In this city of a billion feet
striking the concrete
if may found one face
in one recess
one man standing on the asphalt
when halts to see
the arch of heaven's vault
finds within a treasure
beyond gain's measure
and at day end
when his feet turn home bound
his heart contented with all not found
lays peacefully his head
on the resting bed
forgetting all ache on the asphalt
turn eyes on the heaven's vault
till his dreams fetch him a meaning
of his flight with the earth's spin!
