Among the dark poets
Tammy M Darby Nov 2017
From a murky corner I emerge briefly
Penetrating and blinding
Shone the light upon my face

To gush a few words of insanity
If I may say so though tongue in cheek
With a touch of eloquence and grace

A rare moment of clarity though quite fleeting
Upon you my irrational thoughts in verse I endow

Among the dark poets
I willingly take my place
And exit normality with delight and an awkward bow

What are you?
Tammy M Darby Aug 2013
Are you resting quietly
Without a sound
No longer a slave to emotions
Or earthly bound

Perhaps
A ghost floating through the air
Being a spirit having not a care
Except to find a place to rattle your chains
Haunting the living
On the wax and wane
What are you

Are you a complex combination of alien energy
Enlightened soul in flight
Mixture of protons neutrons electrons
A blinding atomic light

Or just a cool body
Placed in the ground
Mourners in single file
Solemn faces come round
Each one expressing their sadness
At your departure

What are you

The Curse
Tammy M Darby Sep 2013
The moon waned yellow
On green bough slip
Flowing water to putrid wine
Upon evil lips

Eyes cloud hazy
With cobweb veil
Dark soul shudders
Horned demons sail

Hands shake and tremble
As magic drams do fetch
Loneliness lays heavy covering
On a marked doomed wretch

Honed fine sharp edge
The heart will slice
Rest in black silk coffin
Blood cold as ice

A watery grave
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
Sinking
Into roaring cream capped waves
Though many will try with out stretched hands
I cannot be saved

Swallowed up without a struggle
By green oceans deep
As the mermaids watch my slow descent
They begin to softly weep

I am falling into oblivion
A still watery grave
Onto the soft sand bottom
Where the beautiful lady fish play

Never more
Shall my flesh be seen
Just worn bones bleached white
At the bottom of the sea

Love
Once upon a time
It rendered me weak
Wary
I crave not its company
I choose to be
Singular
Alone
Rather than vunerable
Avoiding the pain of attachment
The sickly sweetness of affection
The irritation of adoration

Love
Once upon a time
Blinded were my eyes
I silenced my cries
Covered the bruises
So none would know
I submitted to the blows
Red stripes filled my craving for attention
For my emotions ran deep

Love
Once upon a time
I became who I am now
Open were my eyes to that which I could not see
To hatred hidden behind loves face
Never again will I allow this to be
I choose to be solitary
Reclusive
I force love to vacate my heart
I am no longer weak

Love once upon a time

White dust in golden skies
Atoms and protons of the universe
Mortal
Destined to die

The blackness of our souls
Revealed in dead eyes
As the creator call us rise from our graves
In cold coffins unmoving we lie

Shadows of the underworld
Fate place upon us aged hands
Strong heart that beats in sinewy chests
Is the silent downfall of man

Love and life's ills take tragic toll
Until we breathe no more
Forgotten
Lying in decaying ground
Still and silent evermore

The cutis anserina raise cold upon your arm
The brain dispatches a foretelling chilling alarm
It is panic that has you in its grasp
I daresay your destiny
Though somewhat delayed come at last

You focus your frightened gaze rapidly from left to right
Wishing the sun break the dawn and begone this haunted night
Your inner voice speaks to you
Turn round if you dare
The hair slowly rises on your neck
The cautious self tells you to beware

Ring covered fingers icy run up your spine
Struggling to remain conscious
Your heart is pounding
Counting breaths you mark the time

Drenched in sweat you stumble headlong into the dark
Unaware an actor on the stage merely playing a part
Flee as far as you wish and swiftly as you can
There is no eluding the touch of fears hand

It is panic that has you in its grasp
The arms of fate
Clutch you to her stone breast and hold you fast
They call your name
You must bow to the gods
And breathe your last

Waking Nightmares
Tammy M Darby Sep 2013
The days pass rapidly now
I no longer remember your face
Yet I still recall the salty taste
Blood in my mouth from a hard blow

Wiping away the tears
To rid myself of memories
Do my utmost best
On the ground I lay
Your boots to my chest
Ah yes
This pain remains with me still

Terrible heart pounding dreams
Tender spots on my head
The striking of your fists
The color of red coats my long brown hair

Hands around my throat
Squeezing tight
Your intention evident
As my breath is taken
To extinguish my life

Why is it
I live in fear
Of attack
Day after day
From darkness to dawn
Though you are not near
My heart warns beware
As I must continue to exist
Or find a pathway to escape
Waking nightmares

Hate
Tammy M Darby Jul 2013
It keeps me warm
Though it is a soul’s
Consuming life storm
Controlling choice and action
To illicit intentionally with malice
A desired reaction

The thoughts of revenge
Quicken my blood
Perhaps only by myself
Clearly understood

Prompted by pseudo ****** in dreams
Forced to rise from my bed
Visions of death
Float wildly in my head
Hate
It keeps me warm

These embers of emotion
Burning coals
Glowing red and orange
Radiate from a warm  heart
Transformed into sour wood

I am the billows
With searing burning words
Fanning the flames
Until what I despise
Shall be no more
Hate
It keeps me warm

Tammy M Darby Apr 2014
During the years of my lifetime
That which should never be imagined
Became
Blood ran through the streets
Cursed day
In dark deep holes
Blessed with white lime
The cold bodies lay

Orphans shall be the children
Of this massacred generation
Humans bore the blame
For the chaos in the world
The red burning devastation

In long rows of dirt holes the remnants lay
Candles upon their chest
Revealing ashen faces
Death’s cold grim graces
When the crimson night
Exploded into black day
That which should never be imagined
Became

Sounds of the Night
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
The noise beyond the roaring city bustle
The cars
Harsh blaring horns
Frogs croaking in a pond
The whippoorwill its sad call
Solitary
Quite forlorn

Crickets talking in a  secret rhythmic language
Bats fluttering eyes shining
Left to right
Snakes wiggle across cold ground
Wildcats scream calling
Into a eerie starlight sky

Silver speckled fish leap out of the water
Splashing
Continuous  ripples
For the winged bug in flight
Armadillos root for their food
Having sufficient but limited sight
The owl swoops into predatory dive
In its sharp claws his meal clutched tight
These are creatures of the darkness
The unique musical sounds of the night

Talk of love
As though they know it
Sitting in their little rooms
Feeding off others
Pain and gloom

Heart shaped pens
In their trembling hands
Writing from experience
About the treachery of man

Songs sung loud
Sad and clear
Love abandoned
Loves tears

Poems of despair
Hurt and woe
Hiding from the world
What do they know?

Tammy M Darby Nov 2013
A rare exotic meal
The emotions to destroy
****** and ****
I discipline my hands
Of my actions in command
My obsession with revenge being quite real

I consume hate
Passion will be my crime
An assassin of love
Silently bidding my time

Justice power unbound
When they place you cold in the ground
For you see I consume hate
A bite at a time

Please pardon me as from society I quietly withdraw
As chaos rapidly approaches inadvertently consuming us all
I can see no sign of goodness in the heart of humans
No visage of the future as it is submerged in red

Kings of the darkness devoured by greed
Each sits haughtily on a throne of fire
Rife with the odor of rotting souls and coin
When the Angel of death quietly called

Now burdened with fear at what they had created
That which could not be undone
Drenched in repentance
They fell to their knees
Bowed low their heads and prayed
Alas the hour had passed for forgiveness
And so too dying of the day

Please pardon me as from society I quietly withdraw
As the chaos rapidly approaches inadvertently consuming us all
I can see no sign of goodness in the heart of humans
No visage of the future as it is submerged in red
Alas the hour had passed for forgiveness
So commenced the disappearance of man

I await you
Tammy M Darby Nov 2013
Come to me
Burning hearts desire
As stars dance across the night sky
I await you

Though only a shade you may be
You are that which I live and breathe
A love I shall never physically posses
For no life beats in this alien chest

Only during the night while I sleep
My mind saturated with thoughts
Darkness  seeds
Childish mistakes
Present choices
The paranoia of a vivid imagination
Insanity's voices

When slumbers silver carriage arrives
I open the door and prepare for the ride
Hands outstretched
I plead with no shame
While all the world sleeps
Come to me in my dreams
I await you

Roll the Dice
Tammy M Darby Nov 2013
I spun the wheel
Rolled the dice
Lay down the cards
Clicked my heels together twice
And I lost
This time
But it is not always so

Life is a gamble
A complicated game
Of twisted roads
Unknown faces
It is a dangerous risk that must be taken

Bet your money
Bet your life
Bet your love
Roll the dice
Shuffle the deck
Play the hand you are dealt

Up the Ante
Poker faced bluff
Hold them
Fold them
Take the ***
Sometimes you win
Sometimes you will lose
The choice to keep on playing
Is  always up to you
But if you posses the courage
Roll the dice

A Flaw in our Species
Tammy M Darby May 2018
I cannot comprehend the constant yearning for attachment
Though it is a slow poison
For some an ongoing destruction
Still it is constantly sought
This emotion they call love

That word I can hardly force my lips to say
With a sweet taste in my mouth
I can only describe it from experience
As a weakness of flesh and bone
A flaw in our species

Foolish and naive
We are all easily swayed by soft warm words and singular adoration
Dressed in hidden agendas
And always conveniently ignored
As the blood pumps through an eager heart
The stricken spirit to the heavens soar

What does one find in such a blind affection
That will drive you to your knees on a cold stone floor
Sacrifice your soul and turn logic into chaos
Still your heart without a thought
Take away breath from one who is already breathless
Until at last there is nothing left
And no more to say

It is that word I can hardly bring my lips to say
Without a sour taste in my mouth
I call it a weakness of flesh and bone
A genetic deficiency of **** sapiens
The failing of being human
A flaw in our species

A cup of Sadness
Tammy M Darby Dec 2014
I poured a cup of sadness
Stirred with angers spoon
Called to the four winds of the heaven
Bowed low the crescent moon

For sweetness sake
I happily added
A generous measure of pain
Mixed in cream pale and weak
Colored with the tears of rain

On a crystal flaming platter
Served carefully by the hand of guile
I watched the orange blue fire demons
Contented and smiling
Passed the while

So it was I spoke the curse
For what was given to me
Was returned in kind
Unending loneliness of the soul
The nightmares of a troubled mind

Some would say
My revenge was too great
Others will berate me in my death
But let it be said I showed no mercy
Only to God must I pay the debt

So have a cup of sadness
Drink until you are no more
For with intent I speak these words
Accompanied by malice and scorn.

He Hides His Face
Tammy M Darby Jul 2013
To hide his face
Camouflage violence and disgrace
Lies merged with truth
The ability to destroy
Debase
Those  closet to him

Unable to bear self
The heartless soul
What lies within
A fierce struggle will ensue
Regardless of the battle
Comes the end
Jagged mountains of mental instability
The unwinding begins
Sharp cliffs of deceit

He hides his face
To hide his face
Disguise with a smile
Fall from grace
Invented character
Takes lifes center stage
Hidden deep
For a short time sleeping
Uncontrollable rage

He hides his face
To hide his face

The Sky Wept
Tammy M Darby Feb 2014
Ash and tears
For the species man
As the infiltrating tentacles of self destruction
Unstoppable
Spread from hand to hand

The earth hid its eyes
So the moon would not see
As she whimpered and cried
For what was to be

The sea thrashed in rebellion
Displaying its hate and pain
The creatures of the ocean
Floated in with the tide
Rotting upon white sands

In protest of their demise
Called upon Neptune's strength
The poison cast on waters by evil
Man himself shall drink

When the sky wept black tears
The earth hid its eyes
The oceans roared with anger
The moon wailed and cried

Eyes closed
In this dirt hole I lay
Lips unmoving
Having nothing to say
Though now silent and cold
For the curious  sake
I leave a small clue

The unexpected wound was too deep
Unaware
I was mortally injured
Continued to bleed
Until all that remained of a once warm body
Was a white stiff corpse
Thin empty blue veins
The end

I have nothing more to say

Black Ribbons of the mind
Tammy M Darby May 2014
Swirling memories in time
Often appear though unwanted without warning
Pale masked face emotionless
Upon red lips loves bitter taste

Twisted licorice memories
Crimson ribbons of the mind
Thoughts flutter by in madness rhyme
Dancing and taunting
Desire's passionate touch
Haunting
The kiss of melancholy
Cruel sweetness

A feast of regret
Sumptuous delicacies on a mirrored plate
Lost in mist of imagination
With only a backward glance
Realty slips past quietly
Opening insanities gate
Floating on green seas of time
Until once more called
Black ribbons of the mind

Cupid came Calling
Tammy M Darby Jul 2013
Tapping on my window
A tiny Cherub
Pink face
Fluttering wings
Give me entrance human
Of love to you I sing

So I spoke
Fly on in
Rest where ever you may
I will pause my work
Though I scoff at love
Listen to what you say

Shocked
He stuttered
Love is necessary
To exist
Live
Breathe
I pity the mortal
With no love in its heart
What a sad creature you must be

Well Mr cupid
I have listened to you closely
Weighing each and every word
But it seems you have omitted
The other side of love
I will describe it in depth
So it may be heard

The giving of affection
The pain of rejection
Cuts and wounds never heal
Faith tossed aside

Hopes burnt into ashes
Smoke in the air
Lies spoken
Distrust and despair

So direct your aim
At some one else
As I tossed Cupid bow and arrow out the door
Away with your deceiving tongue
Oh false one
Cross my threshold never more

Happy Valentines Day

There is a Price
Tammy M Darby Jul 2013
For each red drop
A penalty if you will
Increased by the number of blows
Payment is demanded
From the long suffering victim
Through whose veins
Contempt  and distrust now flow

There is a word
Justice
Winged angel with flaming sword
Who seeks compensation for the injured
Retribution dressed as the faceless one
Sound the trumpets
So this may be heard

Whispered words from contemptabile lips
Memories penetrate your mind
A breath taking
Familiar haunting rhyme
As you plummet endlessly
Through the open doors of time

There is a price for each red drop
Without warning
The black heart will stop
There is always a price

I Removed the Veil
Tammy M Darby Aug 2013
I remove the veil that covers my mind
My retreat will not be heard
To the outside in the realm of society
I shall never utter another word
With complete knowledge of consequence and cost
I close the so called conscience world off

Dreaming in my own dimension
As I delightfully drift through the air
Throughout the universe
A sparkling starlight night
My imagination on wings of flight

Deeds of brave knights
Fair damsels
Invading aliens and wizard kings
Witches spirits and sprites
Breaking delicate fairy rings

This is the world I have created for myself
The one of magic troll and elf
Of all these things
In my script I will tell
This is now my reality
I removed the veil

The Smell of Death
Tammy M Darby Nov 2013
Scent of the dead
Stiff lifeless body
Through now which no blood flows
Dark red liquid once upon a time
Coursed through blue veins
Strong heartbeat steady and slow

This being was a living spirit
Warm breath
Though the heart no longer beats
In cold still breast
Prayers of a priest
Tears from the mourners
Meeting your god in eternal rest

The smell of death
Beside hallowed grave
Where now the decaying body lay
Cold as the deep
The long inevitable sleep
Covered in the smell of death

Growing ever bolder
While Insanity her sister
Places a cool hand
Upon your frail shoulder

Despair
The lady in waiting
For that which is and shall remain
The ruler of all
As sadness fell in stormy gray waves
When the heart pain called

Oh how deep the depth of the dagger
Endless the loss of love go
A secret torture of those caressed by passion
The coursing of desires flow

Is madness creeping round your mind
Growing ever bolder
While Insanity her sister
Places a cool hand
Upon your trembling  shoulder

The Darkest Hour
Tammy M Darby Sep 2014
Comes.
Mystical runes cast
The old forgotten songs sung.
I summon all my power from white fire.
It approaches stealthily;
The darkest hour.

The blackened *** will be stirred.
Words unspoken for a thousand years,
From blood less lips said.
Owls talons, lizards and toadstools,
With this potion my small vial fill.

Dragons, demons, imps and sprites,
Salute in homage  and bow down.
Ghosts appear if I so desire.
With a wave of my hands.
The contents of the glowing cauldron,
Bubbling fiercely,
Turning the future red.

And so with out announcement
Striking of twelve on the hour
What was foretold has begun
It comes;
The darkest hour.

Let me lie
On star dust covered sheets
White roses strewn around
Rest my hand near a protective heart
Where no menacing shadows abound

Allow me to inhale the incense of my lover
Across my body his mystical cover
Lay my head on calm broad chest
As the sun sets red and pink in the west

Placing my small hand in his
With my eyes I quietly plead
Unlock my red barbed chains
Catch me when I stumble and fall
Dance with me  in the pouring rain

Let me lie
On stardust covered sheets
White roses strewn around
With you forever my dearest love

See little in the breath of life
Despair and strife shadow their hearts
Cruelly and without mercy command their minds
Darkness touch is ever so blindingly sweet
The light of the living never meet
In the murmurings of a quivering night

Those who worship the God of Death
Seek no glimpses into a heart
Long ago they decreed
All love depart
Forfeiting that which made them human
Sacrificed on the altar of their cold demanding god

Those who worship the God of Death
Wander in silence and stealth
Caring not for influence, lineage or social plight
It is inconsequential
In a world where emanates no light

For them darkness touch is ever so blindingly sweet
The light of the living never meet
In the murmurings of a quivering night
When the world becomes silent and  emanates no light
Those who worship the God of Death delight.

The Banquet
Tammy M Darby Mar 2019
Late one nice warm evening
Came a very loud knock upon my door
It was a complete stranger
Tired bewildered and lost
Now imprisoned in my dark magical woods

A gracious host of course
I bowed and extended my hand and stated
Please come in, dear friend take a seat and let’s discuss pressing matters
Such as the ghost to my left or the ghoul to the right dressed in tatters

As you can plainly see I am playing poker with the 3 eyed demons of the 4th night
Who infamous cheaters like the mummies rarely ever get a second invite
The vampires are sitting in the shadows where they think no one may see
Putting visine in their red eyes
White roses in black lapels and sharpening their pointed teeth

The werewolves yellow dripping fangs
Are climbing the curtains growling
Come the rising of the round moon
The goblins little monsters stroll in nosily
Angrily demanding recognition which is rightly their due

The witches spitting and cursing their hats
Hopped clumsily off their brooms
While the strongest warlocks were locked in battle
Throwing spells across the amber walled room

They have arrived for my banquet
As all have received the coveted invitations before
When some foolish stranger like you
Unaware knocks upon my door,

Humorous Dark Poetry

Blue skies retreating began to fall
The appointment she must keep
Will cause deceitful eyes to weep
For this is just the beginning of it all

So now even the stars become lightless
Black and dying
Evil deeds sing their songs smiling
They are calling your name
The cost of participation in the game
It was your choice and yours alone to risk it all
Karma sits tapping her feet
Waiting in the hall

You are being lied to by the government about Syria the same way they lied to you about the conflict in the Ukraine. Not only is your tax dollars funding covert, illegal operations and violating Syria's sovereignty as a nation, you also are paying for refugees who are being brought here that may be terrorists. I cannot believe Americans tolerate the theft of their money to promote war and line the pockets of the evil people who profit from the blood and death of innocents during this conflicts........................

Thirty pieces of silver
Tammy M Darby Oct 2013
You were easily bought
For you Judas is the perfect part
The one you have chosen to play
Thirty pieces of silver

The money within hands reach
You must follow through
Destroy the one who loves you most
Raise your glass to your soon to be riches
Proclaim your toast
Thirty pieces of silver

Cursed silver coins tossed and cast around
To acquire these shiny gods
You must kneel down
It is fitting a snake be on the ground
That Judas you would be

Now lastly you must find a tree
The one from which
Your body shall sway quietly in the breeze
Who will hear your last breath
For an evil heart  and a love untrue
So I offer this gift
Thirty pieces of silver

Am I Insane
Tammy M Darby Sep 2013
Am I insane
Is my work in your opinoin
Interesting
Mundane
Not that your sum of me is of importance
Relaying this with no reservation
I am just making polite conversation

I often wonder if am I insane
As many of the judgemental populous claim
Certainly not
Just a bizzare poet
Full of the truth others
Lack the courage to seek
For this reason  alone
I am given full literary rein

To describe the universe
Life and death
In my sly and leading words
A kaleidscope of my thoughts
Come spilling out unhindered
I am quite helpless
The pen has a will of its own

Am I insane
As the people that warily observe me say
In comparison to their lives
A touch eccentric
A little strange
But you are the one reading this
Line after line not stopping
Now tell me who is insane

Despair's Garden
Tammy M Darby May 2014
Joy’s innocent lovely face
Kissed with wrath
By deceitful lips of sorrow
Naive heart touched by the hands of woe and greed
So began the planting of hearts seed

Frail scented blossoms
Despairs purple flowers
Fall headlong helpless
Into destinies misty tomorrows
Bitterness ever grown
In sour soil
Broken soul tears were sown
A bouquet of sadness
Melancholy’s songs
Despair’s garden

Do you See
Tammy M Darby Sep 2013
In my dark eyes do you see
The monster hidden behind words
Crouching within
Hate coursing through my blood
Revenge driving my brain
Mad with anquish
Rife with hallucination

In my eyes do you see
What I have become
A insane woman ranting
Singing deaths  song
Chanting
Dragging betrayal by hand along
As I dance the steps of the lost
It is the cost
Of my deep yearning
What I desire to be
In my eyes do you see

Loony as a Tune
Tammy M Darby Jul 2013
She spends her time scribbling away
Without stopping
Obsessed
Night and day
In a room with walls of books
People  nod and  say
With an odd look on their faces
You know
She is loony as a tune

Where does she find all these words
And why
What becomes of them
When she loosens them to fly
Who knows where they will land

Topics and memories
People care not to remember
As they look away and try to forget
While she paints their life with her pen
Much to their protests and chagrin
In a small room she writes
As they whisper in retaliation
She is loony as a tune

True perhaps lacking in finesse
Laughing at solemn occasions
When she should be crying
One day the picture of health
The next day dying
All done with the pen
Telling the truth or lying
Actress or poet
Who knows for certain
With a person they say
Is loony as a tune

Walking around in clothes
No one else dare
Aghast
People stop and stare
Unkempt wild wind blown hair
Dancing round under a full moon
In the sweet night air
Perhaps I am loony as a tune

Demon of the Mark
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
In human form
Tread lightly on the ground
Cloven hooves disguised
Attired in color of crimson
In bold yellow eyes flames danced round

Each person he encountered
Left upon them an invisible  mark
Those with unclean souls
Destined to forever dwell
In the blindness of eternal dark

When all had been counted
His brethren tallied up
Sat down in the shade
This hell's seed
On cursed blood he did sup

His task for now completed
Of which he never tired
Destiny called
He returned gladly
To rest in Satan's fires

Before opening the door of the lost
Perchance I will find the healing salve I seek
Its warmth melt the forlorn depths of my heart

Only emptiness remaining
Leaving the soul hollow and soiled
No longer the betrayer love control my emotions
Bitterness the ruler of my isolated world

So, pardon if soon I speak no more
As I ponder for a reason to live
I pause before entering the entrance way of the ghosts
And only a backward glance do I give

Gazing into the fourth dimension
Looking back, I see what was
What is
And what will be no more
Only a  backward glance do I give
Before stepping through the vanishing door

I Sleep the sleep
Tammy M Darby Oct 2013
In grounds coldness and depth
Wrapped in promises never kept
The skies coal black
Faded to gray
In a wooden coffin
My body forever lay

Resting on white satin
Loves pitiful demise
Affections coy smile
Closed my eyes

Crimson tapestry of deceit
Hearts loss of faith
Destroyed the soul
In passions fiery wake

I sleep the sleep
My quiet abode
The silent deep
Beside my soft grave
The gathering mourners weep

The Sky was Falling
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
Heaven's angels began calling
Good to the left if you please
Shunned evil to the right

Those cruel and unkind
To the suffering poor
Blind
War mongers
Spoilers of the earth
In whose heart's greed was kept
Black minds where waiting darkness
Lay coiled and slept

Satan's angel's
Cunning and foreboding
Counted condemned heads
To each other smiled and nodded

While the godly and humble
Blessed solitary souls
Bestowed with love and grace
To God's delight
Were embraced by arms of holy light

The sky was falling
Heaven and hell's angels began calling
The world turned upside down
As the night became day
The day melted into night
Humans formed two lines
The good stay on the path to the left
Evil to the the right

Oh pale dreams
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
Where shall we traverse tonight
To the cemetery of shadows
Or silky moonbeams high

To what lands mystical dreams
Shall we sojourn
On a fiery comets tail fly
To the sad lonely mountains
Or the jagged lightening filled skies

Oh secret dreams
When the moon turns red
Returning from our travels
Find my body alive or dead

Oh pale dreams

Chilled to the Bone
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
I crouched in the corner
Face turned away
Trying to pretend I was invisible
Inside my heart bled
Arms crossed protecting my head
On my lips sat words I could not say

Peering out from between my fingers
With hesitation
Hoping to calculate
The furious path
Of soon to come directed blows

Holding my breath
The onslaught of hate ceased
The body gave way to fatigue
Realizing my loving attacker
Was tainted with an emotional disease

The desire for control and *******
Violent thoughts that drove the actions
Ran through my soul
Aware suddenly I was alone
With icy marrow
Chilled to the bone

The Gray
Tammy M Darby Oct 2013
The cold gray swept across the sky
Sad winds
Encircled my heart
No warmth of love to defend me
Iciness forced my soul into the dark

The emotion of desolate loneliness
We suffered together in silence
As the gray moved through me slowly
Ever so carefully and quiet

Sweet thick fog that envelopes me
A reclusive world of frozen screams
It is my sympathetic companion
Who lives in my nightmares
My dreams

In A Witches Eye
Tammy M Darby Oct 2017
Tis a full blood moon
Shining in a witches eye
The ****** winds blow crossways
As the hour draws nigh

The ghosts rattle their wispy chains
Soulless red smiling demons scream
The night of all nights the poltergeists whisper
Haunting voices that cannot be seen

Black dressed hags riding brooms star high
Cackling cast their spells
Halt the waves of time
Those who speak no more in coffins
When commanded would rise

For it’s a full red moon
In a witch’s eye.
When the creatures of darkness
Frolic round an enchanted fire

The dance of the werewolves continued
So the cold night tells
Not a single trace will ever be found
Where those of the underworld dwell

Gaze deeply into the dancing flames
But beware, careless humans,
Of that which may be seen
When orange goblins of the blood moon
Celebrate Hallows Eve

The Demon
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
The demon took up residence within me
Sitting silent still and quiet
As my dull blank face
Stared unblinking into the long night
Waiting for that
Which would never appear

His eyes flickered green
This creature created from my darkest dreams
Brought to life by violence and tears
Lonely echoing screams

In my twisted thoughts he dwell
Upon each hour
Rang his cursed bell
Planting infectious evil
Hell's seeds
Deep into my empty heart

I called out
In my hurt and despair
Reaching for a hand that was not there
Allowing him to overtake me
Plunging head long into the endless void of hate

One must pause but a second
Before the red curtain rises
My evocative story tells
Of innocent men women and children
Who perished screaming in bullets hail?

The perpetrators were sycophants who ravaged the earth
Slaughtering with cunning and stealth
Eliminating any who offered even the smallest resistance
For black liquid and gleaming metals

Openly touted
Their agenda was not hidden
None with valor impede their path
Fat and satisfied
The cowards dropped their dull heads
Rather than face the barbarians wrath

So continued was their brutish destruction
Though guilt their small conscience assail
Alas I disagree with Tolkien
The Courage of men has failed

I live a poet’s life in an anonymous plane
Unseen by those considered normal,
Unheard by those deemed sane.
The only proof of my existence
Dangerous knives of poetry in lines on paper
An alias moves the pen in my hand
That scribbles stinging, bitter words
About love, death and the atrocities of man

I am anonymous
Even my name is not my own
My thoughts are scrawled wickedly with intent on paper
For the masses to observe
At a distance my carnivorous demanding audience must remain
From physical contact with these dull creatures
I gladly refrain
Retreating behind a mask of stone
Beneath it a face that bears lines of great sadness
A frozen sculpture of a heart for many years entombed

So it is and shall always be
Truly my words are all you will ever see
Closing off the door to reality
With the stroke of a pen
To my invisible life I hastily return
I am anonymous

I am Lost
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
In long velvet sighing hallways
With no shining beckoning light
No path guiding me forward
Nor any awaits me behind
My eyes shuttered windows
To life I am completely blind

I am stone deaf
To the sounds of angels
Having no ear for love and hope
Round my soul tightening
A strong knotted rope
I stand on the edge
Looking down in hesitation
Contemplating the jump

I cannot vocalize the sadness
That is devouring me
A lovers truth painted with pretty lies
My lips refusing to speak the words
My heart
An emptying hourglass
Seeping pain slowly dies

I am lost
In dark velvet sighing hallways
With no one to hear my echoing cries
