My ID Badge

My ID badge has a photo of me in my prime...
15 years (or more) ago.
My ID badge shows me up all the time,
"When was that taken? You've filled out a bit!".
But the photo was just a snapshot of my life.
An obsessive runner at the time,
Having shed a lot of weight that had clung on for years...
Weight that had hindered my youth.
My ID badge is a badge of honour.
My ID badge is a hindrance.
My ID badge is a constant reminder that I've let myself go...again.
My ID badge cannot be updated due to bureaucracy!

i was born with a scent
of wild flowers in the air,
the smell of wood-fires,
and the cooking ***
I was born to be proud
of the blacked badge
of my skin.
my first tears flowed
from the sting of smoke
from the pain of the thorns
in my naked small feet.
How i hated , at first
the long hours, herding cattles
Shift_But i loved the hills
And the river-when it gave me fish!
i learned to listen
To the song of birds
To watch the colours
of down and sunset
I learn to love
The land that gave me
my own black badge
The badge of Africa

Sworn to serve and protect is apart of your job.
But remember you under the eyes of others in society.
Who might not see the justice that the badge and gun brings?
One bad decision places pressure upon many.
And you're required to comprehend this.
Cause you have a badge and a gun.
And your decision harms everyone.
If by quick judgement you pull the trigger.
And someone dies from it.
Most will look at the badge and the gun.
Saying , "I fear for my life" works in the eyes of a bias jury.
Who all honestly always side with the one wearing the badge and the gun.
But realize there will come a day.
When true justice will change everything.
Lest, we hope before revenge is turn on those wearing the badge and the gun.
But remember you under the eyes of others in society.
