Unmotivated
to go out
so...
It's curried fried eggs
tonight!
Poemasabi Dec 2012
Unraked leaves
no longer dry and skittish
no longer danced free by wind
sit
damp
cold
in limp piles
edges quivering in the evening breeze
reaching
longing to escape
decay
Poemasabi Jan 2013
It is hard
to forget
to not hurt
when I see your picture
your words on screen
so it's pain for me
as you remain unseen
Poemasabi Feb 2013
Who is the more powerful?
The vengeful god
who delivers pain
and loss
and suffering?
Or those on whom
the pain and loss and suffering
are heaped upon
whose blind faith,
often pushed beyond any reasonable limit,
is the only thing
that keeps the god
alive?
Poemasabi Jun 2013
"plop" and tiny rings tell of a startled frog, small pond plants at wave's whim
Poemasabi Feb 2013
Weary snow banks are pixilated by drops of rain on my window.
Poemasabi Jun 2013
Does a creek rock know
that it has been transported
from there to a distant here
then covered with paint
stationed to guard garden mulch
lest it escape to the lawn?
Poemasabi Aug 2012
How many forms of
Haiku are there?
First I learned syllables, now what?
Poemasabi Dec 2012
In the wake of an act
More evil than one could imagine prior to its being done
Who more represents evil?

The perpetrator certainly.

Or is the people who profess love
Of god
Of country
Of children

Little
Innocent
Children

Who refuse to talk
Or even threaten revolt
and more violence

Rather than discuss
possible ways
to reduce the chances of this
of Newtown
ever happening

again

***** was discovered in Poland
or so I am told
They were trying to distill kerosene
from potatoes

If that's true then
Who was the first Pole
To say
I wonder if you can drink it?

He or she should be a saint.
Poemasabi May 2013
Tiny visitor on my window
Unseen as both you come and go
But noticed just the same
Been singing since you came
How long your song will last I do not know

Summer's lake now solid and cold
June's leaves now old and dry
As gray streams pass through frigid sky
Birds should fly for tropics
here in wind hold tight to their sticks
but birdy's trick can pay
with sun on wing that first spring day

Winter's end foretold
by two peculiar items
Woodchuck and Football
Poemasabi Mar 2017
Winter stays day after day
still as cold
and as damp
as in days long past
warmth will come
blue skies too
Spring
Playing with a 7-3-3-5-3-3-1 form
Poemasabi Feb 2013
Winter wind doesn't care
and freezes skin that's left bare
Poemasabi Sep 2013
Is it best
for your thoughts to become words
but pass from heart to mouth
instead of head to mouth
where the path runs
through brambled dark places
strung with webs
sticky from the pitch
of trepidation and uncertainty
Poemasabi Mar 2013
Daffodil sprouts say spring, yet the weatherman says not
Poemasabi Feb 2017
There is nothing else I see
more tolerant than you of me
we've had our ups
we've had our downs
and I
the silliest of clowns
could spend a lifetime
trying to
think of something else to do
but fact is fact
and this is sweet
and means more than a Donald tweet
the fact is this
you know it's true
there's no one best for me
than you
A Valentine's poem for my wife of 23 years.

Oh you can try.
You can be conversational
matter of fact
learned
and
unemotional
about the subject

But I do know the why
the reason
the motivation
behind your attempt at marginalization
of what was accomplished
by those who worked together
to create something magical
and succeeded beyond all expectations
surpassing your project
but in your mind only

Those who worked so hard together
don't hang in anticipation of your praise
So they'll be fine
and proud of what they achieved

So, want to know a secret?
The others in the room
listening to you
know what you're doing too
and
in the end
you don't come off learned
to anyone at all

But appear as just a sad little jealous man.

Sometimes
When I need to read a long poem
I find I don't have the patience.
So I don't.
You're welcome.
