Nov 2013
It starts as a seed that you plant in the ground.
It needs water and sunshine in order to sprout.
When it starts to grow, you're able to see,
a tall brown trunk, topped with green leaves.
It's a tree of course, if you haven't guessed.
And it's used for many things; in no way is it useless.
We use it for shade from the suns harmful rays,
and the apples that grow can feed hunger pains.
But we also use wood from this beautiful tree.
We cut it down and make, all kinds of things.
From furniture and cardboard to papers and pencils,
to money and houses of great big expenses.
But back in the day this tree was used for crime.
It was cut down and carved, all in short time.
There were few made, but its shape will remain
a part of our history til the very end of age.
Two wooden blocks, one shorter than its brother,
were carved from this tree and nailed to each other.
Torture was the use of this object at hand;
Not intended for life, but the death of a man.
This mans name was Jesus; He was sent by His Father,
to show the whole world of His great love and power.
The world didn't like Him; thought He was no good.
So, they crucified Him on these pieces of wood.
Though they took His life, threw it away like dross,
Oh, how brave He was to take up that Cross!
Wrote this when I was like 16 years old.
