When he closes his eyes or puts on a disguise
he becomes the invisible man.
In the no hope of a ruin that catches him brewing
two tea leaves,
tea for two?
Pilchards and dry bread with hymns sung
for a man dead
to the world.

'pearls before swine'
so a bottle of wine to keep out the chill
unrolling the dog ends he blends some tobacco and builds up a smoke then bends himself into the shadow of the man he became.

No one is missing,
Mother is kissing him
goodnight
and the man dead to the world
holds her tight and
begins to cry.

On this journey he takes through the
years
his heart breaks
once or more and
then the final door opens wide
he looks through
steps inside.
the light flickers off and comes on.
