If I was gay
and yes smiled everyday
i'd be a flamboute individual
with crusts in my hands

And by the pond of you know who's
I would cast my bread crumbs from my pockets
and the love of my life in a locket
I would cast to the lilies in dark comfort

Oh mercy on me
not so young ... not so free
yet here in this park serene
the clock on Greenwich hill chimes
