oct 2014
Awakening was not left behind
in the last step taken,
its not coming ahead
in the walk forward,
it's right here,
right in this beat of my heart
in the blink of my eyes.

I am awakened
are you?
Tulip Chowdhury Oct 2015
I don't wear rings anymore
they hook memories
like invisible magnets
and bring them to the shore.

Like washed away things
lying on the sand
they wink at me
as if to say,
what a folly
we are really.

I don't want
a ring
from anyone
ever again.

Help me God
hold my empty hand.
Tulip Chowdhury Apr 2016
A tree it was, a life
shaking from root to top,
as wind raged
with the gathering storm,
bending low, creaking loud
breaking branches
leaves tearing away
and finally crashed
to the ground.

Uprooted tree,
life accepted
sad but undefeated
yet, peaceful it seemed.

I looked on
somewhere
a similarity perhaps:
I was numb
had nothing to say.
Tulip Chowdhury Jun 2014
I am running, running
far away, far away
I want to go
leave behind all of these
please don't chase me
you, unhappiness
I am running away.

I am coming, coming
please stop a moment
let me catch up
I am running to you
you, happiness
I am coming to you.

But life, why so harsh be?
Why all the red signals
left, right, ahead and behind?
Now, where do I run to?
Tulip Chowdhury Jun 2014
Hot summer day
by the seaside,
dipped in the sea
waves come
rolling, rolling
breaking into surfs
spraying out high.

A drop of salty water
reaches my ears
goes deep
and I hear
the sea start a tale
an endless one
about mysteries in its deep,
countless life, flora and fauna
wrecked ships, drowned bodies
mermaids, dolphins, whales
octopuses, sea anemone and more
endless tales unfold.

I am lost on the land
captured by the sea
still telling me its tale.
Tulip Chowdhury Nov 2017
It's me, the real me you know
that I wish you would see
the psyche that stands before you
beyond attires of worldly need,
it's there only when you can see
really see you know.

Would the world a lesser chaos be
if we saw, really saw you know
what prevails beyond
all that allure us so?

What all that means really simple
you know
it's acknowledging the truth
for what is
beyond the colors of greed.

The soil gives life
to seeds that seek light
from deep within
likewise,
I have found peace
in the eternity of my being
hold my hand, will you please?

                                              See My Inner Being

See my inner being;
The soul that roams around
The heart that shares your life
All the tears and the smiles,
The doors are open
You can come and explore
And definitely you’ll find
A Me, that is full of empathy
Full of light to show you ways,
Willing to love
And reach out both hands,
When you are in doubts
To be there
Pointing out the right ways.

The outside self;
Is up to you to judge
But I would request
See my inside.
And then you decide
If you really want
To accept me
For what I am
And walk along
Stride by stride
Holding my hands
While two hearts
Beat as one!

Will you do that, just for once
And see my heart, for what I am?
Tulip Chowdhury Jul 2016
why disappoint me?
I don't know why
dear Dreams,
in day or night
you're hopeless, impossible,
at times insane too,
don't play cruel jokes
do you?
I wonder though
if that is because,
possibles are impossibles
in my real life,
so you adjusted
in coming with dreams
of impossible things?
Tulip Chowdhury Dec 2016
Life is shaping me
to be what I should be,
it shaped me
for what I am
it did hammer and chisel
in the past
shaping the being I was.

Wonder though
what does this sculptor
has on mind
to reshape me finally into what?

I will not know
for the last breath will still be
taking life's blows.
Tulip Chowdhury Sep 2014
Moonbeam falls on me
penetrates into heart
into soul
ti's full moon Love
I've sent the silver light
to where you are
in my soul
in my heart
we share, we share.

Midnight bells go
ears strain, eyes wide
Sleep, where are you?
Facebook, You Tube
insomniac's delight
take me in arms
cradle me but no use,
Sleep clicks heels with tango.

Passing breeze by the window
parts my curtains
outside, a silhouette stands,
a tree, a mystic form
against the night sky,
with rustling sounds
singing me lullabies.

I stare out
as eyelids heavy grow,
but the soul roams
with the moonlit night
till the body slows
and sleep comes.

Facebook, You Tube
faithfully play on
and dreams hang
on a  buffer zone.

Snow and cold may have given
aching bones, shivering body,
frostbites and numb states,
but deep inside
in my heart, in my soul
there is warmth
of a special kind,
a spring breeze
with a delicious touch,
for every snow-day
you hold me tight
and whisper those words
" I love you"

Polar Vortex can come
with all the snow it wants
but the fire inside
will never be out
you know.

Oh, my Johnny
I don't want snow to go,
for life will take
when spring wind blows.
Tulip Chowdhury Nov 2015
Music, art, history, science
all go on
cars, trains, planes, ships and boats
move on and on
man, animals, birds and bees
thrive in spring
oceans roll, clouds float
flowers dance
on mountains and hills.

But,
I can't move,
I breathe, but am not living
eyes open without seeing,
say, what I don't mean.
I am alone
set into calmness
a sublime loneliness.

No,
please do not pity me
or stand by my side,
thank you though.
Just to let you know,
there's a reservation
for someone special,
so
none else can fill in.
Tulip Chowdhury Nov 2015
Guilty:
I burn inside
and outside,
I hurt you, I know
watched while
you cried and raved.

Few days ago
I felt like a winner,
but now
something bothers
and pulls me down
and I feel defeated
don't know why
though.

Guiltless:
I will awake to victory
perhaps
if I let you feel
that you got your way
by tearing me
inside out.
But no
I forgive you
to the last drop
of all tears shed.
Somewhere within

while you bleed
I will find peace
through your misdeed.
Tulip Chowdhury Aug 2015
Life is
as it is
it was
what it was
it will be
what waits to be.

So what
is the big deal?

Let it all seep in
this life, I mean.
Tulip Chowdhury Apr 2015
Delicious wind blowing,
snow melting
water falls,
drop
drop
and a crocus
rising head,
peeps
peeps;
hi
spring.
Tulip Chowdhury Sep 2014
Deep in the night
darkness surrounds,
I walk, my lonely walk;
in the infinity above,
twinkle stars in millions,
smiling lazily, a half moon
winks at sleepless me,
night breeze sweeps by
kissing my wide eyes.

The world sleeps,
I walk on,
enchanted by the beauty
that night beholds,
awake I will remain
a company to the sky,
I've heard her call
to be by her side,
to sing the song
of her starlit, silver beams,
I cannot sleep
cannot miss
the magic of this night.
Tulip Chowdhury Sep 2015
Didn't want to sleep
stars were singing and dancing
alluring me
to unlock the door
and run to them.

But eye lids were heavy
and sleep came
while stars faded
like many distant dreams.

So much of life is lived
on a state of nothingness
this is life
and I sink in.
Tulip Chowdhury Aug 2014
At the moment
I vision my heart,
it's a sterling's nest
where last spring
the  sterling had sat
all alone
while summer came
and still alone
and then came fall
still alone'
he flew to another land,
hoping to find
the mate of his heart
while snow and ice
plundered his empty nest.
Tulip Chowdhury Jun 2017
Hello,
is there a way to stop
the bleeding
on my wounded pride?
Hola,
how can I stop that pain
hammering endlessly
on my heart?
Bonjour,
Is there a tear drop
to stop my crying
before tears fill the sea?
Tell me, if you please.
Namaste,
Help me please
douse the fire within
before I burn to ashes,
will you please?

Marhabaan,
What, no one?
Just tell me, at least,
what did I do
to deserve this?
Tulip Chowdhury Jun 2016
full moon stares
from a cloudless sky
night crickets drone
on and on
an owl hoots
to answer a fox
and serenading it all
my sleepless eyes
will not close tonight
not all.
Tulip Chowdhury Jun 2014
On my usual flight
from Dallas to Boston,
I saw her,
a perfect belle
a white summer dress
red roses in print
Alfred Dunner perhaps?

Lips pouting,vermillion red
delicate nose, dark sun glass
a Gucci, I could see,
scent of Nina Ricci perfume
reached my nose
"Lucky lady", I told myself.

Me in modest clothes
wondered how happy she was,
sure as looks do tell;
diamond ring
perfectly poised,
commuting to work place
has a good job for sure!

On a sudden impulse
glanced at her face,
and was just in time to see
large drops of tears
slide lazily
from behind the dark glasses
roll over the cheeks
and fall on the lap,
and then another
and another.

Yet she sat still
faintest tremor on the lips
I  imagined a volcano
erupting in her heart.

I looked at my faded skirt
and closed my eyes,
wondering, wondering;
joy and sorrow
elusive indeed,
where do they strike
how do they ****?
Tulip Chowdhury Nov 2014
I yield to death
not to acknowledge defeat
nor the end,
but for the naked truth
that I love life
in all aspects,
and death happens to be
just one part of life,
an inevitable happening
and so I am in peace
waiting for life to bring
death when it wants.

I love life too much
to let it down.
Tulip Chowdhury Feb 2015
hey poetry, lovely words
good moods, sweet smiles
where have you gone?
Troublesome life washes away
waves of gladness
found in poems
and instead delivers sand
to my clear streams;
streams of happy thoughts.

Hey sweet poetry
please, turn around
come back to me.
Tulip Chowdhury Aug 2014
Have so many tear bottles
yet none can hold my tears,
they hold the watery drops
but not the reasons,
so why the tears bottles?

Blast it, they only add
add to more tears
that flow in the heart
who sees that tear ocean?

Dream catchers, ten of those
hang overhead
ten sizes, ten colors,
but no dreams come true,
the happy ones you know.

Dream catchers fail
and nightmares trail
all my daydreams,
I sleep on
hoping, dream catchers will catch
some cherished dreams
and put the nightmares
in the tear bottles,
the fears will be lost
in those false hopes
of finding meaning in unhappiness
in the tear bottles
while tears and dreams
play their game
in tears bottles and dream catcher's whims.
Tulip Chowdhury Jan 2016
Eyes welled up with water
two drops came out,
started rolling down.

You saw them?
My dear,
they were not only two
but endless streams,
not small in size
but oceans of tears,
it was a life crying
for a love lost
in a gun tragedy.

It was teardrops
speaking for humanity.
Tulip Chowdhury Jul 2016
I cannot define this emptiness
that roams around,
in happiness
it casts a shadow,
in bad times,
me,  it swallows,
when senses go numb
it makes me go
round and round
seeking its whereabouts
and my full  life
makes no sense.

I cannot define this emptiness
can you?
Tulip Chowdhury Dec 2013
Termites, those invisible, destroyers
eating away, eating away
bit by bit, I can hear
slow and steady
gnawing away
so determined to hurt me
destroy the bit I have, only
this time its not wood
its flesh and soul
they eat away
bent on finishing me
my whole being.

Have you seen these termites:
that eat the inner being?
Tulip Chowdhury Nov 2015
There's calmness within me
like a quiet sea,
no hushing or rushing sounds
no waves crashing
but a massive body of blue
rolling, rolling
yet there's
deep growling
echoing from the seabed.

Today
I hold peace
like a pause,
a hold on breath,
like the silence
preceding screams,
or the serenity
before a storm,
or the final sigh
before death descends.

I am scared
petrified,
of raging hurricanes
following my solitude.
Tulip Chowdhury Sep 2014
Weary, lonely, totally lost
I wonder why, why
this soliloquy,
the thought train
rambling on,
lifeless, aimless
a total nowhere,
for you
are not listening.

A futile day,
meaningless sunrise,
oh,
you didn't say,
"love you too."
Tulip Chowdhury Aug 2018
From me to you
and from you to me
it's only three words
that we need to say,
just THREE words
you know,
to make dreams come true.

Or is it really,
that simple to say,
" I love you!"

Why do we talk all day
but could not say,
those three words anyway?

Come tomorrow,
shall we try?
Tulip Chowdhury Jul 2014
I wear this wedding ring
But I really don't know why
never thought really
until you asked,
the ring is there, sure thing
but where is the marriage?

No one looks into my heart
eyes falling on the diamond ring,
they see the "taken" sign
in assumption retreat,
perfect gentleman
respecting ******* of this kind.

I wait,
maybe some day
someone will see beyond
what social etiquette means,
see a heart in that ring,
look into my eyes
read the feelings behind,
dare to invade
and become my knight
in shining armor,
conquer sleeping feelings
beneath that stone.

Captive in my ring
I am a chrysalis,
the butterfly trembles
waiting to fly,
who will see
beyond my wedding ring?
Tulip Chowdhury Sep 2015
There is no poem today
only my silence
against the loud call of the eagle,
a hush
to greet the changing season.
Tulip Chowdhury Apr 2014
Love has no colors, no shapes
Sizes or definitions,
Love is nothing
Love is everything,
Love is just YOU.

Love is foolish
Love is craziness,
It’s  total madness
Of a delicious kind.

Love is your absence
Love is your presence,
It is pain in passion
It is bliss in kisses.

Love does not speak
Does not sing or paint,
It hangs invisible
It is souls entwined.

Love is miracle,
Love is getting lost,
Whole world forgotten
While your lips are on mine.
Tulip Chowdhury Feb 2017
Wishes run, hopes soar
and I just don't know
where to stop
when my being
wants to be held,
just someone
to be there
outside flesh and blood
blended into one being.

Hold me, hold me
please, sh...sh...
not a word at all.
Tulip Chowdhury Dec 2014
Snow falls, drifting, slowly
piling on hills and meadows
chilly wind , really cold,
but I am in eternal spring
held in your *****
heavenly warmth
a touch of spring
while snow flakes,
peeping from outside
pile on window panes.
Tulip Chowdhury Jul 2013

Honk...honk...
          our eyes unlock
               traffic light's yellow!
Wait, don't want to  miss
         Cupid's arrows!
             don't you think
                 we just had it all?
  But...oh!
  Traffic light is green,
      pressing accelerator
           he's turning left
   me right
       hopes ditched!
             Traffic lights,
                 can't do this!
Hit highway
      no stopping
           car rushing, yet
hearts keep crying
