Did you give yourself to the river’s edge, and then wish you were here
When the morning hour blossomed into a gleam
Are you now afraid my love will not pull you through
When your hands are reaching out
For your dreams

Last night you walked deep within the shadows of distress
The expression on your face astounded me
But, I saw contentment in your eyes until the very end
Although I could see your heart bleeding
You reached for nobody

You are a beautiful yet unfathomable burning flame to me
I am a moth captured within your light
Following your footsteps on to that river’s edge
Hoping you will not give yourself up
Without a fight
