i saw you at the park
and thought you looked divine.
i wished that i could meet you
and make your people mine.

the darkness of your clothes
made me realize who i am
and thinking of the past
made me realize i am ******.

i tried to catch up when you didn't answer when i called.
i swam the ****** rivers, until the pills made me cold.

you refused when i tried to touch you...
you walked away when i got close...
i chased you with a knife,
and you liked the overdose!

catching you is not easy,
i have ran until i cried
but stopping isn't something,
i'll try until i die.

Don't look.
The world's about to break.

Don't look.
The world's about to chuck out all its light
and stuff us in the chokepit of its dark,
That black and fat suffocated place
Where we will **** or die or dance or weep
Or scream of whine or squeak like mice
To renegotiate our starting price.

Dear Morning,

Please believe me, I know you're still shining...but it's me - I just can't see how I used to see at all. When I wake, the darkness holds me. He wraps his hands around my waist. He pulls me in. I shake but I know I cannot escape.

Just hold me closer
I will obey
My body dies but I'm awake
Forced to carry on
It's my mistake

I know you will leave me, my love; you will break me, I know, you will never love me like you've loved before.

Just hold me closer
I will obey
My heart will die while I'm awake
Forced to carry on
It's my mistake

Drifting like a leaf upon the water,
Wondering just where?
did things go wrong.
My love for you was deep
You never bothered,
Space and distance took our happy home.

Traveling was our way of life together,
Til our little children came along.
Thought our love would last
NOW and FOREVER,
She has U
I have
this
LONELY POEM.

Stopping by to tell the kids you love them,
Another woman sitting by yourside.
I tried so hard
my
Darlin'
not to show it!
These teardrops falling from
these
LONELY EYES.

I am selfish.
I am stubborn.
I am rude
I am lazy.

I am obsessed with instant gratification at any cost.
I am interested solely in serving my own needs.

I am manipulative.
I am *****.
I am broken.
I am used and discarded.
I use and discard.

I pretend to care about people when it is convenient for me.
I am garbage.
I am a home to all things bad.
I am nervous
         anxious
         shaking all the timeIamsoangry.
I am destroying my brain, my body.
My soul has long been dead.
I am blackness given form.
I walk the earth to cause destruction.
I am nothing good.

Charles Bukowski
poetry readings have to be some of the saddest
****** things ever,
the gathering of the clansmen and clanladies,
week after week, month after month, year
after year,
getting old together,
reading on to tiny gatherings,
still hoping their genius will be
discovered,
making tapes together, discs together,
sweating for applause
they read basically to and for
each other,
they can't find a New York publisher
or one
within miles,
but they read on and on
in the poetry holes of America,
never daunted,
never considering the possibility that
their talent might be
thin, almost invisible,
they read on and on
before their mothers, their sisters, their husbands,
their wives, their friends, the other poets
and the handful of idiots who have wandered
in
from nowhere.
I am ashamed for them,
I am ashamed that they have to bolster each other,
I am ashamed for their lisping egos,
their lack of guts.
if these are our creators,
please, please give me something else:
a drunken plumber at a bowling alley,
a prelim boy in a four rounder,
a **** guiding his horse through along the
rail,
a bartender on last call,
a waitress pouring me a coffee,
a drunk sleeping in a deserted doorway,
a dog munching a dry bone,
an elephant's **** in a circus tent,
a 6 p.m. freeway crush,
the mailman telling a ***** joke
anything
anything
but
these.
