oft heard floating through the Gwydir River gums
the chanting of indigenous peoples hums
from the Boorolong uplands to the Western water plains
here these ancestral chants do eternally refrain

chanting
chanting
in a tone so clear
chanting
chanting
so that we may hear
chanting
chanting
along the river's trace
chanting
chanting
of a special place
chanting
chanting
in a unified tune
chanting
chanting
morning night and noon

when next your by the Gwydir's flowing course
give your hearts to this ancient discourse
worthy of the soul are these resonant sounds
floating ever timelessly where the river gums abound

chanting
chanting
over rocks and sands
chanting
chanting
the linking of hands
chanting
chanting
of a unique past
chanting
chanting
may the chanting last
chanting
chanting
of a tribal stream
chanting
chanting
a people's dream

I am the sun
Bringing you light and joy
I am the sun
Shedding light across your path
I am the breeze
Caressing your face
I am the wind
Bitterly howling at night
I am the moon
Watching over you while you sleep
I am the stars
Twinkling in the night sky
I am the flowers
Dancing at your feet
Or the ones placed in your hair
I am the mighty waterfall
Singing you a song
I am the ocean
Beautiful and forgiving
I am the sand
Cooling your bare feet
I am the rainbows
Splashed with color in the sky
I am the snowflakes
That gently kiss your face
I am the rain
That you so dearly love
I am the sun
Burning brightly
Just bringing joy to your day
I am the sun
Just casting light across your way

little girls grow up

who once reached for the birds singing in the trees
now she is one of them,
the uncatchable song

i knew you as an awkward, silly, pudgy thing
but death changes people
and makes them more beautiful -

too many lose brothers.
for shae, in memory of kyle.
Fixating on the emotions you provided
But only for a second in time

Before you had me falling between the cracks
With a touch of your hand

Moments pass at accelerated speeds
My heart flutters.

Vibrations rush through my perplexed mentality
A loss of affection transpires

Beneath this dark facade suppressing my energy
A troglodytic character exposed

The inception of just another fantasy you implemented
Like any other dream I envisioned

A borderline ecstasy of pleasure.

the French palate doth enjoy a little horse
a batch of it hath been recognized
their meat products ill categorized
consuming countries seeking some recourse
a mix up at the meat supplier's end
hath drawn many persons to keenly question
the thoroughness of factory inspection
bovine and equine meats differ in blend
the affair hath been verily upsetting
those who didn't follow with consistency
now have a smattering of egg on face
the episode is most embarrassing
food items should guarantee authenticity
once they're on the market they cause disgrace

She was pretty.
Scratch that.
She was beautiful.
Scratch that too.

She was more beautiful,
Than a sunrise on a winter morning.
Or a rainfall on an autumn day
Where the leaves dance in the wind
And fill the sky with life.
More beautiful than a flower
That breaks through the cracks
Of a concrete garden
And brings color to the air.
She was more beautiful,
Than any poem that's ever been written.

She was beautiful.
Scratch that.
She still is.

When everything else seems so awry, I count on you. There are times when I start (loving) caring for someone who is not you, and it just goes horribly wrong, like I am a naked child who is flung out onto the world, alone. I wanted them to the point where it was already crippling me, killing me inside. I come back to you from time to time and you are always there to save me even though you might not really know it.

And so I need you because I don’t really know how to love anybody else. It’s always been you.

When I’m on my lowest or highest, there’s got to be something that will bring me back to where I’m supposed to be: to the comfortable normality, to the only thing where I’m actually safe. And that is you. When everything else goes wrong, you make it seem very right.

You are my neutralizer. You are my safe haven.
As daylight shone through my open window
I write this to you, for you alone
for every ounce of faith I have,
I have in you, for you alone.

And they say you cannot write a poem
without moonlight caressing your soul
as if night itself is the key to your heart.
It is not, for the key is found in you, for you alone.

You see it isn’t impossible; playing Debussy
with the sun shining, that the tremor brought by
the soulful ache of Clair De Lune can be delivered
any time of the day. This ache I share with you,
for you alone.

I touch the soil where we freed all our aches, and all our rage;
and I try to remember everything in vivid details: the corners of
your mouth trembling and your Adam’s apple bobbing, the way
you rested your hand on the caverns of my *****.. The fire was gone but I still feel you there. This I remember not for what it’s worth, but
for you alone.

I think of you and how you held my head in the meadows,
while we lay in your Mom’s plaid picnic blanket, reading Sylvia’s
words to my heart’s content. We should meet in another life,
she said, we should meet in air, me and you. And I will meet you
there, not to live the other life or breathe the air; I will meet you
there for you and for you alone.
