A child's Imagination
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
I enjoy watching my baby boy’s drama
In his room, on his bed among his toys
What a superb imagination
Translated in a form of play...
A battle between the amazing legacy of heroes
Put George Lucas in the house of shame
With his famous Luke Sky walker,
In Star Wars saga
Have Sam Raimi’s done his research well?
In creating Spiderman 3?
With this “genius in the making” young child
Left alone to build his creativity
I am convinced  with obvious prediction...
Hollywood superheoes  would be doomed..
Here is a 2 year old boy
In Spideman suit, Acting Spiderman,
hitting the Angry bird jet
The jet punches Spiderman back.
Then, Mama is forced to sleep with Spiderman
Forced Mama again, this time to love the Man of Steel
After the gruel some battle,
Jet & Spiderman decided to sleep together
in the pink hammock with Tigger.
The proud child is happy ,
His mission is accomplished!
A bottle of luke warm milk...
Well done! He earns his trophy
Tonight  he helps to save the world.
still keeping my son's toys.

Funny English language
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
If the plural form of a mouse is mice
and many many louse is called lice
why isn't the plural of house is hice?
and a nose be nice?
a kiss , kice?
English is a funny language isn't it?
Yet we learn to master it
The non natives speak and write
in their different accents and styles
Struggling to be understood
rather than be judged...
Still English is fun to learn
and Writing poetry is a great exercise
for English language learners.
perhaps i need a remedial class too.

Masquarade
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
Put on your mask
and face the world
don't need to worry
the person hidden underneath
wear your mask again
as you come home from work
people wouldn't know
you'd just lost your work

the mask covers your eyes
hide the telling eyes
and tell no one you'd been hurt inside
your mask is the smile
that covers your pain
who will know behind that charming smile
your heart cries , hoping you're still sane

secrets are not to be revealed
you know the rules and the risk
so you put on a smiling face
keep silent and smile
you masked your misery
on the pretext you're happy
hidden behind lies after lies
the truth is doomed to fade

again you love to hide behind your mask
thinking  its the only way to survive
denying one day...
one day... you'd be unmasked

An Enchanted Evening...
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
Enchanted Evening
sipping iced lemon tea
the cooling sea breeze
refreshing, rejuvenating
dreaming on a hammock
under a coconut trea
enjoying the warmth of evening sun
just before the sunset
spending the last hours of the day
hours of standing, talking, writing...
now the time to relax
in a secret hideaway...
let the gentle wind massages your skin...
and pampers your day....

Juliet in Literature Class
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
Juliet looks at her watch
feeling bored,  Mrs Saad please stop blabbering
Juliet glances at her friends
ah cmon, stop pretending writing notes
Juliet stares at the whiteboard
The alphabets are dancing
The sentences jumbled up
Juliet looks again at her watch
convinced Mrs Saad would never stop
Juliet peeps between Steve and Chris
there is Romeo looking so serious
concentrating in Literature class
Romeo is the most outstanding
His art is most envied
Now Juliet feels ashamed
To win Romeo, she should at least
try to write a stanza of poem
role play a scene from Shakespeare
and write a script for a play...
who would notice her enchanting beauty
In Mrs Saad's  literature class
unless she proves the beauty of her brain
in a form of literary texts that convince
and win....
so to all Juliets in my class, stop building castle in the air...

Poet's Tea Party
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
Listen to the drum beats
the jungle songs roar in delight
a jungle tea party in Hello Poetry
Poets sing along to the jungle beat
Make a toast and cheers everyone
Poets are drinking poetry.....
just an idea of having a party in Hello Poetry...
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
You were tiny when I brought you home
I vowed to give my all to you
And keep you in my life
I have you now as my best friend;
My best companion
The voice in my head
A gentle reminder always!
I started to realize
That every time I look at you
I see my eyes in you,
my daughter's eyes...
my youngest daughter Alia, I love you so much.

My Prince - Poem for Asif
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
Am not a queen
but he is my prince
I treasure him most
as a prince should deserve
He does not cling on me much anymore
as he matures and grows
He seeks my asisstance in
less demanding ways
To get him out of troubles
I stand by him still
Soon he will have a girl
Unsure will he still
have  me in his mind
But Just remember my son,
you are the most special one
let me ensure, i am so proud
to say "This is my charming son"

Love, Mom
My eldest son good luck in your studies and dont forget to eat before going to lectures..  Love you..
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
Your sweetness blooms
Even on days when it gloom
This flower we protect most
and hold her to our hearts so close
Young lady, my daughter
you are stronger than anything life throws your way.
Take care of each petals of this flower
and preserve its fragrance,
keep blooming and shine your way...
my precious daughter we love you most....
this poem is dedicated to my daughter Asilla who has just started pursuing her study in the university. Love you so much.
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
At the lowest point of my life
He never leaves me alone
I don't get to see him
to worship him
But i feel him
his spirit surrounds
He guides me in the most
holy way...
just when there is no one to talk to
He listens to each prayers of mine
he may not solve all my troubles
but he shows me the way...
he may not grant all my wishes
but he teaches me patience
tests me and directs me
till i accept all the challenges
as i keep my faith stronger
he is the only one god
who will save me from
evil deeds and makes my life complete
In my darkest days,
when my spirit the weakest
I am not alone
Allah is always with me...
I am a Muslim and I am proud. I believe in my god and I respect other religious faiths.

Not a giggle
but a laughter
so loud my laughter
Ha... Ha... Ha...

it clears my lung
and cleanse my soul

my headaches gone
my migraines settled
ha... ha.... ha...
Relieved...
younger by a year...
Laughter is the best medicine.

The sound of the night
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
Enchanted with the sound of the night
The crickets sing a song to the moonlight
The stars twinkle and the moon  shines so bright
the shy sky speaks when the time is right
passionate kisses on a restless night
caressing the piece of art , part by part
treasure the night
with such seductive delight...
sweet memorable good night

A Fairytale Never Ends...
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
Holding hands
Dancing on the moon
Walking on cloud nine
The sky looks brighter
A few scattered lights shine
On the horizon
Look at the shadows
Waltzing with delights
The rays of the moonlight
Celebration of the hearts
When a princess meets his prince
The fairy tale begins…
When a prince kisses his princess
The fairy tale rocks in delight
When a prince kneels
and asks a princess hand in marriage
The fairy tale writes its chapter two
And the stars celebrate and twinkle in the night,
The moon shining bright,
Emitting a fabulous silver light,

the prince is knight in shining armor coming out of the blue,
Sweeps the princess off her feet
Steals her away from the comfort of her castle
To write her fairy tales chapters
In a castle in far way land…..
a fairytale never ends....

"Somebody"
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
somebody special
somebody who?
somebody smiles
thinking he is the who.
if he is the who.
and his smiles come
through.
then he is very special
this is the truth.
if you speak of me
or you speak of you
all will be revealed
then this will be the
truth .
open hearts ,and open
minds i think we both are
the who and the who's who
your special who
and my special who..

My teacher’s cell phone
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
Heard a beeping sound
Followed by A very old Frank Sinatra’s song
My classmates’ heads turned
Who’s phone? who’s phone?
Less chaotic when the teacher glared
Everybody put their heads down
And checked their sophisticated mobile phones
Once again...
When the teacher wasn’t looking..
Mobile phones roamed in a dull classroom
Updating facebook status,
Uploading candid photos of a snoring friend
Copy pasting assignment
Text messaging and gossiping about their stern looking teacher
In the name of advanced technology
Mobile smartphones create the impossibles...
Beyond the blackboard and the four walls of the classroom
O o Frank Sinatra’s song again...
And everybody started looking...
The teacher grabbed her mobile phone
Tried to switch it off....
When students could own smartphones..
Who needs NOKIA from the old time zone....?

~ Sharina~
should have thrown my cellphone into the deep sea...

I wish I want more wishes
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
I ask myself the question of what,
what do i want?
what is my wish?
I am almost out of words
To think of my wants
To encapsulate my wishes
Reviewing my too many wishes
Putting them together into view
My tantrums start, my head throbs
Too many wants,
too much headaches they say
But surprisingly...
I wish I have More wishes to come
After the review of the
too many wishes and too many wants
map my wishes and my wants together and view
****.. I am almost out of wishes
To Talk about my wants and wishes..
listen to the words there ,
I wish I want more wishes

They say Ruffle Top!
the in thing nowadays..
Hurriedly you went for shopping
A pink Ruffle top..
gorgeous indeed..
splendid effect as you put it on...
but oppss...
do you look slimmer or larger?
as it hangs off of the widest parts of you
and all the slimmer parts are hidden
a fashion prey once again
fall to be victim of girly cuteness!

Let me Cry
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
I wanted to cry
But the tears wouldn’t come
I cant hold back any longer

I am choking..
there is a blockage in my throat…

I am gasping for air..
There is no more air to breathe..

But before I say goodnight
and put myself to sleep
Please let me cry….
One last cry….

Mom's kitchen...
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
When I was little
often I watched my mom in the kitchen
working till late night
kitchen was her cocoon
kitchen was her heaven
I had to pretend to be sick
to take her out from there
Once I caught her sobbing
at the kitchen sink
as a child I asked her so innocently
"Did daddy make you cry"
No darling she said
She smiled and continued with dishes..
and left me with the question WHY?
Years later..
and today I am a mother myself
The tragedy in mom's kitchen still haunting my life
watching my mom crying in her kitchen
was not a good picture,
not a good memory as a child
not at all.....
The kitchen was her castle
In the warmth of her kitchen
she made miracles…she created magic upon magic
splendid recipes... superb dishes
feeding her loved ones... with love
but Today I realized  how my mother
released herself and that could have made her survive
By working so hard in the kitchen
By often hiding her despairs and sorrows
Her kitchen was her secret hiding place
every time she was hurt...
when the world treated her so unfairly
In the comfort of her Kitchen
She consoled herself....
How did I realize this after so many many years?
today for the very first time
I cried myself at the kitchen sink
In my very own cozy kitchen
over a pile of dinner plates ,
almost breaking a glass
so afraid to lose control...
but my kitchen is heaven that saves me...
as my tears are falling over the bubbles in the sink
How I came to understand my mother's feelings...
by standing there in the kitchen...
remisniscing... and..
breathing this life
feeling this life
experiencing with life
living with life....
as long as mothers are alive
they live their life
to share the laughter and joy
of their husband and children
to endure the pain and sorrows
but hide them once in a while....
in mom's heavenly kitchen
with love to my late mom... Rest in Peace

What a nice morning
The sun shines lazily
shyly showing its face
unenthusiastically  shines with its grace
For all mankind and nature it'll embrace
Before the dark clouds form and move
Green umbrella for me today
that matches my shoes
a brief moment of sunlight
an expected heavy downpour later...

A poet makes magic!
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
So many  words are dancing in my head
waiting to to be released
wanting me to create
just another magic
and tell the world
how words can paint the canvas of life
I am so careful of these magic words
cant even turn my head to the left or right
scared if the words would fall
and the verses turn upside down..
creatively and carefully adding the right potion
of sweet fragrance to beautify each verses
my heart is pounding
My fingers are dancing
word after word..
the diction must be perfect...
This is the time
when poets write their best verse.
a poet with a great mind for writing ..
greatness only rely on an honest pen and an open heart
To be called a poet in your own right
create more magic,
the hungry readers are well fed
an enthusiastic poet is satisfied..

Friendship
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
Between night and day ,
Between morning coffee and afternoon tea
Between oceans and mountains far apart
In one house far away
One poet is turning in,
In another,
a poet is rushing to work,
In one cafe a poet is having lunch,
with a laptop on the table
The other has just started a day,
Perhaps With a baby on her lap
We are..
Poets from different continents
Living in separate horizons
Poets from a different time zone shall meet,
For the love of writing...
creative people gather together
poets become friends, close friends
a big happy family in Hello Poetry
we shall meet despite of the differences...
without fail...
To paint the world with words...
and make it colorful... beautiful...
no distance is too far
no clouds, no moon, no sunshine, no rain can say a word.
when friendship has no boundaries so do the time and space.

The Heavy Rain
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
Oh the rain
The rain is pouring
Everywhere on every pane
So hard it falls
So heavy
all you can see
water, just water everywhere
Your vision is blurry
As the rain is pounding hard
on the road
On the car
On the building
just Everywhere
How nice it is..
to go back to deep sleep...
and forget about work..
But life goes on ...
no matter how heavy the pitter patter falls.....
yet to write another chapter
in life's story..
Monday Morning and its raining heavily....

A Silent Tear
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
A litre of hot tears fall from angry eyes..
But never it reduces the fire inside of me....
If the heavy falling rain could fight the forest fire...
Why couldnt my tears do just the same...?
Just because I come out strong,
doesnt mean there is nothing wrong.
Smiling has always been easier to fake...
Rather than to explain the Burn in 0ne's Heart ???
Every tear is a sign of brokeness,
every silence is a sign of loneliness,

I always smile and shed a secret tear...
Wishing it heals my internal scars...
I went in the rain and i walked in the dark...
Who says water helps in putting of fire?
My eyes do not show anymore tears may be..
But in my heart is heavy downpour....
How come the fire is there .. its still there...

Its the fire burning inside of me ... its burning.. burning hot..
I wish each drop of salty tear would erase the flame....
For I promise myself would never to cry again.....
Would it be worth to shed a tear of mine ever again?

Each drop of a tear is precious ...then anything in the world
No one knows its true value for they ‘ve not learnt the pain...
I hide a tear and pretend to smile...
My body is trembling my heart is burning... .....
You wouldn't know how it feels...
To have to hide a tear....
Not until you have it in your own eyes for someone so dear..

I miss your smile
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
I'm lying alone in my room
Staring at your photographs
This pain tells me that I'm in love
And I can't go on without you
I take a walk down this boulevard
And meet all the people we know
Darling I can't stop missing you
No matter what I do or where I go

I miss your smile, I miss the heaven
That lives inside your eyes. I miss you
From the moment I wake up
Till I lie sleepless at night
Oh, I miss your smile.

I'd give everything to hold you now
Instead of your photographs
I'd do anything now to make you smile
Anything to hear you laugh
I've been holding back rivers of tears
Hoping that you'll back here
As long as I live and as long as I'm sane
You'll burn in my heart like an eternal flame

I miss your smile, I miss the times
I've had you in my life. I miss you
Everyday and every night with
Every heartbeat inside
All the time! I miss your smile.
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
As she chooses the flowers to decorate her bun
She chooses the petals, she thinks the best
She has to choose….
What would you do if you have two difficult choices to make?
What if both choices were equally important?
Whether to just ignore your people and lead your own life?
Or …to follow your dad’s footsteps and lead the country?
It was hidden in Aung San Suu Kyi’s life
She only had two choices to make and she finally made her choice
But she was kept in her house all alone
by the cruel Burmese military for so many years
But she still chose to save her people’s life
And made her father and ancestors proud
She is happy with her choice
Not because she was caught by the military
It is because she is one brave lady
The lady Aung San Suu Kyi has made the choice of her life,
My daughter Alia is eleven and she is a big fan of Aung San Suu Kyi.

A FAKE HERO
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
He dines in a fancy restaurant
Walks in proud in custom-made suits
A butler serves caviar in a silver platter
Pour him a glass of champagne, one after another
Muses himself with an imported cigar
A public figure with a fat belly, richly famous!
Millions in cash, billions in accounts
He eats three full meals a day
Why should he care if your family is starving or sickly?
A helicopter sends him to work everyday
Does he care you struggle to death for a meager salary?
You work for him; you sacrifice your life…
Do you think he even knows your name?
The day he falls, he pleads your sympathy..
The day you are gone and where is he?
He pays you your wages, ends his responsibility
Never begs or whines, not in his list of duties
Your problems are yours and yours alone
When are you going to get, that’s who he is?
Still you idolize this fake hero who does nothing
But all talks of power and money!!

Losing.... Winning..
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
A loser wishes...
The earth would swallow him up..
As he falls flat to the ground...
When he has Nothing else to hold on to...
Except to surrender... GIVING UP!!
A loser wishes..
To bury his head down to the ground..
Losing is the most painful defeat
Broken pieces of heart...
Self-esteem is thrown to the drain...
Chaotic emotion, endless worries..
Hot Tears that bleed...
Take him Years to recover
To be the same person again..
To mend his wounded soul...
If only he could cling on his faith..
That no sweet success will come so easily..
To accept failures is easy said than done...
To gain that trust again... To trust your bleeding soul..
And to tell it to move on... to go on with life...
Failures will not make you a loser..
Failures are the blessings in disguise..
If you were brave enough to endure defeats
Then you are already a winner...

Love Replica
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
You spoke of love
You said you care
Your obsession is killing me
What is love if we cant breathe
properly on our own
What is love if
every movements is threat
every utterances is suspicion
every decisions is criticized
Your love does not let me breathe
Your love is a chain tied me to the wall
not letting me to walk so freely
not letting me to inhale or exhale
without you being there
taking charge , be in charge
to guard this human replica...
Protecting it with your life
unintentionally dominating, monopolizing,
manipulating the so called love
yet too dumb to realize that
a human life is dying
inside this replica of yours.....
love is mutual understanding. sometimes we do not realize how our love too can be burdensome to someone we love. Before its too late... be wise!

Memories
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
Memories keep lingering
bringing you back to past life
Never letting you pass
as you wanted to move on
memories are just like your shadows
never leave your side
Tagging along with you
your entire life
even in sheer darkness
The memories still haunting you
at the end of a dark alley
when there is a little light
you only wanted to forget
yet the old scars keep reminding you
the shadows of the past..
wrapped tightly around you
suffocating you yet keeping you alive
to suffer the misery of remembering!
the ugliest episode in life
the unpleasant days..
that remain intact till the day
you exit yourself
from the world.....

Little Red Riding Hood
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
Little Red Riding Hood
a name given to thee
loved helping her mom with chores
and one day  to run  an errand for her
Put on her red hood ,
a basket in her hand
and off she went into the  familiar woods
while Picking up berries she heard a roar
Quickly she ran to her granny's door
Poor granny was on her bed
Amused...  Red Riding Hood quickly came closer and said
Suspiciously....
"What a big pair of eyes you have grandma"
"What a big nose you have grandma"
"What a big pair of ears you have grandma"
"What a furry big thing you are grandma"
But grandma was too sick to answer...
Her suspicion  grew stronger
It wasn't her grandma lying on the bed
Pretended to be sick but salivating for her crazily
Her breathing was heavy,
her howling could almost be heard
What a tricky big beast!
Carefully she took her bow and arrow from her basket
and shot her cunning wolf granny in the heart
Hurriedly she  opened the closet
Granny was safe , granny was still alive
Little Red Riding Hood hugged and kissed her
and thanked her real granny
for the archery lessons she gave her...
sharpened her mind
shooting her target
saving a life
saved her granny's life
you must learn self defense while in the forest.

My Cat Harry
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
watch the activities of this lttle furry thing
in the space between its grace
that invite me to think
of all the spaces in a car for a ride
why the driver's neck?
Ride after ride,
Deep thoughts,
Thorough observations
came to a conclusion which is obviously true
first the neck, then the shoulder
a platform for Harry's window to the outside
world!!
For harry who loves to sit around my hubby's neck in our car for  a ride.

You are here
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
The world may say you are not here
But you are here and here only
You never really left my side
Even now you are holding my hand
In every paths , no matter where
You are always watching me
smiling at me, talking to me
You are there, here,
in fact everywhere
Where I go I will find you
You are here
You are here and here only

Late Night Poetry
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
Late night
My brain is the most fluid
Sorry darling,
I don't hate the bed
I am in love with poetry
and poetry is loving me
my fingers keep pressing the alphabets
on the computer keyboard
to form magical words, phrases, sentences
till magic is created
another poetry is done....

Poor Rapunzel...
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
Locked away in a tower in the middle of a forest
since the age of twelve
Hidden from the public eyes for years
Beautiful Rapunzel was imprisoned
A binding promise made
To compensate for the sin of his father
who stole for love

Rapunzel's life was completely shut
a couple of times in a day
she only came to light
only to let her golden long hair down
through a tiny window that connected her caged like world
to the bright world outside

upon a call from the enchantress
"Rapunzel, Rapunzel, please let your long hair down for me"
Rapunzel let down the braids of her hair,
and the enchantress climbed up to her

Many years have passed
nobody knew of Rapunzel's existence
The dragging years
Too little sunlight
The magnificent hair of Rapunzel
became weak and thin
Once it was the strongest ladder
but The enchantress fell in the thorny garden
in an attempt to climb up the tower

Rapunzel's hair no longer lustrous and strong
Waiting for a brave prince for too long
Till the hair is tired and the waits prolonged....

Should I trust your hands
Sharina Saad Jun 2013
Should I trust your hands
When you are mad
they keep pushing me away
Should I trust your hands
When you are sad
They keep hugging me close
Should I trust your hands
When you are happy
They keep holding me
Should I trust your hands
When you are loving me
They keep cuddling me
Should I trust my hands instead?
When you are sleeping
They keep writing poetry....
write and dream poetry...
