I would have known thee before the day ends
When butterflies’ wings glow beneath the sun
And water flows across the rocky crust.
I wish… I wish… I really wish I would.

I would have known thee before darkness peeks
When music sings its harmony with smiles
We’d hear the lyrics’ tone; it echoes the sweetest laugh.
Oh I wish I would before nightmare spared.

I would have known thee before stories end
When stars won’t blink and clocks don’t rush
The hour hath run before I would
And date hath passed before I could.

I would have known thee before we met
When my heart remembers how to beat
And my lips still know how to smile…
When my world seems just so fine
and fair.

I would have known thee
I wish I would
Before I found myself deeply…
falling
In numb.
