Took the metro downtown
thought I got off scott-free
Visor hid the driver’s eyes
(Shade for the shady)
Beaded like the rosary on his mirror

Stepped off without looking,
actually saw but didn’t see
Doors hissed behind me closed,
eyes growled before me open…
a sheep in wolf’s clothing (not the other way around)

Pin striped suit and black fedora
sleek (it has been mentioned)
and a banana for dinner (hard and *****)
yellow like a coward I once knew,
peeled like my heart is now

The street signs giggle,
got off at the wrong stop (snicker, snicker)
should have paid more attention,
should have paid the exact fare
Thought I got off scott-free…boy was I wrong
