Slowly the day is dowsed by night
as the clumsy sun trips over the horizon
and is gone from sight

The swallows morph into their darker side
and screeching fill the twilight skies
in fear all creatures retreat and hide

Silence falls heavy covered in soot
none stir except for the owl’s mournful hoot
