I die by daybreak
and when evening calls
when the night sings
I live once again

By the shadow of the moon
I will frequent your room
and whist others are asleep
I will have you under sheets

I will mark you with my love
my undying love
then will fly out of your window
as a bat, not a dove

And when they think you're dead
and in ignorance bury you
I will call to you
as I dig you up

Then you will be my mistress
my mistress of the night
we will love forever
yet die at daybreak
