Words and sentences
written for a you
that doesn't exist

Perhaps I'm going crazy
trying to free myself
like the girl stuck
in the yellow wallpaper.

I swear that I am here
and that I am sane
or at least good at hiding
the other side of the canvas

push the boat, use your feet
under the bridge
before the barge driver
has another heart attack

Cryptic phrases tucked away
in the basement only
to collect dust and sadness
they belong in the attic.
