I want to show you all my favorite songs, the
ones that are sad and slow.
I want to hear your voice sing along, the
way you speak, soft and low.
I want to see your eyes when I close mine
And remember the shiver tolling down my
spine.
I need to remember all the moments when
you said that you were mine.

You said you like when people snore
because it reminds you that someones
there when you're sleepless at night,
And I didn't know this then but that was the
first time you told me something about those demons
and you didn't know this then but that was the first time I closed
my eyes and saw you between my sheets.

A Thief In the Night
Sarah Allyson Jul 2015
Here a labored writer sits
On a porch without a light
Sipping on empty wine glasses
And thieving from the night

I’ll take the star from the dark
I’ll steal that ghostly chill
I’ll even think the thoughts you’ve thunk,
(Especially the ones you ****)

I’ll creep inside the books you wrote,
(The quiet thoughts you’ve found)
I’ll lift the words right off your lips,
Steal the secrets of the sound

I’ll read the lines you wrote
(In a low yet steady mumble)
Then I’ll spew your thunder,
With no credit to your rumble

And from the shadows edges
With their crisp yet subtle blur
I’ll trace my fingers round until
I see their insides stir

So when your train goes off
And disintegrates in your head
Know it was not a fleeting thought,
Just a gaunt thief getting fed.

WHEN I KNEW IT WASN’T LOVE
While walking through Montmartre,
And only thinking about two
Is when I realized Paris was
Waiting for me at home with you

When I spent the day—
Preoccupied by your skin
And it’s sweet over side.

When you spent it bored—
And soaking in cigarettes
Leaving questions in the tide.

When on the train
You took the window seat
And said it was beautiful

When I sat by the aisle
Because you were my window
And to me the world was dull

When I paused to let you walk first.
When you quickened your step
Because you knew I would.

HOROSCOPE COPEING
Sarah Allyson Jul 2015
When I read my horoscope I’ll read yours too and find out if it’ll be me you’ll need at night. And when I check the weather, I’ll check your towns first. And if the sky is soon to storm, think of me with you. You’ve always loved storms and I love the way you look watching from the front porch step, wrapped in a blanket, just enjoying the show. I remember when you said thunder helps you sleep at night because it’s louder than the silence. So when you’re wrestling and restless, I’ll be standing under the water in a town away from yours. I’ll turn the water cold and wrap myself in arms. I’ll turn off the lights and squeeze my eyes tight and when you hear the thunder smash it’ll be my heart pounding out of my chest and when you see the lightening crash it’ll be me gasping for my breath and you’ll revel under the weight of the sky. I’ll send you storms at night and show you how loud love can be and you can watch as I unfold the sky from three hundred miles away in a room too small to hold me.
