Made me not love you the way I used to,

“Heartless”
Shari Forman Oct 2013
It was my father who left me,
To discover a place of his own,
Lonely and disheartened I felt,
For a place called “unknown.”
Baffled was I,
As to why he suddenly left me,
I trembled alone in fear,
Was I a goner soon to be?
Where have my hopes gone,
Withered away to stone,
Leaving nothing but the past,
For a place called, “unknown.”
Why do I feel resentment?
My father had a horrifying tone,
Had left me heartbroken,
For a place called, “unknown.”
My heart beats like thunder,
As I shiver to the bone,
My father ruined me,
For a place called, “unknown.”
Where will I go from here?
Too much my father had shown,
A martyr my father will always be,
For a place called, “unknown.”

"Heartfelt Love"
Shari Forman Oct 2013
I see you beside me in my dreams,
Smiling straight at me,
But I seem to disappear,
To where I can no longer see.
My heart bled when we united,
And my heart bled when I longed to see you,
My heart feels of stone when I miss the boy I love,
Love too deep, too painful, too heartfelt; too good to be true.
Let's stay apart for quite a while,
Alas I'm forever yours,
Please wrap your arms around my heart,
Keep me wanting more.

Shari Forman Sep 2013
If I died today,
Would the people care,
Would they take notice,
Of every wound implanted; every tear?
But my soul has died today,
And my heart, a solid black,
Then the tears came again,
If only I died a heart-attack.

"Cries of love"
Shari Forman Sep 2013
You hurt me without even realizing it,
Barely texting me in time of need,
With such busy schedules,
My lonely heart bleeds.
It bleeds and cries out for love;
Please don't forget about me,
Brought into your hidden warmth,
But as broken as could be.
Love is the definition of misery,
Far away for far too long,
I contemplate our memories,
Now where did i go wrong?
I cannot change your feelings for me,
But I know this much is true,
You have unknowingly made me fall in love with you,
Made my world black and blue. *I love you and I pray you feel the same way

My heart,
Gone like the wind.
My head,
Shot up in flames.
My soul,
Buried amongst my head and heart.

My stomach,
A ball of knots.
My brain,
Simply dead.
My life,
Anxiety at its finest.

"A Weaker Mind"
Shari Forman Sep 2013
If given the chance,
Would you erase the past,
Or simply move forward,
Like every second was your last?
Would you ponder your thoughts,
Or sleep your life away,
Would you crawl under a rock,
Day after day?
Would you open up your heart,
To the one you truly love,
Or would you lock up your feelings,
And give fate a shove?
Would you reach the farthest you could reach,
Or fall down with regret,
Would you ever defy yourself as self-actualized,
Or suffer from anxiety, lonesome, and much fret?
Would you accept who you are,
Or watch others grow,
Would you discover happiness,
Or remain too shy; too slow?
Would you keep your head up high,
When you're feeling down,
Or isolate yourself,
From all around?
Would you follow your heart,
Or only use your head,
Would you let true talent go to waste,
And feel as if it's dead?
Would you drink your sorrows away,
Or face reality,
Would you fight until satisfied,
Or suffer brutality?
Would you speak your mind,
Or let others exploit you,
Would you live life to its fullest,
Or become withered; black and blue?
Would you cry when you needed to,
Or have a large lump in your throat,
Would you express your emotions,
As your personal anecdote?
Would you always think positive,
Or have a negative mind,
Would you make the most of your life,
Or have the beauty, yet to find.
Would you help those in need,
Or just hope and pray,
Would you make an impact in their lives,
Or assume they'll be okay?
So if given the chance,
Would you begin your life anew,
Or contemplate all the memories,
After all you've gone through.

"Feelings of Love"
Shari Forman Sep 2013
When you are deeply in love with someone,
You may want to talk to them every hour of every day,
Or think about them.
The truth is,
When you are in love with someone,
you won't want to bother them too much,
You'll try not to think about them as well,
Because despite the pain from within,
If you wait for him,
In only a matter of time
You'll end up in his arms for good one day.

"One Year Anniversary"
Shari Forman Aug 2013
Firstly I wanted to say,
I have never felt such a deep sense of contentment until I met you,
That you make my heart beat faster than anything,
A feeling too good to be true.
I wanted to tell you
That I will wait for you,
Through the many opportunities we will encounter,
And will always support you the whole way through.
I wanted to thank you,
For all your support throughout this past year,
Whether it be through sports, life situations, or academics,
I've learned to stay strong and persevere.
I can honestly say,
No one has made me laugh as much as you,
That I can't get enough of your humor,
A feeling I never knew.
You have taken me out to many places,
And bought me many things,
But your love surpasses all of which,
Of such passion and warmth, you always bring.
I would now like to take the time to apologize,
For kicking you, screaming in your ear, and crushing you,
I just have muscle spasms every now and then,
It's not normally what I do.
You have brought me to an exotic place,
Filled with excitement, pure joy, and much love,
For when you smile, I smile,
As sparks fly, up above.
I'm incredibly lucky to have you as my boyfriend,
Where our love is mutual too,
My heart speaks a thousand words right now,
But all I can say is,
I love you.

"What a guy"
Shari Forman Jul 2013
If he starts talking to you,
He finds you cute.
If he keeps talking to you,
He is interested in you.
If he flirts with you,
He wants to get to know you.
If he asks you out,
He wants to see a different side of you.
If he kisses you,
He is experimenting with you.
If he asks you out again,
He finds you appealing.
If he becomes comforatable around you,
He likes you.
If he becomes reserved around your family,
He's respecting you.
If he says sweet things to you,
He finds you beautiful.
If he hugs you for more than ten seconds,
He's been hurting and needs you.
If he kisses you passionately,
He really likes you.
If he holds your hand,
He believes you are a couple now.
If he makes you laugh,
He is very fond of your personality.
If he wants to get more intimate with you,
He cares very much about you.
If he listens to you,
He is becoming very close with you.
If he smiles and looks in your eyes,
He doesn't want to let you go.
If he shares his life with you,
He is falling for you.
If he forgets at first, but comes back to hug you, "goodbye,"(temporarily)
He really is the greatest guy.
If he treats you well,
He wants to be with you.
If he does things just for you,
He loves you.
If he buys you meaningful things,
He really cares about you.
If he has you on his mind most of the time,
He's in love with you.
If you love him with all your heart,
And he loves you with all his heart,
Then he's the one.

"Simply Stop"
Shari Forman Jul 2013
Just stop trying to be someone who you're not,
Because evidently, it hurts a lot.
Stop the staring and wishing to be someone that's not you,
All the unwanted thoughts passing through.
A head filled with endless wants and needs,
Desire for illusions, my helpless heart bleeds.
Stop all the complaining and fuss,
With all the fights, who’s to trust?
You are not inferior to any of thee,
But through those faded pupils, can you see?
Do you notice the world around you?
Or are you too oblivious, so lost, so blue?
Just get over your interrogating feelings of doubt,
Strive beyond your abilities; go all out.
Know what to expect from your actions,
Superior or inferior, the omnipotent fraction.
Simply love yourself and only you,
Forget the haters with nothing better to do.
Handle life's challenges in a way a unified manner,
Instead of debating who is tanner.
Live for the moment and appreciate all the love,
You have always received near and above.
Stop fooling with your mind,
Sobbing away till clearly blind.
Let yourself know we all think differently through everything,
That without you, it'd be lifeless; all the personality you bring.
We all have the power to try,
maybe then our minds won't die.
Try something riveting and new,
Something you are proud to call you.
Stop trying to love thee,
A fool, a coward you would be.
Love yourself above all,
But care for others and proudly stand tall.
Yes, I said love and not hate,
break past the open gate.
Express yourself for what you want,
Easing of tensions, by detente.
Stop all the excuses and lying,
The unreal attitude you have, the fake crying.
Trapped in portieres,
All the feelings of distrust, how unfair!
So let’s close the portieres of guilt,
And cover up with a nice, warm quilt.
A good night’s rest will do the trick,
For a poor one, who's psychologically sick.
It will help alleviate the pain,
To feel some comfort, once again.
Stop hurting yourself and feeling down,
That ashamed, guilty, timid frown.
You will learn to love,
And give those unjust feelings a great shove.
Go have fun and smile wide,
Because no matter what, when, where, why...
Everybody is on your side.
Shari Forman Jul 2013
I stand atop a hill,
Right in the thick of love,
Deeply pondering my thoughts,
From high, up above.
It was not until I saw your face,
Did my heart slowly start to pound,
Envisioning nothing more than blurriness,
From all around.
As I look into your eyes,
I can’t help but form a luminous smile,
A feeling that comes only within,
And appears all the worthwhile.
How did I find such a worthy guy?
Respectful and sincere beyond belief,
Loving and very much admirable,
Attractive, heartwarming, with perfect teeth.
I stand atop a hill,
Embracing you with loving arms,
Kissing your lips with passion,
Discovering all you’re charms.
You leave me in much suspense,
Every time we unite,
You’re love to me exceeds all expectations,
A feeling oh, so right!
So much freedom,
We endure,
As we embark on new adventures,
With much to explore.
I stand atop a hill,
Smiling endlessly through the night,
Because I know you’re always there for me,
Always shining bright. <3

Her name is Ava,
An autistic girl who just needs love,
A beautiful angel sent to us,
From almighty God, up above.
She's in her own little world,
That is far from here,
What she doesn't know is that she's loved,
An innocent girl who lives in fear.
She may be aggressive at times,
Disobey the rules and cry,
But she can't help her actions,
We can only hope and try.
I can empathize with her,
I can cry like her as well,
But I will never see the world through Ava's eyes,

***, a knife in my chest,
Not a day I rest.
My anxiety is too high,
I have not a clue why.
They threw a book at my face,
And expected me to work at their pace.
All of a sudden work became too much to handle,
I sit in mental agony, trembling with a melted candle.
it seems unjust, unfair,
To now have me decide; to fully care.
I am baffled as to why there was a requirement,
I feel trapped inside an isolated environment.
Did they ask about my feelings?
Did they wonder what I knew?
Did they care I favored my abilities over theirs?
Did they realize this much is true?
The book beside me is relentless,
It motions for me to work day after day,
But I sit there with stress raging over me,
Will I be okay?
I try and I try,
To greatly improve in this never-ending book of lies,
For an outstanding score,
And the disappearance of my sighs.

You teach me to try my best,
And use the right grip too.

Laughing to your ironic jokes too.

You’re a great friend,
And my tennis partner too.

Besides your jokes,
I admire the effort you present too.

You’re very honest and sincere,
And fun to be around too.

My jokes will never surpass yours,
As our friendship grows too.

And improve on your unforced errors too.

Not even glancing at you too.

Now we’re best friends too.

And we’ll see each other too.

I awoke at the crack of dawn,
Feeling as lively as ever,
For I’d slept like a baby,
So tranquil and relaxed,
I think about glorious life,
As I lay smiling at my thoughts.

I rapidly erased my thoughts,
As I made my way downstairs,
And greeted my family good morning,
While munching on whole wheat cereal,
Having a vivacious conversation,
My brother feeding his pet guinea pig.

I can only imagine the joy of petting a guinea pig,
Although it doesn’t sound amusing,
As I watch his socialize with his pet,
Staring at him endlessly,
In awe,
For I am just speechless.

I then get dressed in my bedroom speechless,
I brush my long hair,
Rushing to brush my teeth,
Looking at the time with shock,
Getting nervous at the thought,
I’m going to miss the bus.

I then rush out the door to no bus,
As I wait there for over ten minutes,
When it suddenly dawned on me,
The bus had already came.
I then started walking rapidly,
Feeling butterflies in my stomach,
I was going to be marked tardy.

For I am never in my life tardy,
For this cannot be real,
I’ve never been late to class,
I felt hopeless and apologetic,
For I favored my teacher,
Who would soon loathe me.

Class started a day ago for me,
As I explained my whole story,
I then went to my seat,
Ashamed and guilty,
But this wasn’t my fault.
For I used to be more fastidious,
Now I’m as dead as a moth and not nearly as alive.

Laurie wakes up extra early to prepare a gourmet breakfast buffet with Shari and Matthew. As they all arrive to meet each other in the darkness, Laurie trips and falls over Matthew. In an instant, she comes tumbling down on Matthew. Shari ran to turn on the kitchen lights.

LAURIE: Where’s my glasses? I can’t see!

SHARI: Found them mom.

Shari goes to hand mom her reading glasses.

MATTHEW: Well, she’s broken her glasses and broken my back… Time to start the party.

SHARI: I’ll get the recipe book.

MATTHEW: I’ll get the icepack.

LAURIE: Matt, I’m fine; there’s no need to worry.

MATTHEW: Oh, thank God you’re okay! I am so glad; yup… So now there’s ice for only one, right?

Shari laughed from the dining room.

SHARI: Here’s the book. So we can make a simple egg omelet, which may not be the best idea, or pancakes with a side a various fruits. Ooh, that one sounds good, with a side of coffee.

LAURIE: How about eggs and bacon.

SHARI: Umm, that’s a tasteful thought, but dad’s trying to stay off the fatty foods for a while.

LAURIE: Oh, c’mon; it’s Father’s Day. He does so much for us.

SHARI: Alright. One cheese omelet with a side of bacon coming up.

MATTHEW: Ha-ha. Girl, you should be a chef.

LAURIE: A breakfast in bed idea sounds great. Let’s try it.

MATTHEW: Just don’t drop the food.

SHARI: She won’t Matt.

MATTHEW: Just making sure.

Five minutes later, as we all got the ingredients out, we began cooking the eggs. Once they were brown and crispy, we took the first egg out and began cooking a couple more. Shari started on the bacon. Once it was oily and cooked, Matt began making the coffee.

LAURIE: All finished. Good work guys. Lets bring it up to Howard.

SHARI: I’m so excited!

MATTHEW: Thrilled here too!

Laurie, Shari and Matt tiptoed upstairs, being in total darkness again. This wasn’t the brightest idea for them though. They walk into the bedroom still in the dark. Shari quickly turned on the light.

LAURIE, SHARI AND MATTHEW: Happy Father’s Day dad!

Howard awoke abruptly from a nightmare and accidentally knocked the plate that Laurie was carrying, out of her hands. The plate hit her in the nose and she fell backwards, falling on Shari and Matthew again.

HOWARD: Holy crapola… You scared the living daylights out of me at…

Howard looks at the clock

HOWARD: Seven o’clock in the morning!

SHARI: But we have, or had a breakfast in bed for you.

HOWARD: I appreciate this, but there’s cheese on my carpet now! LAURIE; mop!

Matthew's eyes widen,
He's found the prize,
A special animal,
What a surprise!
Soft and friendly,
But brown and white,
He knew this critter,
Was very much right!
He picked it up,
With all suspense,
The guinea pig squirmed,
And seemed very tense.
But Matthew calmed her down,
It layed soundly in his arms,
Matthew always thought to love,
And not to ever harm.
A thought went through Matthew's mind,
Should I name him Fluffy, Jerry.....
No, Sam I am!
The little critter loved that name,
And jumped for joy,
Then went and played,
With his addicting toy.
Matthew had taken Sam home,
And only till later did Sam feel tired,
It fell asleep rapidly,
From the amount of excitement,
This guinea had fired.

There once was a man named Pop,
Who always went out to mop.
He thought his mop was too chubby,
So he went to give it to Bubbie.
Bubbie went out to mop,
When suddenly, she halted to a stop.
She thought her mop was too thin,
So she dumped it back in the bin.
Bubbie accidently stepped in some glue,
But didn't know what to do.
Picking her foot up didn't work,
So she went to call the clerk.
The workers came rushing over,
As to playing the game red rover.
They went to get the mop,
And finally started to swap.
Bubbie's foot came twirling out,
When Pop walked out,
Cheering about.
He had been spying on Bubbie,
So she had gotten mad,
Pop had then realized,
What he had done was bad.

And sturdy eyes.
The men were so frightened,
Yet so eager and suspenseful,
They were willing
To know more,
About this little ripped sore.
The shoe opened its mouth,
And only said 3 words,
Fly with birds.
These men were confused,
Very clueless and dumb,
Peter had aimed for a target,
Then spit out his gum.
The shoe spoke again,
“Fly with birds”,
Yet only a fool,
Would follow that,
But they were nerds.
The men ran together; frightened,
Holding the shoe,
They knew what was happening,
They really, really knew.
The men were now lost,
So sorrow and blue,
What was that strong stench?
Could it be the shoe?
At that very moment,
The shoe flied up,
To the birds,
And when he landed with them,
He said, “Hey nerds”.
The men were fooled,
By a clever shoe,
Who knew he’s fly free,
Without any of thee.
Both nerds
Were now speechless,
Yet nowhere to be found,
But then finally decided,
To turn back around.

“One Greedy Witch”
Shari Forman Feb 2013
Once there was a witch,
So greedy and clever,
She hid her broom,
No one found it ever.
Her broom was small,
Yet very wide,
She had no friends,
By her side.
She had no hair,
Instead,
A poorly made wig,
When it comes to cow liver,
She’ll eat like a pig.
Until one day,
A crowd joined in,
The witch was confuse,
She needed a spin.
People held up signs,
In a very large letters,
“What selfish witch is to care for us no better”?!
Kids were yelling,
Babies were crying,
And elders were lying.
The witch opened a window,
And yelled out loud,
“What good am I to do for you, you beastly crowd”?!
The witch said to leave,
And to leave their stack,
To turn around,
And to never come back.
The citizens refused to leave,
Along with the babies,
All did not care,
If that witch had rabies.
They’d come to ask a favor,
For the witch to be kind,
To share her magic broom,
Without any decline.
This greedy witch refused at first,
But saw their faces and signs.
She decided to share,
To let one another ride,
But there’s one thing she knew,
That she had everybody by her side.

… “Ready Scarlett; one, two, two and a half, three,” said dad looking as proud as ever.

It was my eighteenth birthday, the one and only year that I finally would graduate from High School. The ecstatic moment when I get my diploma and the rush I would get from wanting to rapidly pursue my career. I knew that I’d surely get a scholarship in life science, all about animals. The one and only thing that blockaded my chances of having a future life was me having to suffer from diabetes and few heart problems. Other than that, I was in for all new surprises.

“Scarlett Perkins, would you now gracefully make your way up for your diploma.”

The principal of the school should’ve spoken louder so people could hear, but when I smiled, he got a warm feeling and smiled right back. I know I’m not supposed to make a speech or even say anything, but meaning I’m officially finished with high school and by law, allowed to live on my own, I thought I’d say something that my family would never forget.

“Thank you Principal Williams.” “I will always strive to improve on what I struggle with the most. I am proud of myself as an honor student and will always think positively. Whether it’s finding a cure for my heart problems, leaving my best friends behind to let them pursue their careers, or finding someone to love and to cherish for the rest of my life; preferably Jewish and good looking…

Audience laughs

“I will work up to my very best and even further if possible. Thank you all for your time.”

Audience claps and cheers me on.

“Well, time to go to sleep ladies and gentleman, as the day is officially now over.” “I’m really proud of you Scarlett. You sure have the guts to get up there and give a fantastic speech, you see, I have barely any guts left; kids beating me up in your grade, but overall, I’m good.”

All I could do at that point was listen and smile at his humorous jokes.

It was a long car ride home with the window ajar and my mom having to stop short at every yellow light. It is just her thing now a day’s. My brother, James, was wearing his usual, yet casual, short-sleeved shirt with coterie shorts.

I had to open the window fully as if the humidity increased
about ten percent in the last few minutes. My graduation gown made me sweat even more and feel much overheated. My mom was wearing her new, loose fitting blouse with jean shorts. I would have to admit, my dad looked rather cool with his dark shades on even though it looked as if it was impossible to see through them.

“I’m very proud of you Scarlett. Hey, who knew that such a bright girl could make a speech like that,” said dad.

“Thanks dad, it wasn’t that hard to make a speech like that. I was more excited then nervous,” I said.

“So Scar, who’s having this graduation party honey?” Said mom.

“Mom, it’s just going to be a party with my close friends and maybe a few kids from school. Jake said he might be able to come too.”

“Ooh, Scarlett and Jake…” said my brother.

“Are you really going to be that immature on my graduation day?”

My brother and I always end up arguing about something. James lay back, looking relaxed while listening to his I-pod.

We arrive home at about once thirty eager to see our grandparents whom we haven’t seen in ages. They were on my dad’s side of the family.

“Hey, what’s cooking mom, dad?” said Dad.

Mom and dad both walk over to greet grandma and grandpa as well as James and I.

“My James, you’ve gotten so tall since I last saw you. Oh, and older too”, said grandma.

“Yeah, I just turned fourteen a couple of months ago,” said James.

“And who have we here?” “Happy eighteenth birthday Scarlett.” said Grandma.

… My friends pick me up at about six at night. They are the kind of friends that you would call very fortunate. Chelsea’s car is a silver Honda that costs close to the amount of $20000. To tell the truth, I don’t know how and where she gets that kind of money from as only a teenager. I know only one thing; she doesn’t have a job yet.

I got my first and only job about a week ago at a pet shop explaining to people how to care for certain animals.

“Chelsea, how long is the party till?”

“Till around ten,” replied Chelsea.

“How many people are going to be there,” I asked.

“Don’t worry so much Scarlett; they’ll be about twenty of the people from school that we know.” Said Tory from the backseat of the car

“Okay, no more questions.” I said. “Party it up baby!”

Chelsea, Tory, Veronica and Katy all smile and laugh at my remark. I smile as well.

We all arrive at the party ten minutes later. She was right on account of about twenty other graduates from school there. After all, Chelsea’s house looked spectacular!

She had a sign with big letters saying, “We’re the 2005 graduates!” Boy I felt so proud of myself and for once, relaxed.

“So I think It’s really cool that you are interested in animals. I love that subject as well. Great speech Scarlett!” said a girl named Rachel from school

“Thanks a lot Rachel,” I replied as I went to get a cup of water.

Something slowly wrapped around me as I was pouring a glass of water.

“Whoa, you scared me there for a second.”

“I wouldn’t say that I’m that much of a creeper Scarlett,” replied Jake.

The DJ (graduate) started to play some popular, current music in which we could all dance to. I head with Jake to the center of Chelsea’s enormous living room to go and dance with everyone else. I knew Jake for a long time now and he definitely out danced everyone on the dance floor with his cool moves.

The music started to get so loud that I couldn’t hear myself talk or even think for that matter.

“Hey Katy and Veronica, I’m going to go outside for a little bit. Can you please tell Chelsea if you see her?” I said.

“What’d you say?” said Veronica in a loud tone.

“Never mind.” I replied.

I took a couple of steps, then straight to the ground while holding my chest. Jake ran over to me like lightening.

“Scarlett, are you okay?” “Scarlett, Scarlett, Scarlett!” cried Jake with fear in his eyes.

It eventually got to the point where I fully blanked out, not being able to hear or see a thing.

...When I woke up, I was a little scared and baffled as to where I was and what happened. I further noticed my mom and dad looking as nervous as ever by the look of their faces, and my boyfriend Jake coming towards me frantically.

“Oh, my God Scarlett, are you alright? You look so pale sweetheart,” said dad softly.

“What happened honey? Do you feel dizzy or motionless? Said mom extremely worried.

“Did I blank out or something? Oh, I feel so dizzy and I have a migraine.” I said helplessly.

I moaned hopelessly and tried falling back to sleep. That didn’t work because I also had another part of emotion on me and that was guilt. I felt terrible that I ruined the most important party of my life, and possibly, the last party I’ll ever go to.

“It’s going to be okay Scarlett. I’ll ask the doctor to give you some Advil for your headache and please try to get some rest. Try not to think about the pain in your chest.” said Jake.

I know he was trying to be nice to try and help me and cheer me up, but visualizing pain in my chest felt painful to me and I tried not to cry.

He smiled at me holding my hand. I smiled back at him hugely.

“I’ll be right back sweetie.”

About five minutes later, the doctor came to check up on me.

“Hello Scarlett; Mr. and Mrs. Perkins, I’m doctor Isenman.”

“Nice to meet you said dad.”

“I’m just going to ask you Scarlett, how much pain do you have from one to ten?” said the doctor.

“Eight, I replied without any enthusiasm; my head still on my pillow with my eyes shut.”

The doctor turned from having a smile to a serious frown. The doctor told me to drink a lot of water to prevent the suffrage of dehydration. Dr. Isenman also told me to take it easy and try to relax for the next couple of days. I vowed to take his advice because he was definitely right.

“Scarlett, you have a very high fever of 103.5. I want you to drink every cup of water to ease the fever.” said the doctor.

“Okay,” I said without lifting my head or opening my eyes.

As the doctor leaves, I see Jake coming back with Motrin in which he probably got from one of the nurses and an ice pack.

“Put this on your head scar to ease the fever.” said Jake.

“Thanks for staying with me Jake, but you don’t have to stay much longer. You should go home and rest.” I said.

“I want to stay with you though.

He paused.

“I don’t know if now would be a good time to tell you that I got a scholarship in football for the whole season; but, I did.” said Jake.

“Wow Jake, that’s amazing; very impressive. You’ll be the star quarterback.” I said.

“I hope so; thanks Scarlett, and one night in the hospital couldn’t hurt, right?” said Jake.

“Nope.”

… “How are you feeling baby?” said mom.

“It’s morning already, I’m feeling much, much, much better now!”

“That’s very, very, very great.” said dad.

Jake walks up to me with a grin on his face.

“So I heard you’re feeling better?” said Jake.

“Yeah, I’m feeling good.”

“So I was thinking, how about just you and I see your favorite singer, Billy Joel, in concert this Saturday.” said Jake.

He pulled out two tickets from his front pocket and my face enlightened greatly.

“Oh, my God! Are you serious? Thank you so much Jake! That sounds like a terrific idea! Thank you so much; this was so nice of you.” I said.

“You have to have some fun after a miserable; well half miserable birthday.” said Jake.

“You’re the nicest guy I ever met Jake.”

He leans in to give me a kiss on the cheek. We both smile and my parents, brother, Jake and I, walk out of the hospital very serene and calm.

The next day, I found myself working overtime in Joe’s Pet Shop. I was already used to all the animals there and treated them as if they were my own pets. One of the animals, a puppy, I had a very strong connection with and knew very well.

A lady walked in the pet shop with a girl that looked about my age, if not, older.

“Excuse me Scarlett, can I take out that puppy just to play with?” said the girl.

She scared me for a second when she called me by my name, but then I realized I had been wearing a nametag.

“Sure,” I said. “No problem.”

“Thanks, do you live around here?” she asked.

“Yeah, I live right near the mall. Michigan’s great.” I said.

“Yeah, I agree.

“Do you go to high school here?” I asked.

“That’s great; I just graduated from high school here about two days ago.”

“Wow, congrats! Oh, sorry; when I talk it can be forever. My name’s Amanda.” She said.

I laughed at the thought of her when I was the one who’d talk till sun down.

“So here’s our little puppy.”

Soft and not afraid, one who would strongly adore all thee who gave it no arm; all affection and this little puppy grew with happiness every time.

Five minutes later, my companion and I settled down on the smooth carpet, chatting intensely.  I nice, lonely girl she was, or assumed to be, and my companion and I went to extraordinary places; unforgettable times I shall cherish for the rest of my life. The park, where children jumping around of all sizes, smiled of the excitement, no stress, of their day. As I listened deeply to my companion, she had something wrong with her as well. Not just any sickness for that matter, diabetes, the poor thing suffered from. I now knew, my friend and I had much in common; she felt as a younger sister to me in a way; a good way.

… The next day, my lover, Jake and I were walking eagerly to the C.L.D.I. Stadium in Michigan.

“Are you excited Scarlett?” said Jake, nearly alarming me there.

“Yeah, definitely.” I responded with all emotions there.

On the way to the concert, I told him aout my friend and how she was like a close companion to me. She was a nice, clean girl with a bright future.

“This concert is amazing Jake!”

“What’d I tell you.” And to top it all off, front row seats.” said Jake trying to sound cool.

All of a sudden, right before my very eyes, the place turns pitch black, the lights flickering on and off; showing different colors all at once. This was something I wasn’t used to at all.

Jake started getting up and singing and dancing to the music. His dancing was cowardly, but his singing was reasonably good. He got me to my feet and started dancing with me when there were fun and slow songs.

Halfway through the concert I got a phone call from my friend. She sounded as if she couldn’t breathe the whole time. The words I could make out were “Can’t breathe… help and Joe’s Pet shop.

“I have to go Jake; I’m very sorry. Thank you for inviting me, but this is an emergency. Bye Jake.” I said quickly.

As I ran out of the stadium to my car, I drove my stick shift car with full speed ahead. Honking my horn to make cars go faster didn’t seem to work well, but I got there in less than ten minutes.

About fifty police cars were lined up near the pet store. The sound of sirens of a police car going off gave me butterflies. And, right before my eyes lay my companion dead on the ground. In total shock I was, having chills at the moment. Amanda’s parents were crying while their dearest daughter had been taken to the hospital. I knew right then and there… She wasn’t coming back. My good friend, my nicest friend, had died before my eyes and she wasn’t coming back.

… At the hospital, I viewed nurses and doctors trying to pump her chest with air and taking her blood pressure. Everything was spinning inside my head and I didn’t know what to say.

… There was no pulse, the doctor told her parents as I was praying for her. My friend, Amanda, had done nothing wrong to deserve this. Luckily, God spared my life, yet, there was nothing to be done to spare my friend’s life.

“Aberration”
Shari Forman Feb 2013
You were once something believable,
Who had empathy towards many,
Who could sympathize with the less fortunate,
One who taught legendary morals in life.

You were once brilliant,
Who always helped and never hindered,
You were once blessed by sacred God to become desirable,
Until you had excessive desires for illusions.

You were once goal oriented,
Until you become a monster for all the wrong reasons,
You were incapable  of handling peer pressure of tons in need,
And became Psychotic over your own thoughts.

You were once baffled by your own thoughts,
Yet now there is no path to take home,
You’ve entered penalty and death,
There’s not a word to help.

You were once a leader,
Fearless and brave,
Who took a turn in following the path of your gut,
Saying you couldn’t help thee anymore.

You were once a legend of excitement,
Who later should’ve followed your heart,
For you knew all along what was right,
But fooled by mental agony and torture.

A big transition happened one night that made the old man tear to pieces…

“Well, you’ve done it again Harry, except you’ve shocked both of us. Why do you do these things Harry? I assume you like to embarrass me a whole lot!” said Susan (wife of old man Harry)

“My dear Susan, please don’t get frustrated with me, for I have done no such crime to deserve this,” replied Harry.

Susan pauses for a second to calculate what her husband, Harry, had just said. When she does, she narrows her eyes and points her finger at him.

“You are a fool of a husband, wearing suits and tuxedos out to libraries, animal shelters, parks. What a coward you are! Just because money is our main priority in this household, doesn’t mean you should go around bragging about how wealthy we are!” yelled Susan.

“But getting dressed up is what I love to do. It’s not as exciting to wear just a plain sweater with a pair of jeans Susan,” said Harry trying to make a point.

“If that’s the way you would like to be, then I’m not a part of it anymore Harry… Goodbye Harry,” said Susan.

The foolish man’s sixty-year-old mouth dropped as the love of his life, Susan, slammed the front door and wasn’t coming back.

… The minutes later, the old man’s son walks into the house. He looks very bubbly and eager to say something. However, before the son could say a word, the old man talks right away.

“She’s gone Tom; your mother has moved out for good,” said Harry.

“Oh, no dad. You two got into another argument again?” said the son (Tom).

“Yes my son. Your mother always… seems to start bickering with me about something, and this time, it was based on my dressing in public,” said Harry.

“I can’t take this anymore dad! I’m not married, don’t even have a girlfriend, and now don’t even have a mother to live with,” said Tom.

The poor, lonely son starts looking very upset and begins to cry. The foolish man begins to tear a little as well.

“If mom really loved and supported us, she wouldn’t have left,” said the son.

“That’s enough Tom! You’re thirty-two years old now; that doesn’t give you the right to cry like a baby! It’s over son; life moves on,” said Harry

All of a sudden, the depressed son ran out of the house as fast as he could, being only in his shirt, pants and dress shoes. He was already on the third block when Harry called him.

“Get back here young man! Please Tom, please!” cried the poor man.

The sixty-year-old man ran as fast as he could to his son. He kept running for as long as he could, and when he reached his son, he followed him up to the nearest train station. The foolish man had no clue of where son might be headed to on a train.

“Don’t you use your head boy? Where are you headed to?” said Harry.

“I don’t know father; I just needed to get out of the house to be alone. I don’t need you in my life anymore dad,” said the son.

“Tom; Tom look at me! I don’t want to lose my son, for I’ve already lost my wife. I love you very much Tom, just remember that please.

“I love you too dad and I’ll try to show it much more often,” said the son.

Harry puts his arm around his sons shoulder and smiles warmly to him with tears of happiness in his eyes.

“Lets get off this train Tom; what do you say? Asked Harry

“Alright dad,” said Tom.

At that very moment, the train began to move; move rather quickly.

“Tom, you’re in big trouble… Nah, just joking. Would you like to tell me of where you are planning to go to though?” said Harry

“Manhattan,” said the son.

Tom smiled and his dad looked a little baffled.

“Tom, why don’t you tell me about the good news you had before,” said Harry, suddenly changing the topic.

“Sure. I got a new job working at the docks and am actually making higher profits now,” said Tom.

“I’m very proud of you son. How are the docks treating you?” asked Harry.

“I love the docks. I enjoy working on the docks and appreciate what God has to offer for me,” replied Tom.

“And what is the quantity of hours you’ll be working for?” asked Harry.

“Forty hours a week dad,” said Tom.

“Phenomenal,” said Harry. “That’ll keep you occupied.”

When the train moves around the waiting area outside a little bit, the prettiest girl walks on the train. She looks as if she’s in her late twenties with dark-brown curly hair and brown eyes to match. She takes a seat two rows in front of Harry and Tom.

“Dad, did you see that girl?” asked Tom.

“Yeah boy, she looks single to me,” said Harry.

Harry giggles and Tom elbows him right in the gut.

“Owww!” Harry managed to say through his non- stop laughing.

The girl was reading the newspaper from today while Tom tried to occupy himself by spinning a quarter several times.

The next hour had passed on the train and they had a long way to go until their stop. Tom looks at his watch as he sees that it is exactly five in the morning.

“Harry. Harry,” Tom whispers. “Harry,” he said a little bit louder.

Tom began to get a little frustrated that Harry wasn’t waking up. Mostly everyone was fast asleep on the train except for Tom.

“HARRY!” Tom yelled as loud as he could.

All of a sudden, all of the passengers on the train woke up startled and baffled.

“Tom, what the hell was that?” said Harry.

“I have a problem,” said Tom

“Tom, this is pure abuse that you’re giving me. Firstly, you knock the guts right out of my stomach, and then you yell as loud as a trumpet blown right in someone’s ear! Was it necessary to wake up the whole train?” said Harry.

“Yes because I really like this girl, you know the one you called single. What should I do?” asked Tom.

“Can you lower the volume a little? Okay; here’s my advice… propose to her,” said Harry as he went back to sleep.

“Great advice; I’ll take it,” said Tom sarcastically.

Before Harry and Tom got a chance to walk off the train, Tom stopped to introduce himself to the beautiful girl. As he was talking, she thought of him as rather funny than cool, but offered her cell phone number to him.

“What’s your name?” asked Tom.

“Victoria,” replied the girl.

The foolish man felt so insane as if to go on a train unexpectedly.

“Well, here we are dad,” said Tom.

“Now we’re going to have to check into a hotel for three days; for that’s how long we have to stay here until the next train home.” Said Harry

When they arrived at the hotel, both Harry and Tom rented a small room that cost fifty dollars a night.

“This is a really old room, but it’ll have to do,” said Harry.

“There are cobwebs over here in the bedroom beside the lamp,” said Tom.

“Since we’re staying here for three nights Tom, we’re going to have to go shopping at some point, so why now?” said the foolish man.

“Father, why would you go and buy some more fancy clothes, when Susan already told you that you looked foolish in it?” said the son.

“I hate to break it to you son, but the coward is gone, and the new ***** has arrived!” said Harry.

Tom could not believe what his dad had just said. He formed the biggest smile on his face.

“That’s very impressive dad; I’m sure mom would really appreciate that,” said Tom.

“I bet she would’ve,” said Harry giving a small frown.

Harry and his son, Tom were out of the hotel within ten minutes. The store in which they were headed to was only a few blocks from where they were. The store in the mall in which Harry and Tom were walking to was called, “Sarah’s Sweaters.”

Harry was not at all tempted to walk in the store, but with the help of his son making him go in, he had no choice.

“What a grotesque place Tom,” said Harry

“Relax and try on something that suits you best here,” said Tom

“I don’t like anything here. Sorry, but I loathe these kinds of stores,” replied the foolish man.

Tom rolled his eyes and began trying on jeans and a couple of sweaters to wear over polo shirts.

Harry stared at Tom speechless as he came out of the fitting room. Tom brought the clothes up to the woman at the cash register while Harry started looking at clothes for himself.

“Your total is $62.49 sir,” said the woman.

“Thank you,” said Tom as he walked away with his clothes.

The foolish man went to go try on two pairs on jeans with two sweatshirts and three polo shirts. He opens the curtain.

“It fits you well,” said Tom.

“I’ll do whatever makes my wife happy,” said Harry.

“Oh, c’mon; change is good too.”

They walked out of the clothing store carrying two large white bags filled with casual clothes. As they were walking in the mall, Harry notices a Calvin Klein store with all different styles of ties, shirts, suits, and dress shoes through the glass window.

“Tom, I’ll just be a minute,” said Harry.

“You said that you weren’t going to buy anything fancy while we’re here dad,” said Tom.

“I’ll just get a suit; I’ll be in and out within five minutes.”

“Alright, I’ll be waiting on the bench outside the store,” said Tom”

“Okay Tom.”

An hour and a half later, Harry comes out of the store with a tired, yet warm smile on his face.

“You’re back so soon,” said Tom sarcastically.

“There was a long line Tom. Hey, I went in your store.” said Harry

“For a half hour.”

“Oh, well then I apologize,” said Harry.

“It’s fine.”

“Here, I’ll make it up to you; we’ll go pick up something to eat for dinner,” said Harry.

“Okay, thanks dad.”

We both smile simultaneously.

Harry and Tom exit the mall to go and walk to the deli to get some sandwiches, a snack and a drink. When they arrive home, they turn on the T.V. to watch some comedy shows while eating their sandwiches. Tim lies down and kicks his shoes off. The foolish man was sitting at the edge of the couch now with his son’s ***** feet on him. While Tom looked very relaxed and comfortable eating his chicken sandwich, Harry looked very tense as he was giving his son a cold look.

“Get your gigantic, filthy feet off of my upper thigh,” said Harry annoyed.

“Oh, sorry dad,” said Tom surprised.

Harry looked at the T.V. eating his sandwich while Tom smiled a little from his comment before.

Harry and Tom didn’t do much for the next two days. They walked around a little and saw many people walking their dogs. Both Harry and Tom ate two meals a day in their hotel and slept on the uncomfortable couch. Harry figured he’d wear his sweater and jeans with sneakers on the third day of his stay. He was going to the park this morning and he certainly didn’t want to look foolish.

“What a nice day out today Tom. Not too hot, not too cold, but perfect weather,” said Harry.

“Yes, I agree,” said Tom.

The man and his son walked along the walkway in the park, leading to a playground filled with little kids, elders and parents sitting on benches or walking around. As Harry and Tom sat down on a bench next to a water fountain, Harry couldn’t believe his eyes.

“Susan, is that you? Asked Harry shocked.

“Oh, hello Harry,” she said without looking up.

“Nice seeing you here Susan,” said Harry.

Susan looked up from reading her enormous book and saw something unexpected about the foolish man.

“Oh, Harry, you’ve changed; changed for me. You are the sweetest husband and you’re not at all foolish,” said Susan full of excitement.

Harry smiled and gave Susan a big hug.

“Tom, love you son,” said Susan.

“I love you very much as well mom,” replied Tom.

After Harry checked out of their room, they all were headed to the next train home.

As Harry, Susan and Tom walked into their mansion in Michigan, Susan asked what Harry was holding.

Harry blushed and said, “Just clothes.”

“Can I see them Harry? asked Susan.

“They’re not that clean.”

Susan took the bag from him and looked inside.

“Not again,” said Tom.

Susan laughed on account of her already knowing that her husband couldn’t keep his eyes off of nice and fancy clothes for a minute.

“Harry…you’re one fastidious gentleman.”

Part 2: “My Nightmare”
Shari Forman Feb 2013
It was 5:30 in the morning,
And I couldn’t fall back to sleep,
So I went downstairs to wake my mom,
And didn’t dare to make a peep.
When I arrived downstairs,
My mom wasn’t there,
I got really nervous now,
As I yelled, “mom”, in mid air.
I ran straight to the kitchen,
And turned on the light,
I spotted a big, wild dog,
Looking at me as if to fight.
I screamed at the top of my lungs,
Which looked ready to pop,
As I ran for my life,
I fell straight to a plop.
When I got up as fast as lightning,
I ran to open the back door,
The dog then charged,
With a ferocious loud roar.
I locked the door very obediently,
Trying not to collapse again,
I started to breathe hard and heavy,
As from outside it started to rain.
I sat down very slowly
Wondering where my mother was,
Also thinking about that animal,
And how it got inside here,
It smells really bad still,
It really does.
I sprinted back into the kitchen,
And noticed a dead body on the floor,
Oh my G-d it was my mother,
This was such horror.
My face couldn’t budge,
My body was still,
My mouth was wide open,
That repulsive dog did ****!
“Mom, mom,” I yelled in horror,
Until I actually saw her face,
I realized it wasn’t her,
What a disgrace!
Out of the ordinary,
Her eyes appeared alive and met mine,
Then she quickly got up and kept to her strive.
She was a very ugly woman,
Yet very old looking and gray,
But she looked loving and friendly,
Oh this was the strangest day!
When all of a sudden.
Her eyes turned the color red,
As she turned from loving to frightening,
I then realized that she couldn’t be dead.
The frightening creature then took me by the shirt,
And thoroughly taped me against the wall,
I almost had a heart attack,
But at least now I actually looked tall.
She then yelled, “Don’t you move now,”
And walked to find more tape,
She had pinned me up so fast,
I thought that would be the last.
When she came back absolutely furious,
I struggled to get out,
But she then tape me up again,
Boy I had so much doubt.
Just at that very moment,
The strangest looking man had walked in,
He stared at me in horror,
As I began to realize he was made of human and tin.
That was the man in my nightmare,
The one who strangely backed away,
He was the one who had owned the vile creatures,
And had always made them stay.
As now the two hideous creatures,
Started coming towards me,
I tried to say what I said in my nightmare,
“Please let me free!”
But it did not work this time,
And I thought they were going to ****,
I said my last sins all at once,
As I was standing nervous but still.
I took a quick glance at the clock,
And read that it was already 7:50a.m.,
So I struggled with all my might,
To get down from this wall.
Today was the first day of school,
And I knew I wasn’t going to make it,
I then saw what they were holding,
It was a match that they lit.
They lit the fire on my shirt,
And I began to shout again,
“Let me free,”
As I began a slow death about.
Just then,
I awoke burning hot,
I remembered I was sick today,
So I lay there mutinously,
As I enjoyed my horrible day.

“My Nightmare”
Shari Forman Feb 2013
I went straight to sleep,
My mood,
In good shape,
When all of a sudden,
I had just looked at an ape!
He was about to scratch me,
When I pulled my arm away,
Out of the ordinary,
I had heard the sound,
Nayyy!
It was a horse,
He was going to fall on me,
I had just moved away,
I had shouted out,
“Let me be”!
A man had dropped in,
Smiling in horror,
He had strangely backed away,
Going farther and farther.
Just then,
A tiger jumped in,
He growled at me,
And had bitten me,
Just like a sharp pin.
         “Ouch”!
Some singer from the dead,
Had somehow made me sing,
I now had had her voice,
And it was definitely,
Not a choice.
When suddenly,
There was music,
That blew an eardrum out,
I had felt dead right now,
And had just wanted to shout!
Two identical monsters,
Air standing on my dressers,
All this was stirring,
In my brain,
And I had to let out,
All of the pain.
I had began crying,
And ran--- fast,
When suddenly,
A snake gave me a span.
The snake was made with poison,
And was about to bite me,
When I had yelled,
“Let me free!”
I had awoken,
With a bruised knee.
I had remembered at school,
I had fell
But was no serious injury,
I could compel.
I was relieved,
Yet mainly scared,
What I had just flashed back,
Was a horror nightmare.

On a summer morning,
Monkey had awoken early,
His eyes all sleepy,
And his hair wildly curly.
Swoosh,
He opened the door,
He had to use his mouth,
Because his tail was way too sore.
  Slam,
Monkey shut the door behind him,
His friend Panda,
Was called hungry, hungry Jim.
Monkey was off to work,
His tail dragging on the floor,
He was sure to be back in time,
To feed his family of four.
Although monkey was guilty,
He missed work twice,
Monkey was confidently sure,
His boss would be all nice.
Monkey had walked to the glass,
It said no dogs allowed,
For sure he was a monkey,
He walked in and proudly bowed.
His boss said he had to leave,
For he was not a monkey,
But monkey had explained,
He was very chunky.
The boss escorted his out,
Angry as could be,
For sure he was a monkey,
Can’t his work boss see?
He decided to go food shopping,
At the nearest grocery store,
He wanted to get home quickly,
So his family wouldn’t be that poor.
Monkey walked to the grocery store,
His feet were aching,
It was 10 miles away,
This was a big risk that he was taking.
Monkey got there very fast,
Quick as in running,
It said only monkeys allowed,
Wow that sign was stunning!
Monkey had barged in,
All the monkeys were looking at him,
He was told to get out,
So then he visited his old friend,
Hungry, hungry Jim.
When monkey had arrived,
Jim had told him he was a dog,
So Monkey left ashamed,
In the new deep fog.
Monkey had decided to go home,
And Comfort his 3 young ones,
He’d see his wife,
Oh, he loved them all a ton.
Hungry, Hungry Jim smiled,
As if he was really, really bad,
He decided not to eat him today,
He saw him so sad.
Monkey’s house
Was just around the corner,
It was a pretty color white,
But most of the time,
There was not much light.
He had opened his house door,
So lonely and ashamed,
He was a monkey,
He had claimed.
Monkey flickered on the light,
Nobody was there,
His wife and kids left him a note,
“You are a dog, we could not bear”.
Monkey was so depressed now,
He walked to hungry, hungry Jim’s house
He had tiptoed in,
And was as quiet as a mouse.
Jim had caught him,
And asked why he was not home,
Monkey had explained,
His house is just a comb.
Monkey said his family had left him,
Because he was a dog,
They think I don’t belong,
And am just a plain old hog.
All of a sudden,
The panda ate him whole,
And the only thing that was left,
Was his sad little soul.

"Fanaticism"
Shari Forman Feb 2013
Your strong belief in nature,
Is too detrimental for my taste.

The deep feelings you have,
Compresses and destroys nature.

The eerie emotions you have pertaining to the outdoors,
Helpless and closed shut is nature.

You make every day life unbearable,
With expressing your opinion about nature.

People become humble and lifeless,
For you are sadly not compatible with nature.

"I hate him"
Shari Forman Feb 2013
I hate him more than hell,
He's psychotic and always yells.
I can never impress him in any way,
He's bitter every day.
I hate him for not caring for me,
For not giving me a chance to be free.
I'm trapped inside his rules,
O thank God I changed schools.
I couldn't bear living another day in this house,
I feel as weak as a mouse.
I'm sick of him,
As simple as that,
He never gets along with me,
And that's a fact.
It's all pretend,
You see,
He is omnipotent only,
Just let me be.
Every day gone by,
I see him and cry.
Our relationship has drowned,
He's disappointed in me,
I've found.
I feel like I'm the one to blame,
Throughout this everlasting game.

"Why?"
Shari Forman Feb 2013
I saw you lying motionlessly on the hospital bed,
Why couldn't you have me there instead!
My heart spoke a thousand words that day,
Hoping it would make your pain go away.
How can my heart feel so hurt,
I feel like you left me stranded, in the dirt.
Something feels incomplete for me,
I'm heartbroken, you see.
Why did you suddenly have to go,
Yet suffered so much pain, much too slow.
Where did you go,
How will I know?
You were fine when I was there for you,
But when I left, it couldn't be true...
You will never know,
How much I've loved you so.
We didn't see each other much,
But we always kept in touch.
You will never understand,
I can't even even hold your hand.
I can't make your heart warmer today,
Because you disappeared in the mist of day.
I don't understand...
I will never understand...
But at least you are no longer in pain,
Yet I will never see you again.
You changed my life forever,
You were the sweetest grandma ever.
I feel the need to run,
Now that your pain is done.
I loved you more than anything from the start,
For you have been something really special,
Deep inside in my heart.

RIP Grandma <3
