Sugar or Salt
prettywhnyoucry Jun 2022
It is hard to tell sugar and salt mixture apart by merely glancing or touching. I wish I could master the art of segregating them without any arduous chemical process.

According to wikiHow, one may assess the grain sizes of salt and sugar. But they too, acknowledge that table salt and granulated sugar do look very similar; the differences in these 2 is minute.

Option 2: Acquire a sieve sized in between the 2 grain sizes so as to let the salt through. However, this method is clearly not fool proof since not all salt and sugar grain is of the same size. A salt granule could mask itself.

The best way to separate salt and sugar is by adding absolute alcohol to the mixture as only the sugar will dissolve, salt is insoluble in alcohol. Then after, proceed to evaporate or boil off the sugar and alcohol solution and you will be left with salt.

Much like in life, it requires more than looking or tactility to tell between genuine and the pseudo. It takes time, takes processes and occurrences. I once more wish I could distinguish them easily.

Then again, as much as I am grateful for the sugars in my life, excessive amount of sugar isn't all that good for the health. Salt heightens the sweetness of sugar; it teaches me to appreciate sugar better. More importantly, salt, to a moderate amount, does good to the body too.

As such, I am grateful for both the sugar and salt in my life. Sugar provides a sense of joy, while salt is vital for personal growth.

seasons
prettywhnyoucry Apr 2020
spring -- temperature starts to rise
and things come back to life; trees start to green
(probably why relationship starts to mend)

summer -- temperature is at its peak
and nature beautiful, fruitful; plants and animals reproduce
(you desire to be like them)

autumn -- temperature begins to drop,
and things start to change; leaves dry and wilt
(you start to long for things to end)

winter -- temperature drops rapidly,
and it becomes cold, real dark; leaves die
(your wish came true)
why do i blame myself when maybe
it is you and your change of seasons?
(i am just an object for you to meet your needs)

Greed
prettywhnyoucry Sep 2019
will you be sleeping later?
she sent him a seemingly innocent invitation
to something more than she has had.
something far wild and scandalous-
a once in a lifetime experience.
one that could potentially leave both hurt
(but she wanted more).

yes,
he turned down her invitation
but showed up in the end
appearing to not want to hurt her
but deep down wanting to cannibalize her.
when he left her undone, he felt a sort of rue
(but he wanted more).

why i detest poems
prettywhnyoucry May 2019
i dislike poems,
they welcome memories of you to waltz in my mind.
i loathe poems,
they make me reminisce every encounter with you.
i abhor poems,
they never fail to make me maudlin; pity myself.
i curse them,
i have unfollowed nearly every poetry accounts on instagram yet they still appear in my feed.
right,
then it hits me that i still am following some poetry accounts.
why?
because i enjoy self-pitying, victimising myself.
and?
i like to reminisce about the past.
not to mention,
the memories of you are irreplaceable.

i cannot tell
prettywhnyoucry Apr 2019
the day after
ignorance is bliss,
i whispered bitterly.
bitterness from excessive dark chcoolate i had
eaten or from within my heart, i cannot tell.

why,
he questioned.
was he just so ignorant, or did he want to force
the words he wants to hear out of my guts
to feed his ego? i genuinely cannot tell.

half wilted
prettywhnyoucry Mar 2019
her roots, holding on
to the last bit of brown soil.
the storm likely to not subside
and the sun, covered by nimbostratus.
its peony blossoms slowly withering,
leaves turned half brown.

oh, for how long more
can she pull through?
sometimes i feel just like giving up
