As the autumn winds blew I clung on for dear life
but my grasp grew tired and I floated on the wind
I watched my home drift further and further away
when I landed all was silent until I heard footsteps

I was scooped up with the nuts the grass and the mud
and carried off to a place I now call home
kept warm away from the snow and the rain until spring
when more little bodies needed my warmth

They left and I was alone but not for long
a twit twit twoo was welcomed to my home
and soon there was more feet than I could handle
chaos when the worms and bugs tried to escape

As summer ended again I was alone until autumn blew in
more nuts grass mud and leaves gathered at my home
we cwtch down for the winter
with our fury friends
I followed the tortoise on my journey thru life
we stopped and pondered studied the stars
and watched the sea, was it in or was it out
People were our main observation
how strange we all are how different
We learnt love, humility and kindness
were our greatest assets
we learnt that not all agree But we learnt

You followed the hare on your journey thru life
you never stopped to ponder, watch or observe
you never felt love, humility or kindness
you never learnt
all that mattered to you was you

At the end I asked did you enjoy your time
for the first time you pondered
a tear touched your cheek
The flames burnt high
I pictured hell as I heard the screams
of the innocent, sobbing
a crowd gathered but not in silence

Hysteria built and hatred grew
the crowed turned to a mob
burn the witch
burn the witch

The hunters scanned the crowd
for sympathizers
burn the witch I shouted
burn the witch I shouted

I stole her ashes
in the evening after next
and scattered them in the woods amongst the
parsley, sage , rosemary and thyme
His staff struck the stone
and his words echoed in the valley
Only then
when the night sky is lite up like day
and the moon turns a blood red
Only then
will you return
For seven years I flew as a Hawk
high in the clouds
stalking my prey
I roosted that summer's evening
as I have for the last seven years
only to see the moon turn a blood red
the night never came
I watched a comet steal across the sky
all stood silent
I fell through the branches to the earth
A boy now a man
never to walk that path again
I vowed
Lest the staff strikes the stone
Your door was open so I peeked inside
I spied all the corners where you try to hide
Then I noticed on the wall your thoughts colored in grey
revealed the secrets inside you were trying to say
The diary on you desk I was tempted, but no
your footsteps in the hallway was my signal to go
So from now on I'll listen be patient, be kind
for I know deep inside your the girl I've been longing to find
When we kissed for the first time
our embrace lasted our lifetime
and our love never wavered
even death could not part it
They say you live many lives
as you walk the walk
I've passed from the dark end of my street
to a place of peace
happiness has found me bathing in the light
but the darkness searches for me
and now I'm scared
scared of the people who will be hurt
by the dark end of my street
Not You. The people I love.
You don't matter in the dark end of my street
Politicians stare you in the eyes and smile yet they have so many secrets!
