Yellow Broken Rays
Tammy M Darby Feb 2014
The moon shone in the window
Yellow broken rays
I turned towards you
Wrapped my arm around your waist
With trembling hand
Traced the lines on angular face
Curious
Where does your mind journey
When the God of slumber you embrace

Listening to your breath
Inhaled in
Breathed out with ease
Salty winds off the ocean
Mixed with sounds of rustling trees
Content with the fact
I know who you are
Without ever having met

Then I touched your lips to mine
The universe stopped
Halted time
A smile played about your mouth
Aware of my closeness
Opened your eyes

When the moon shown through the window
Broken yellow rays
I turned and wrapped my arm around your waist

This is a soul paying a visit to a man she fell in love with but had never met in person. They had only exchanged words of unspoken passion

Am I truly what you see
Tammy M Darby Feb 2014
Or just just an image
Of what you wish me to be
For I have many flaws
Being a mere human

Composed I am of many traits
Describing them as good and bad
My world at times consists of sunshine and sweet breezes
Others days heartache and sad

Could you love someone
Eccentric
Plain
No longer interactive
Afraid of the game
Having never truly won
Despite best efforts

Am I a figment of your dreams
Truly everything I seem
Just a tiny sparkle in your eye
As life goes floating by

Am I truly what you see
Or just an image
Of what you desire me to be
For I have many flaws
Being human

Star Dust Covered Sheets
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
Let me lie
On star dust covered sheets
White roses strewn around
Rest my hand near a protective heart
Where no menacing shadows abound

Allow me to inhale the incense of my lover
Across my body his mystical cover
Lay my head on calm broad chest
As the sun sets red and pink in the west

Placing my small hand in his
With my eyes I quietly plead
Unlock my red barbed chains
Catch me when I stumble and fall
Dance with me  in the pouring rain

Let me lie
On stardust covered sheets
White roses strewn around
With you forever my dearest love
Until the death of time

The Crow
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
Sat on the white metal gate
For the wicked soul
He sang and wait

In and out the opening
The body did run
Unaware
Death had come

Till one day
The bird screeched no more
The man lay on the ground
Chest bloodied and torn

Clutched to feathered *****
Black purple arrayed
Held fast in long sharp claws
A cooling evil heart stayed
Screaming flew away into the sky
That turned from sea blue into a ghostly gray

Demon of the Mark
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
In human form
Tread lightly on the ground
Cloven hooves disguised
Attired in color of crimson
In bold yellow eyes flames danced round

Each person he encountered
Left upon them an invisible  mark
Those with unclean souls
Destined to forever dwell
In the blindness of eternal dark

When all had been counted
His brethren tallied up
Sat down in the shade
This hell's seed
On cursed blood he did sup

His task for now completed
Of which he never tired
Destiny called
He returned gladly
To rest in Satan's fires

If you Loved me
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
With waiting arms
Catch me if I fell
Down the tunnel of past my soul plunge
Into depression's cold deep well

Dry the tears
That lay on my cheeks
Caress my lips ever lightly
Offer a lovers embrace

Calm me
With tender words
When life becomes too much to bear
Tiny stitches sew with kindness
To mend my poor hearts tear

Place your hand in mine
Affection's gift without cost
Brave the dungeon of dark shadows
Should I stumble and become lost

Cast a net of sparkling stars
Across me as I sleep
Guard me from monsters of sadness
If in my slumber weep

If you loved me

Desire
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
The battle ensued
Between combatants heart and mind
As loneliness whispered softly
Of tenderness
In cooing song and rhyme

The brain issued a stern warning
Of heartache and the ache of sorrow
The turmoil of the soul
And the price
The wrath of storms coming

Love ignored words of caution
With little thought of consequence
Forging fearlessly and foolishly ahead
Igniting a small spark
Accompanied smoke trails in the night
Long ago thought dead

Glowing orange blue flickering embers
Soon a smoldering burning fire
Did awaken from memories long sleep
The emotion
Desire

The Sky was Falling
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
Heaven's angels began calling
Good to the left if you please
Shunned evil to the right

Those cruel and unkind
To the suffering poor
Blind
War mongers
Spoilers of the earth
In whose heart's greed was kept
Black minds where waiting darkness
Lay coiled and slept

Satan's angel's
Cunning and foreboding
Counted condemned heads
To each other smiled and nodded

While the godly and humble
Blessed solitary souls
Bestowed with love and grace
To God's delight
Were embraced by arms of holy light

The sky was falling
Heaven and hell's angels began calling
The world turned upside down
As the night became day
The day melted into night
Humans formed two lines
The good stay on the path to the left
Evil to the the right

On Bitter Covers Lay
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
Evil words were spoken
On bitter covers lay
Praying to him who all kneel before
Most holy
To cleanse sins away

Regrets of choices made
In the early dew of youth
Stand before the judge of the universe
Stripped of earthly body
Remains the glaring truth

Forced to recline on bitter covers
In anxiety and fear until the creator call
Beaming with arrogance
Reflections of heavens gates in pious eyes
To hell the black soul did fall

I am Lost
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
In long velvet sighing hallways
With no shining beckoning light
No path guiding me forward
Nor any awaits me behind
My eyes shuttered windows
To life I am completely blind

I am stone deaf
To the sounds of angels
Having no ear for love and hope
Round my soul tightening
A strong knotted rope
I stand on the edge
Looking down in hesitation
Contemplating the jump

I cannot vocalize the sadness
That is devouring me
A lovers truth painted with pretty lies
My lips refusing to speak the words
My heart
An emptying hourglass
Seeping pain slowly dies

I am lost
In dark velvet sighing hallways
With no one to hear my echoing cries

Africa
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
Across the Serengeti
The fierce maned lions roared
Lands of the dark continent will soon be no more
The tusked grey elephants roaming few in number
Will exist only in legend and lore

The ancient rich soil
Ripped apart and torn
Thick oil
Poison shiny and deadly
Washes up on pristine white shores

Black deep tunnels
Punctured and violated the ground
For the shiny chunks of yellow gold desired by man
The glittering priceless diamond  stones

People unwillingly forced from their lands
By many foreign companies insatiable greed
Are growing with anger and resentment
The beginning of revolutions seed

Cleanse the evil infiltrating  your country
If need be charge them with high crimes
Allowing Africa to retain its stately beauty
It has possessed since the beginning of time

When the Moon turned Red
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
Evening slipped into the long abyss
So fell the red moon
Malicious shadows forecasting doom
For the cursed animal man
Inhabiting the precious earth

Fearsome rolling rivers ran dry
Black smoke filled the spanning azure skies
The churning murky green oceans gave up the bones of their dead
When the moon turned red

The crust of the hard ground shook
Split and burst into deep fiery crevasses
Dark yellow orange smoldering nooks
Swallowing all of life
So obliterated was mans world as we know it
Destroyed
Barron and dead
When the moon turned red

Trying to hide my tears
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
In my dreams
I struggle to breathe
God have pity
I can find no relief

Shaking and trembling
At another's touch
Images of your hands
Around my throat clutch

Rarely now do I sleep  through the night
All the blows rain down upon me
From left and right

Why is it
I cannot rid myself of these fears
Maintaining my hidden life
Trying to hide my tears

Each breath I take
Is full of sadness
Seeking an escape
From your violent madness

Break it into Verse
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
Honor bound
I will be the first
Expose who you are
Break it into verse
Written clearly
For all to see
Inked and printed
Laid at your feet

Shiny reflection
Looking glass
The words
Peer into your future
Present and past

Given my word
To an angry ghost
Reveal your miserable life
Break it into verse

Damaged child
Love mingled with hate
A disfuntional family
The heart could not keep pace

A handsome young man
Easily deceived
Wore your heart so tender
Visible on your sleeve

An old man emerged now
Bitter violent and sour
Worried only about the hearse
Deaths coming hour

So I have compiled these events
I am the first
To tell your story
Verse by verse

The flower wilts
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
On dying fragile stem
Fading beauty
Flawed gem
Loves abates slowly
From heart and mind
Emotions become faint and distant
Passing through shadows of time

Delicate petals drop
One by one
Falling silent without sound
Sweet scent disappearing
Not a trace
Until all that was once living
Lies dead rotting on the ground

Who among us
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
Has not loved
With undying passion
Out of control reactions
Unknown gnawing need
A solitary souls greed

Show me the human
That would reject without consideration
Unfaltering love
Complete adoration
Incomparable sensual sensation

If there be one to speak and disagree
It is a false tongue lying
A shattered heart dying
From lack of a caring smile

Who among us says this
With foolishness insist
They posses a unique immunity to these emotions
Who among us

The Demon
Tammy M Darby Jan 2014
The demon took up residence within me
Sitting silent still and quiet
As my dull blank face
Stared unblinking into the long night
Waiting for that
Which would never appear

His eyes flickered green
This creature created from my darkest dreams
Brought to life by violence and tears
Lonely echoing screams

In my twisted thoughts he dwell
Upon each hour
Rang his cursed bell
Planting infectious evil
Hell's seeds
Deep into my empty heart

I called out
In my hurt and despair
Reaching for a hand that was not there
Allowing him to overtake me
Plunging head long into the endless void of hate

The Knight
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
From what glorious kingdom
Will my armored warrior hail
That for my small hand
On slathered horse
Journey roads of heaven and hell

Riding stone covered ground
Of long black waiting shadows
To return to my lost soul
Stolen waiting tomorrows

On the quest to my heart
Slay the crimson dragon pain
His jeweled reward but one
Eternal love to gain

Written when my thoughts are not tainted with Poe

Blue Rain
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
A pill for my nerves in the morning
To stifle my broken hearts yearning
A pill to get me through my day
Allowing my mind to somewhat maintain
At night a pill to sleep
So into my soft pillow
I do not weep

A  little pill so I cannot feel
Then another
To wash away the pain
I cannot imagine
My life without a pill
To color the world rosy
As I stand in blue rain

So I reach in the bottle for another
Hiding the person I am
With reality
I no longer bother
As someone emerges I do not know
That lives my life in times ebb and flow
I coexist as one and the other

Its a pill for me in the morning
To stifle my broken hearts yearning
A pill to maintain my twisted sanity
And get me through the day
While I bathe in the enveloping deluge
Of the soothing blue rain

I think all poets have dual personalities. The one they keep hidden and the person they share with the world.

Just to see what it was like
The smell of brimstone and smoke
Torture and mayhem
Burning heads impaled upon flaming spikes

I shook hands with the evil one
Of course, horned and dressed in red
Welcome friend mi casa es su casa
But absolutely no communing with the dead

I said I was just looking around
Put to rest any fears
With my good and pure lily white life
I shall never end up here

Many years later
Staring down at my coffin
At my funeral where was shed many tears
It seemed only seconds had passed
****
And there I was
Back in hell again

I looked around at the fires
And asked Satan fearfully
Tell me Beelzebub
What am I doing here?
Your name is on my parchment silly fool
And I have waited many years

A watery grave
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
Sinking
Into roaring cream capped waves
Though many will try with out stretched hands
I cannot be saved

Swallowed up without a struggle
By green oceans deep
As the mermaids watch my slow descent
They begin to softly weep

I am falling into oblivion
A still watery grave
Onto the soft sand bottom
Where the beautiful lady fish play

Never more
Shall my flesh be seen
Just worn bones bleached white
At the bottom of the sea

Loneliness
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
I perceive no beauty
In the rising of the sun
No peace in caressing sweet breezes
Being only one

The colors of my world
Simply described
Are muted black and gray
Upon my weak frail shoulders
The mantle of loneliness lay

My ears no longer recognize
Lovely odd melodies
Of singing evening birds
Silent
Motionless
I utter not a word

The  twisting worn paths I travel
All eventually seem to be the same
There are no longer any blue skies
Only cold dark daggers of rain

Chilled to the Bone
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
I crouched in the corner
Face turned away
Trying to pretend I was invisible
Inside my heart bled
Arms crossed protecting my head
On my lips sat words I could not say

Peering out from between my fingers
With hesitation
Hoping to calculate
The furious path
Of soon to come directed blows

Holding my breath
The onslaught of hate ceased
The body gave way to fatigue
Realizing my loving attacker
Was tainted with an emotional disease

The desire for control and *******
Violent thoughts that drove the actions
Ran through my soul
Aware suddenly I was alone
With icy marrow
Chilled to the bone

Life
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
Its an insane wild ride
Leaping off dark churning thunder clouds
Into cool aqua oceans
Floating in with the salty littered tide

Plunging from steep mountains
Tall and jagged
Falling to below
Helpless
Into the valley's of shiny razor covered pain

Emerging ever stronger
More determined
With confidence
Close your eyes and smile
Foolishly jump again

Ripples of cries in the darkness
In the long sighing night
No earthly bound beings hear
Fear and disappointment ever present
Camouflaged discreetly
Tucked away in your crisp white sleeve

Energy moving through your body
The thrill of winds from head to toe
Satisfied with all around you
Wanting nothing the wide universe has to offer
Happiness perhaps some would say

Its an insane wild ride
Life
Fine unpredictable lady
Has many unknown sides
Leaping off dark churning thunder clouds
Diving into clear ice blue oceans
Floating in with the salty littered tide

Oh pale dreams
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
Where shall we traverse tonight
To the cemetery of shadows
Or silky moonbeams high

To what lands mystical dreams
Shall we sojourn
On a fiery comets tail fly
To the sad lonely mountains
Or the jagged lightening filled skies

Oh secret dreams
When the moon turns red
Returning from our travels
Find my body alive or dead

Oh pale dreams

Scream Chaos
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
Charge in bravely
Release the components of intent
Seek justice long in coming
Press steadily forward
Refusing to relent
Contumacious in action and thought
Until the last drop of courage is spent

Demand respect from enemies
If given with honor
Return in kind the same
But by no means or reason
Ever concede the game

Instead
Cry Chaos
Inflict stinging blows
Focused
This strange power you now posses
Take hold
Scream chaos in defiance
Unsheath your sword

(This is the result of reading Shakespeare)
My new word for the day   Contumacious    (rebellious or defiant in nature)

The Love of my heart
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
His kisses were that of a fine wine
The words he spoke
Washed away the pain of time
With nimble fingers mended the tear
That no one else realized was there

A glance from his eyes
Chased away my deepest fears
Gentle touch dried my flow of tears

His body rested
Peacefully next to mine
No one would part us
Heart and soul intertwined

Contented and peaceful
I was from the start
He is all that I require
The love of my heart

(Written for my love)

Demons
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
Hell's demons are everywhere
If I could only convince you to see
Drinking gin and tonic with style
Sipping haughtily on lemon and tea

Their distorted evil frightening faces
Are masked from human sight
As they pass you with indifference
Grinning and nodding
Moving left to right

However
Without warning
As their vicious appetites call
Growing hungry for souls
In the silence of the night
They gobble up foolish sinners they encounter
That disappear forever from sight

So the next time you have the desire to dine in the  evening
Take a  moment or a second or two
Remember faces are not all they seem
A demon may be sipping a martini,
While smiling and sitting right next to you

My Heart
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
Is becoming cold
My mind no longer desiring life
Dying
Grows old
Distant north winds with their power blow
Freezing gales of turmoil
Screaming gusts of pain

The throbbing ***** now beats slow
Recognizing the words of love no more
The falseness of a smile
Tainted with guile and deceit
The death of a gentle soul
Hard and frozen
My dead heart no longer beats

I have nothing to say
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
Eyes closed
In this dirt hole I lay
Lips unmoving
Having nothing to say
Though now silent and cold
For the curious  sake
I leave a small clue

The unexpected wound was too deep
Unaware
I was mortally injured
Continued to bleed
Until all that remained of a once warm body
Was a white stiff corpse
Thin empty blue veins
The end

I have nothing more to say

I push the buttons
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
Pausing for a reaction
A hateful acknowledgement of my actions
Jangling your nerves
For each and every infraction

I push the buttons
To a dangerous ledge
Forcing you closer and closer
To the cliff's edge
Happily for filling to my death a pledge

I push the buttons
Comes a loving embrace
Then retrieve from my memory
Thoughts better erased
The time in my life
Sequence of events
They gave way to my now favorite pastime

I push the buttons
A puppet helpless you will dance
Never again allowed the chance
To have a life without the shadow of a cloud

Forever
Prodding and poking
I shall never cease
The humming of my plastic keys
Enlightening those
Who cannot believe
What lies on the other side
There will be no peace
My appetite  for revenge will never be filled
So I push the buttons

Sounds of the Night
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
The noise beyond the roaring city bustle
The cars
Harsh blaring horns
Frogs croaking in a pond
The whippoorwill its sad call
Solitary
Quite forlorn

Crickets talking in a  secret rhythmic language
Bats fluttering eyes shining
Left to right
Snakes wiggle across cold ground
Wildcats scream calling
Into a eerie starlight sky

Silver speckled fish leap out of the water
Splashing
Continuous  ripples
For the winged bug in flight
Armadillos root for their food
Having sufficient but limited sight
The owl swoops into predatory dive
In its sharp claws his meal clutched tight
These are creatures of the darkness
The unique musical sounds of the night

Floundering
Defeated
Upon me the mark of fate
God forgive me for being weak
I cannot bear the weight

Wishing to avoid the battle
To fight the brave fight
Have mercy release my soul
Allow me to seek the light

Do not be hurt or angry
Should no words fall from my lip’s
Leaving my reasons unsaid
Deciding life is too much of a struggle
I chose my coffin instead

Do not wait
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
Do not wait for a call
That will never come
There will be no ringing
Or songs of love by angels sung

Dont destroy your self
For one whose affection is cruel
Avoid allowing your soul to be lost
In a hole of regret and red raindrops
Heavy and terrible is the cost

Never give your all
Or there will be nothing left
No shining tomorrows
Only despair and sorrow
An empty dial tone
Do not wait

I want a love
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
That places me above
All others in their life
No matter the circumstances
Abode
Or strife

A promise
Never to hurt me
Or cruelly desert me
A bond
Lovers soft words
Forever
I will be the sunrise
In adoring loving eyes

I want a love
That will kiss my lips
Firmly demand
Insist
I will only belong to them

I want a love
That will treat my heart tender
Always remember
I would be loyal until my death
To them only
Never leave me sick and lonely

I want a love
That will not degrade me
Force me to relinquish
That what I hold most dear
Can you tell me
Does this exist

I want a love

I need a new heart
Tammy M Darby Dec 2013
I have decided
I need a new heart
For the one in this body
Is falling apart
All these cuts and holes
Are just a bit too much
Where once the blood ran red
It now flows black

So if you please
I need a new heart
The contemporary model
Composed of plastic parts

Cold and unfeeling
To the **** sapiens plight
Having no human emotions
Fresh off the assembly line
I need a new heart

He Comes to me
Tammy M Darby Nov 2013
Deep in the dreams of night
As I lay sleeping helpless in cursed bed
Hands claw at my throat
Blue demon eyes stare into mine
Down my face run the color red

He comes to me
In the hours of the day
Alone I suffer his madness
Through out my life
His presence a living fear
Long blade
Poison tipped knife

He comes in shadows form
Bearing me harm
I call to the heavens and kneel
Into his heart
The light plunged sacred sword
Throughout his body spread death's chill

Roll the Dice
Tammy M Darby Nov 2013
I spun the wheel
Rolled the dice
Lay down the cards
Clicked my heels together twice
And I lost
This time
But it is not always so

Life is a gamble
A complicated game
Of twisted roads
Unknown faces
It is a dangerous risk that must be taken

Bet your money
Bet your life
Bet your love
Roll the dice
Shuffle the deck
Play the hand you are dealt

Up the Ante
Poker faced bluff
Hold them
Fold them
Take the ***
Sometimes you win
Sometimes you will lose
The choice to keep on playing
Is  always up to you
But if you posses the courage
Roll the dice

Santa likes coffee and pie
Tammy M Darby Nov 2013
I awoke late the eve of Christmas
To the sound of strange tinkling bells
Half sleep looked out my window
There parked was a reindeer and sled

I get out of bed and to myself said
Something here is not right
Went into the living room shaking my head
There on my couch sat a white bearded man
Red suit
Cup of fresh coffee in hand

Still in shock I said
Hey you must be Santa Claus
But what are you doing here eating pie
Shouldn't you be delivering presents to good boys and girls
With reindeer pulling you through the skies

He said my son
I am famished and all done
Your house was my last stop
So I took a short rest and caught my breath
Please pardon me if I helped myself

Again he spoke and said
I do love cookies and milk
But there are times I like something warm
Its a very long cold trip you know
To the North pole and my home

I thank you for your hospitality
For the wonderful coffee and pie
Leaving a bag of packages under the tree
****
He was gone in the blink of an eye

Thinking to myself
No one will believe this
They will say
It is all a lie
That I awoke late one Christmas eve
To Santa resting on my couch
Having coffee and a slice of pie

Maintain your distance
With a push and a shove
If you venture too close
Your world will disappear in smoke
Into the darkness
Where life is a blur

You must never love a person too much
Lest controlling hands
Around your delicate heart clutch
Constricting the blood
Pain overcomes you in a flood
Affection fleeing in a manic rush

You must never love a person too much
If this life you wish to survive
Study well the face
Find the truth in their eyes
Do not let love grow
Beyond what you can control
Never love a person too much

The Dark Prayer
Tammy M Darby Nov 2013
Toil and weariness
Invite you to sleep
Into your dreams
Come the hate you reap

The weak ones that could not defend themselves
Upon whom your touch
Drew blood and pain
The dark headed young one heart broken in two
Now dead and silent lay

So if you die
Before you wake
Your evil soul
I  shall surely take

Your judges were victims
Hearts that bled
Those whose lives you covered with tears
The sentence was passed without consideration of pity
To hell's caves for a thousand years

I am in Love
Tammy M Darby Nov 2013
I am in love with the forest
Tree covered mountain tops
Sun's golden rays
Across flowered valleys
A living painting that bade the breath stop

I am in love with the sounds
Of brightly colored morning birds
Singing their songs with shiny eyes
Their sweet melodious tunes
Wake me from my sleep
As they dance brightly plumed into blue skies

I am in love with all manner of woods life
A worshiper of Mother Earth
When I die forego the prayers of man
Into her protective arms my berth

Talk of love
As though they know it
Sitting in their little rooms
Feeding off others
Pain and gloom

Heart shaped pens
In their trembling hands
Writing from experience
About the treachery of man

Songs sung loud
Sad and clear
Love abandoned
Loves tears

Poems of despair
Hurt and woe
Hiding from the world
What do they know?

You are the Harp
Tammy M Darby Nov 2013
The emotions of a human
Can be lightly
Played and strummed
It can resemble the steady beat of a heart
The sound cannot be replicated
Repeated or duplicated
Once the disturbing melody starts

The highest strings
Penetrates the mind
Representing the sadness and anxiety
For now you are quite alone
The shrillness will increase in strength
But will remain dark in tone

The lower strings
They are the loss of hope
Relaying disillusion
These strings are taut
Specifically for you
In my composition
I will most certainly use them

To complete my vengeful melodies
The strands I pluck and choose
Shall be your life's situation
For you, my sly one are the harp
And I am the musician

I strum the strings one by one
In a familiar rhythm, you know
I am smiling at your rapid demise
As your heart implodes silently and slow

I will continue to play you
Throughout your life
My tunes filled with retribution
Have no doubt
We both know it is true
You are the harp
And I am the musician

The strange and eerie song I play
Notes chose for their intent
For all the damage you have caused my dear
The strings I choose will represent

Now I perform this song
For your blackened soul
Upon which there will be many lesions
Till the echoes of this music
Shall drive you into madness
For you are the harp my darling
I am the musician

The Smell of Death
Tammy M Darby Nov 2013
Scent of the dead
Stiff lifeless body
Through now which no blood flows
Dark red liquid once upon a time
Coursed through blue veins
Strong heartbeat steady and slow

This being was a living spirit
Warm breath
Though the heart no longer beats
In cold still breast
Prayers of a priest
Tears from the mourners
Meeting your god in eternal rest

The smell of death
Beside hallowed grave
Where now the decaying body lay
Cold as the deep
The long inevitable sleep
Covered in the smell of death

Destinies Hand
Tammy M Darby Nov 2013
He who would break an oath
With an innocent face to the dying
Will suffer the same fate
Spit upon and forgotten
In cursed ground lying

Those who inflict pain with pleasure
So too will be their life
Falling high to low
Snared by evil deeds
In a net of burning lies

Destinies hand will rest firmly
Upon the wicked shoulder
So in the pits of hell forever more
Will this lost soul smolder

The soul begged for another chance
Destiny answered
There will be no consideration
Turning her face away
No mercy or pity offered
For the cries of desperation

Dreams
Tammy M Darby Nov 2013
Infiltrate the night
Invade peaceful slumber
Distorting thoughts
Inducing flight

Though no blood is shed
You will perish in your head
Waking to find
In panicked breath
Its completely surreal

Dreams twine round your heart
Blood pounding fiercely
Waking with a start
Leaving you in a lustful sweat
Without warning suddenly depart

Dreams of snakes
In terror your body quivers and shakes
Screams that no one can hear
The ability to instill fancy or fear
Such is the power of dreams

The Triggers Fire
Tammy M Darby Nov 2013
I am trapped in a mire of reality
That was my past
One of submission and pain
I struggle endlessly to forget
The feel of hard fists
As they rattle my head
The taste of salty blood on my lips
The world fading in and out goes black

The triggers fire
In a pillow muffle my cries
Pulling a blanket over swollen eyes
Thinking like a child I could hide
From the face that haunts every minute of my life
As the beating plays in slow motion
Over and over again
I am powerless to stop it

The triggers fire
My situation turns dire
I fight for my breath
As rough hands close around my neck
The memories of red pain dripping
Ring through my mind
Like the bells for the dead
When the triggers fire

The triggers in my poem represent sounds, sights or thought that cause me to remember certain events in my life I try to forget but it seems easier sometimes to write them out  and even then I do not know if they will truly ever disappear

Winds of Sin
Tammy M Darby Nov 2013
Its putrid smell
Your secrets deep
To all will tell

Thick sweet scent
Composed of evil and blood
The winds blew seeking its victim
Comes the faceless demon on a fiery horse

Twisting black breezes
Race at a madman's pace
Cast monstrous shadows across the sky
Revealing the answer to questioning eyes
The soul was swallowed by its own lies
