By paper-lantern light

flames colour a snow crystals dance, beautifully enchanting, to

the distant sound of singing; Joyous songs of celebration, lulling all in revelry. Each note heard

in silent reverence, beneath the skeletal canopy of majestic oak spread. Where from amongst the

damp branches, wise old saucer eyes calls "Ubi? Ubi?", heralding a cacophony of wide-eyed whispers

This afternoon, sweet twilight guides our paths as we search on ever onward journeys unknown; Our

arms collecting firewood, to fill the empty hearths of others. Unaware of the cold hands, we are, when

there's such warmth in our hearts. We toil within the stillness, snow falling softly, and covering the

crisp ground. From deep beneath the dazzling pure white, tiny hibernating animists

blink wide from the                               warmth of hidden

woodland beds.                        Gently,
   sweep the                   12 droplets
of ice from                 all our eyes, Sol,
                             as we cough        darkness
                     from our      lungs,
                       watching the sparkles     of no
                      matter,  floating
in the  paper-
            lantern light
       to scatter across
this   Solstice   sky,
illuminating our fates,
as cold  snowflake hearts
twinkle like falling stars, unseen,
turning, embracing the return of the Light
was a bit hot in somerset today
i sweat
cool breeze off the beach
into the shop
it rains
flowers bloom
men sigh
i cry
Would you stop for a minute
and lie down by my side,
look up at the stars with me
beneath this blue night sky?

Would you tell me your story
your secrets and your fears
and trust me to keep them safely
as we peel away the layers?

Would you take me as I am
hurts and tears and all?
and seal each scar with a kiss
help me stand up when I fall?

Would you hold my hand and walk with me?
I’ll stay forever by your side
dance together to some private melody
forgetting the passage of time?

Would you believe me when I say
that I’ll catch you when you stumble?
I’ll never let you fall
won’t let our world crumble?

Would you let me
lean on you when I’m tired?
and protect me from harm
so not even death can tear us apart?

See,  Buddha in a  a rose,
find a child indeed is smile,
a smiling rose
when one converges with both.
what is this thing
that resides in our silences
threatening to reveal all
in that brief fearful moment
before the curtain falls?
a monstrous beast be it
like the one that the Grimms described
gentle in its grotesquness
it leaves its trace behind.
this paradoxical distance
becomes longer with each word spoken
like a mobius strip
twisted within itself
it leaves me craving for closure
Schrödinger’s cat I am
neither built nor broken
