The moon has left the sky
no longer does it shine, nor stars glittering fall
only nights draped in coldest black, as if winter
as if a northern squall bangs upon the shutters
a pounding in my heart emptied hollow
a memory, your face sullen sallow
now only a breathless shadow
across the fields
of my days
