Marian
I love you dearly,
But Daddy's day comes only yearly,
I wish it would come more often;
You are so tender hearted an softened.

You are so sweet,
You are (as the old saying goes) clean, neat and sweet,
And you have never met defeat!
Keep on in your Christian life,
And you won't meet strife!

~Marian~
For my Daddy.
this swirling roaring wind that blows homeward from the sea
saltiness with eucalyptus blending in twisting my fear
the knots in my chest and stomach entangling
                                                      deadly mocktail of emotions surging
                                                          with every  howling whoosh
a new green life falls breaking
                                                                              life prematurely ending
                                                                                 storm violently shaking
                                                                                    every limb of every tree
                                                                        an attempt to blow anxiety
                                                                        into each living breath
                                                                                 a drenched vision
                                                                                     of a couple of crows
                                                                                   seemingly meditating
in the midst of the tempest
                                                                     holding their own
                                                                                in the eye
                                                                                of the storm
                                                                                  they find
                                                                                     Peace

my city Chennai experienced the effect of Cyclone Nilam which hit the south-east coast of India yesterday. No major damage done in the city though. 1 person has been reported dead and 5 missing at sea. My prayers go out to them , and to those affected by Sandy as well.
i wish the world would forget me
melding into my mini-universe
amidst wispy clumps of trees
reassuring mountain peaks
silver-green and green gold glistening in the sun
pink tipped still life cavorting with the breeze
even a dead tree looks alive, standing alone
within this sea of brightened vigour
mists roll over the mountains
we roll over the mists
watching sleepy-headed flowers stir awake
as if woken by some gentler spirit
i trace strawberry hearts on your skin
these shameless carnations,
they flaunt their crimson mouths
drawing in for a kiss

thankless stars
crowd around my palm
scratching my fate within the lines?
the light of the truth blinds them
they believe it to be theirs

my deeds create the lines
which whisper to the stars
the secrets to my destiny

inkhearts  - joined by a love of rhyme
multi coloured pearls on guitar strings

melodies unraveling
whispered confidences sung aloud
revealing the gifts inside
glad I am to be the receiver

For Sneha Iyer, a sister who was found and lost (though in my heart she was never missing), and is now found again
For Ammukutty and Mae
For all the women on HP. May the Sisterhood forever swell!
gently bid the night  goodbye
it nourishes no more
the unblinking stare of the stars
no match for my candlelight
wakefulness is more coveted
as everyone else dozes
pieces of calm snatched away
from a world that eschews it
in silky silver voice i sing
lullabies to the waves
the sand gets between my toes
soft and grainy roses
the wakefulness that comes now
has white metallic motifs
shimmering away
mother of pearl
lights the road
across the ocean

is there a word in your mind
that you'd like to give to me?

a word for me to take to bed
as i spend a sleepless night?

a word for me to cook up
to create some food for thought?

words for me to string together
yours and mine welded in the fire

What delightful alchemy this
this metamorphosis of a dream
a condition like an apsiopesis
which assumes I will be back
I inhale the fragrance of this ink
and exhale it as wine
it gives a nice toast
to our love
soaring like a lammergeier
Well in the throes of passion,
it splinters into a flower
the omphalos of which
is a moment awake
beyond rest or relaxation
may we be together forever

In my last poem, I has asked you'll to gift me words that I could link together into a poem. The poem above is the result of the gifts that were given. The Givers and the gifts are listed below.  I understand that some were not really intended as a "gift", but I' a rather greedy person! :) Thank you for these wonderful gifts and for the inspiration!

David : Delightful!
Mae: fragrance, inhale, exhale, dream, awake, moment, beyond, alchemy
Linda – rest
Sneha – condition
Embers – metamorphosis
the undead faerie girl – passion, apsiopesis
vircapio – omphalos
martin – well
Aditya – wine , love, flower, ink
Shaqila – love, I will be back, lammergeier, together forever
Jerry – nice
my subconscious writes me letters
gentle urgings -
from that deepest space
where dreams go to rest
and fears go to hide
little fragments of inspiration
that dance provocatively
only to vanish
when i rise from my stupor
little ghosts of memories past
present and future
bound up together
as unfailing reminders
that wherever i go
i will always be me
