Cherry blossoms joy

Sammy bought himself a cheap car,
Then found he couldn’t go too far,
Its gas tank was too small,
Its engine seemed to stall,
Now he’s getting drunk in the bar.

Even as an innocent child,
I had always liked to believe,
That the jolly fat man in red,
Will fly across with gifts to give,
Making many hopeful children
Very happy on Christmas Eve;

For on this holy festive night,
Santa is real and not a lie,
So children all over the world,
Will excitedly watch the sky,
Hoping to see if Santa Claus
With his reindeer are passing by;

It's not really such a big deal,
Even if it's a fairy tale,
Adults also need something too,
For happiness is often frail,
Santa will always bring a smile,
Like greeting cards in Christmas mail.

And children everywhere
Will be watching the sky,
To see if Santa Claus
And reindeer will pass by;

But it's not a big deal

Adults need something too
when happiness is frail,
And Santa brings a smile
Like Christmas cards in mail.

I will always remember,
As long as my mind is well,
To save things soft and tender,
Joyful stories I can tell.

I will learn to leave behind,
Unpleasantries to forget,
To delete them from my mind,
Tales of sadness and regret.

Sea is blue and calm
Much fun to frolic and swim
Waves are behaving

It waited alone on damp sand,
For the tide, to rejoin its band,
Hidden safely inside its cone,
A shellfish stranded on its own.

It had no door that I could see,
It was always open to be
Ready to crawl out to take flight,
From anything that gave it fright.

I thought I’d check if I could hear,
While holding it close to my ear,
The sound of waves some people say,
Are locked inside all night and day.

And yes, inside I know not where,
The wind and waves were surely there,
So it really is very true,
Within you hear the ocean blue!

Sea shells washed ashore,
Hermit *****, shellfish, starfish,
Typical seaside.

Shaun Yee Jun 2024
Let’s take a stroll along the seaside,
And leave our footprints in the sand,
Watch the beauty of the setting sun,
In the distance where the sea does end

We can enjoy the screeching seagulls,
Winging swiftly in the evening sky,
Let’s stroll along the lovely seaside,
Lightly holding hands - just you and I

My friends are Seconds, we are sixty in all,
Moving slightly fast, we are precise though small,
Ticking away steadily without a stop,
We do not run or jump or skip or hop;

And when the sixty seconds have been done,
I take over and continue the run,
I am Minute and have fifty nine friends too,
We are also precise and don’t stick like glue;

Then when their sixty minutes have gone past,
I take over, I am Hour and the last;
We all work in harmony in perfect rhyme,
Seconds, Minutes and Hours are our time.

Everyone has secrets to hide,
Their real feelings they dare not show,
Which often lead to misunderstandings,
And sometimes a deadly blow.

The golden globe retires to bed,
Its colour changing to brilliant red,
It’s going to sleep with regal grace,
And multi colours will take its place;
Then this awesome wonder in the sky,
Will soon disappear without a sigh,
As I watch entranced the glorious end,
The parting of a celestial friend,
I will etch this beauty in my mind,
So the night so long will be so kind.

Bossy my owner calls me ****
but I wonder if he's just being funny
maybe it does suit me 'cause I'm so fit
anyway I have to get used to it

for really how can I protest
when my owner can't access
any doggy word I say ……
it's the same **** thing every day

you know, it's really not too good
when I can't be understood
but I ask of you, what can I do …….
when my owner doesn't have a clue

I'm a male dog of mixed breed,
Bossy loves me and that's all I need,
so now that you and I at last have met,
you'll want to know more about me I'll bet
Adventures of a dog named **** -  this poem is from my series of **** Dog (the dog's owner is called Bossy)

I couldn’t hear his soft footsteps,
Though I sensed that he was behind,
Since he seemed very close to me,
I wondered what he had in mind;
I waited till he was too close,
Then I suddenly spun around,
But to my chagrin and surprise,
It was my shadow that I found.

Showing off is always such a pain,
In the neck, also you-know-elsewhere,
It’s a sign of insecurity,
And doesn’t impress nor here nor there
Be humble

Sometimes it is very difficult,
For answers to really be sincere,
Oftentimes people ask for opinions,
But the truths -  they do not want to hear.
Shaun Yee Jan 2021
In early hours of morning,
Still in darkness at break of dawn,
I am roused from sleeping by birds,
Singing in trees across the lawn.

The hidden birds are waking up,
Each feathered friend has its say,
They are now chirping what to do,
Before they fly off for the day.

Their singing seems to never end,
And their chatter I faintly keep,
In the drowsiness of my mind,
Before I drift off back to sleep.

If I could float up to the sky,
Be with the moon and stars up high,
And hide from common earthly sight,
Never seen by day or night,
I would surely find a way,
To take you up with me to stay,
To spend our days and nights above,
With joy, laughter, happiness and love.

Shaun Yee Mar 2022
This morning waking up is such a chore,
It’s so lovely to sleep just minutes more,
Though the stupid alarm has gone off twice,
I think I'm truly feeling not too nice,
Because I went to bed too late last night,
And now I just don’t want to see daylight,
So really I will opt in bed to stay,
Maybe remain for the rest of the day.

They are small things but mean so much,
A look, a word, a gentle touch,
Unspoken acts that make one see,
Love, Understanding and Empathy.

She was hurt, very, very hurt,
but she kept it all inside herself,
looking at her, one could never tell,
unless one manages to see,
those silent teardrops that fell

For she was good at disguising,
keeping all her emotions hidden,
and all the sadness within,
for weeks and months and years,
until she finally passed away,
finally freed of all her fears

And still, looking at her,
one could never tell, all the,
suffering that she had had,
she had not even one close friend,
that she could confide in,
while that tiny smile of loneliness,
she carried till the very end
the lonely

Tender creature in the cold,
Snugly small and black and bold,
No warm refuge have you found,
Perched five feet above the ground,
Snowflakes are still floating down,
Do I see you with a frown?
I should have some crumbs for you,
If I’d known I’d see you too,
But If you will come with me,
In a nice warm cage you’ll be.

I watched the snowflakes falling in the night,
And was thrilled with such a simple splendid sight,
All was changing slowly to white and clear,
And a breathless silence hovered by my ear.
I watched the snowflakes for minutes more,
I could see the beauty grow beyond the door,
Then I went to sleep with a happy heart,
Loving the feeling that snowflakes can impart.

They were just new-born baby snowflakes
heavy raindrops splashing on the walls
half an hour later fully grown
and falling like fluffy cotton *****

It snowed heavily for half a day
The snowflakes falling without a sound
everything slowly changed to white
rooftops, treetops, bushes and the ground

Such a beauteous stunning scenery
was thrilling to capture all in mind
for a joyous glorious little while
snowflakes make me leave my cares behind
snowflakes are beautiful :-)

His charcoal black eyes seemed slightly near,
A twiggy grin spread from ear to ear,
A light frost covered his carrot nose,
With his branchy arms in open pose.

A red coloured hat sat on his head,
While a soft rope was his belt instead,
A yellow wool scarf lay on his chest,
The snowman did look his handsome best.

But with the hot sun he would go down,
And his melting face would wear a frown,
Then one evening he would soon be gone,
Turned to a bundle of snow forlorn.

The little monkeys asked their elders,
Why Evil on earth never ends,
Mankind seems quite incapable,
For everyone to live as friends.

Earthly souls are so corrupted,
And goodness is seldom known,
For Evil has triumphed as usual,
Since the first day that it was sown.

Why is Cruelty abundant,
Why is everything so unfair,
Why do all poor people suffer,
Aren't there good folks anywhere?

Alas the wiser elders did reply,
Mankind souls have been seduced,
By Material things and Self-love,
Real Love has sadly been reduced.

If there is ever real Justice,
In this world that we all live in,
Everything can still be alright,
If Morality will reign supreme.
A fun/tongue-in-cheek/philosophical poem from my "curious monkeys" file .... :-)  if you don't like the poem, please don't grumble to me .... go grumble with my monkeys.

A little sauce upon the fish,
A dash of chilly on that dish,
A sprinkle of pepper in the soup,
Gives us all a better food.

A little kindness on our part,
A dash of feeling in our heart,
A sprinkle of love until the end,
Makes us all a better friend.

I carry some walnuts in a bottle,
which are mainly meant to be
fed to the lovely squirrels,
that every now and then I see.
They come around in the garden,
and also spring from tree to tree,
the sight of these playful squirrels,
is always a tremendous joy for me.
Squirrels are really cute

He pretended he wasn't there,
When he looked intently at me,
Staying immobile statue-like,
Feinting to be part of the tree;

For several seconds he froze,
No single movement did he make,
The squirrel could have been sculptured,
from wood or clay just like a fake;

Slowly I threw him a walnut,
And suddenly he came alive,
Grabbing the nut and scrambling off,
I had no time to count to five.
In our condominium surroundings we have a lot of squirrels. They are still very timid and freeze up pretending they don't exist when they feel they are in danger. I am still trying to entice them to accept food (nuts) from the hand

He is looking at me
We are both wondering
What the outcome will be

I think that he is wrong
He thinks the error's mine
Both of us can't be right
The ending won't be fine

This morning after I woke up,
In the room mirror I did see,
What looked like a fuzzy stranger,
Staring back intently at me.
He copied all my expressions,
Doing exactly what I did,
I frowned, he frowned, I smiled, he smiled,
So very much like me indeed.

Catching them all, nothing ever falls,
Confident as could be,
His act a sight to see,
Performing in streets and shopping malls.

We don't really think much about it,
Although we suffer it all the time,
We are stalked from early morn till night,
Leaving us helpless without a fight,
Stress surrounds us everywhere,
It's lurking constantly here and there.

A host of sicknesses it will bring,
And this is not just a passing thing,
Our organs, kidneys, lungs and heart,
Will all be struck in whole or in part,
We have to evade stress seriously,
For it's our mortal enemy.

So preventive measures we must take,
Some sacrifices we have to make,
Daily exercises are a must,
Simple healthy moves that you can trust,
Meditation, yoga, you will find,
All of these will leave your stress behind.
