Tall oaks implore us to reach for the sky
To bathe 'neath the moon on starry nights
To ponder life in magical arbors
To sue for peace within the midnight forest* ...

I-85 South .. Coweta County , Georgia ..
I forfeit my troubled mind -
before brown pelicans skimming the -
sea
In the name of sand pipers that toil along a white sugar
beach
To ships on the horizon
To miraculous tranquil blue ocean surrounding -
thoughts bitter island* .....

Night is a grand repository
Where the sheltered temporarily-
leave their hideouts , where the oppressed
find solace , where the voiceless shout
out loud
A place where the beleaguered
hold their ground , where revolutionaries
demand justice , where the homeless quietly
forage
Where the insane are neglected , where
the elderly are unprotected
Where Americas repetitive urban warfare
proceeds , where blood pools on darkened
streets* ...

A white oak crowned in gold
Fragments of blue , tuscany sun and
woodland coal
The chill of October searching for exposed skin
Wind whispered nightfall , a shower of
young stars and hickory mannequins , crackling
leaves , wind racked tin and tinkling chimes ,
the creak of the 'vane', owls in flight
Burning leaves , moonlight captivation ,
the taste of dead ripe persimmons , ghostly-                   antebellum mansions
A bustling Family Dollar , a corner gas station ,
a stray along the tracks , a Ford F-150 with a double
gun rack
Bud Lite for rednecks and Slim-Fast for **** heads
Soco for alkies , wine coolers for purebreds
An empty park , a swing without a rider ,
a waitress takes a break in front of her empty diner* ...
