She Knew
Jon York Jan 2012
She knew me,
from my words and able
to feel my pain that was crouched
in widom and carefully hidden
but nevertheless sometimes I feel
the echoe of old hurts
whispering across my mind
passing like shadows
across my spirit.

I am deeply touched
by her need to heal and soothe
with loves tender touch
and sometimes I feel
as though I do not choose it
but rather it chooses me!

I am helpless to do
anything other than to
let it wash across
my soul.

My heart weeps
and tears flow freely
to mend the wound
and to let joy come
once more
and I can only rest
when I know
that there is peace.

These are only words,
but words are
all I have to take
her heart away.        Jon York     2012
..........PATH OF LEARNING..........
In dark we are born,
to behold the new light,in dark we trode,
Till we know light to our paths.
From the moral guidance set to accompany us,
from our Parents leading paths,
little by little we are held
by arms to the field of gatherings.
Painfully,it seems to us on start,
for we know not it
pleasures and values untold!
With our peers we echoed in one tone,
A,!B!,!C,D!.
1,!2!,3!,4!.
Until Apple taught us the value of A.
Then B,tells us of a circuler object called ball.
Until C,gives us cup for drinking
And D,tells us of an Animal friend called dog,
with all the gatherings from our homes,
and from the fields of learning,
we've all come to know the value of life.
I love to learn!
I love to learn!
For in learning i've known the light,
i've seen knowledge!
I've known widom.
For in wisdom
I've learned to number my days.
Teach me to learn!
Teach me to read!
Teach me to write!
For in this path i love to go.

Dr. Betty Shabazz, Widom of Malcolm X
I had the honor and pleasure to have Dr. Shabazz as a Health Class Professor at
CUNY MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE in Brooklyn, New York
Dr. Shabazz, a name known throughout the world
Determined in all her pursuits
Civil Rights was a commitment alongside her alive husband then Malcolm X
Devotion in spirit in contributing change that followed Dr. Shabazz entire life
Being Black and a woman, but was standing for all women regardless of race
Achiever being a believer
Leader within her own right
Discrimination just made Dr. Shabazz more focused with a Civil Rights mission at hand
Dr. Shabazz wanted to break the chains of stereotypes and accept a person among those being a women
She observed in her eyes in what society was doing to all people of color
Dr. Shabazz educated herself through higher learning and worked within the Health Care Industry as an RN then as she worked became a Tenure Professor at CUNY Medgar Evers College
Because she was part of the Muhammad Faith didn’t make her commitment any easier, but more determined in the change movement of Civil Rights
Her detours were like she was drowning in a sea, but always managed to surface to the top in what Dr. Shabazz was determined to accomplish
Turmoil through the endless fires of her life
