Mom
Words can hurt,
words can heal
words can change the way we feel.
I said some things that I regret,
an ideas sprouted,
an idea set
nothing I can do can undo what's done
I guess that's the burden of being a mum.
A mother's job is to love and care
it's pretty hard to do when your sons unfair
feelings hurt,
a heart gone broke
this situation is not right, and it is no joke
the heart of a mother is strong and true
even for a son who sometimes fails you

the last thing I saw was your face, with a tear
what a look that was, and made it so clear
I was wrong,
I am wrong,
is all I can say
I hope this speaks to your heart, and maybe one day
we'll look back on this mess and all the distress
the heartache and heartbreak and pains in the chest
The story of a son who made his mom sad,
Words that were spoken, nothing meant to be bad
A misinformed boy, not knowing any better,
Said what he thought was the truth, right down to the letter
How wrong he was, with the opinions of others
Unaware of this, he told his mother
His version of things,
 misinformation and all
Boy o boy,  he blew it!
And has never felt so small.
He knows a simple poem cannot make things right,
he wishes you were here,  so he could hug you tight.
