I am retooling myself
Into the man, who honors integrity with daily exercise,
Into the words of a poem, a new stanza added daily,
Into the notes of a song, yet to be complete,
Into the symphony p, a theme that lifts, soaring above the commonplace,
Into the jewel multifaceted,  colors deep and husky,
Into the essences of love, always learning, dispensing hatefulness,
Into the fury of a great warrior ennobled with heroism,
Into the dexterity of fingers that dispense living kindness,
Into the vibrancy of an orchid, born from tiny seed and falls soil,
Into the vessel science and technology constantly reforms, evolute,
Into the words of a book before his eyes, before closing time, clutched with purebred pride.

grilled stamina spiced with arrogance
marinated egos in bitter gall source
a touch of pickled common pride
a suggestion of mashed personality
served generously with indifference
on a platter of wonderful ignominy
going like hot cakes in these sad days
of lies emblazoned against night skies
hurry my man while stocks last
and before the merchants of doom
begin their desperate auctions of ethics
done with cynical glee and callousness
held together by a spread of mediocrity

I don't think people get it
they don't understand their own nature
see themselves in the mirror
but they can't really picture this

what if I told you your beautiful
honestly
you would say thank you
but would you believe me

you see
society has a thing with low self esteem
we make ourselves shine and gleam
but don't believe a word we are saying

hypocrites
we say everyone is beautiful
yet hate our reflections
people just don't get it

I've been saying this for years yet no one understands it
do you get it?
does anyone understand this?
hating yourself isn't a trend
its a plague
and we are all slowly dying
hoping for someone to cure us
but we wont even admit we are sick

do you get it?
I need society to get it
because our downfall is not going to be pretty
do you understand this?
if i said you where beautiful
would you get it?

My words are but a shooting star
To be seen in all its glory
But as shooting stars fade in an instant
So do my words to be read once
Then fade into obscurity

There are two types of people we all need
Someone to make us smile
And somone to remind us to cry
