I don't know why I
Have this constant itch to express myself
When actually I'm unaware of
What exactly it is that
I want to *say

Return she will
As the evening draws nigh
For now, Mama Bird,
Let her fly
While Baby Birdie carves a soaring silhouette against the endless sky

That sight of the scars
Painting her young wrists
Shook me with with disbelief
Yet overtook me with jealousy

I'd never be able to express pain
Like she did in her poetry

The crispest of papers
The finest of inks would falter
In front of that beautiful, mangled mess
Her smudged, blood-tinged words would author

She swayed a little,
As he held her strong.
She pushed him back,
But he never let go.

He drank her in,
Little by lot.
She pryed on his,
Everlasting love.

His friendship was,
All that she saw.
But for him it was,
Quite a lot more.

He loved her true,
Like a poet's tale.
But she refused,
To let him in.

He never quit,
She never stoped.
He loved her true,
While she played on.

None was at fault,
And no one quite right.
She lost a friend,
He lost his life.

This game was over,
And they never met.
The friend and the lover,
A match never meant.

Broken shards of a broken heart-
Each piece composes a different line,
Then from the crevices bleeds out your poetry.
And then you ask me why it doesn't rhyme.

Numbness I await
While your words reverberate
Through and through my soul.
