Dec 2014
Christmas spent alone remembering brighter times,
Cuddled on the sofa with me and mine.
Children snuggled in bed dreaming with glee,
about all the presents under the Christmas tree.

A light sprinkle of snow just starting to fall,
fire burning bright all cosy and warm.
the twinkling of the decorations as they catch the fires glow.
not long till morning now.

I wake cold and in pain,
looks like I fell asleep on the chair again.
Dreaming of decorations! but no Christmas tree,
no warm sparkling fire to comfort me.

No body want's to know when you get old,
just a forgotten old lady sat in the cold.
I wonder what happened to those good Christmas times?
sat under the warm blanket waiting for Christmas to arrive.
