To not let people invest in me
That’s what my motto’s been.
To not invest in people,
I’m leaving at summer’s end.

Why then did I invest in you?
What made me think that you were different?
This is the same old song again.
I’m probably just ignorant.

I give my all and everything.
I make the time to prioritize,
And without fail- imbalance
Try watching with my eyes.

I know that you’re busy,
And I know that you’re stressed.
There’s no reason that you shouldn’t be.
The clock’s counting down, time’s pressed.

Our time together is short too,
I simply wish to be relevant in your life.
The petals keep on falling… Love me,
Love me not, they cut like a knife.
