Jun 2014
moribund the city of Detroit
twas a vibrant hub of industry
homes churches and schools lie
in a lifeless and decaying state
the lungs of motor car manufacturing
which kept it alive now don't breath
the Ford and Holden companies
deserted the city's vast terrain
a desolate wind blows through the shopping malls
businesses folded up when turn over stalled
the unemployed men and women there
live midst ruin and despair
the flicker of revival and rejuvenation
isn't shining on their horizon
the corporate sector packed its bags
their neglect is now seen
on the people's faces as they wander aimlessly
in avenues and streets that are so mean
