Run the stop signs.
Let the phones ring.
Let the man upstairs try to deal with the problems
the people bring.
Where is Jesus,
when daddy throws a fit?
When ***** smokes her ***?
When mommy ***** the mailman?
Where is the higher power,
when we are at our knees at our darkest hour?

We assume cats and dogs don't have souls
because they don't have the opposable thumbs to drive
themselves to church on Sunday mornings.
God rest their souls,
when we put them in little holes
in the ground.

What if Christ came back just as naked as he supposedly left us ,
but we put him into prison with a ruthless charge of public indecency?
We would be guilty as a society,
for imprisoning our "Top priority".
